I still have all of my late grandparents' 8mm movies and all but one reel are still able to play on their old projector! Much of the footage is still crisp, clear, and colorful as originally filmed in the 1960s and 70s. They transferred all of the film on VHS in 1983. It ended up saving some of the footage that would end up ruining 2 rolls of film in the process of waiting for the rest of the transfers to be completed. While the film materials wasn't technically damaged or unable to play back on the projector (it still does perfectly fine), all of the shot footage faded away into shades of red, orange, yellow, and white. But because that footage was already transferred to VHS prior this, nothing was lost except in original quality. The tapes are still in good codition with no issues and I successfully transferred both 35-year-old, 2-hour tapes into a single freshly-printed, 4-hour DVD in 2018 using the Bi-directional dubbing feature on my 2015 Toshiba VHS-DVD recorder combo. The quality of the DVD recording preserved every little detail from the VHS signal, digitizing the footage for a whole new generation! But nothing will top quality footage like authentic film. Digital content is nice, but limited. Analog all the way.

This was back when "More Doctors Smoke Camels." I really like these old movies. I buy all I can find locally and on rare occasions I buy one off ebay. I have many hours of 8 & 16mm I've never even seen dated from 1947 to the 90's.

With all the great things that you have on these videos, I think the old movies are the best, that is besides all the high jinks you guys do!!

Amazing piece of history. To think those kids are probably 80 years old now.

This was so cool! I just picked this camera up at a thrift store purely based on how awesome I thought it looked. Love this video. I would love to film something with it! :)

I’m “only” 35, (lol:) but I recall having candy cigarettes as a kid, around the late 90’s. They were fun! Didn’t make me want to smoke though. Also if you look closely at this footage you can tell those cigs aren’t even lit, so they’re likely candy! What a great video you’ve put together, thanks for sharing it

I think a little convenience store in my town might still sell candy cigarettes.

You say this was a found movie- any idea who the people are? Any relatives of the Trackman?
