He has rock'em sock'em action and blaster absorbing shields???!!? Amazing!!!!!! Also had a ship nerd moment when they pulled into port......all those pirate ships!!!!!!! And anyone else here Bob Hoksins in their head when he said his name was SM-33???
For me this show has definitely hit me in the feels. I used to be that kid who always used to dream about being a Jedi. Having my own ship exploring the galaxy. If im completely honest that dream has never died for me. 35 years young and i still dream of being a Jedi explorer.
The show really surprised me, watched it with my boys (12, 11 and 3) and we all love it. Great nostalgic 80’s vibe and it works with Star Wars surprisingly.
Your absolutely right this has hit just perfectly for me. The vibe of The Goonies and Flight of the Navigator and all those kid adventure movies. It’s really just so good. Great reaction!
Nick Frost as SM-33 or as I’m calling him One Eyed WALL·E, is my new favorite humanoid droid. I haven’t fallen in love with a droid this hard, this fast, since K-2SO. He actually looks like an early model of that droid model but HIGHLY customized for fighting dirty. And I also love that he has a peg leg.
Seems like the planet of At Attin might be secluded from the galaxy and stuck in the High Republic era. With the old republic credits, hearing about a barrier in episode one, the kids never seeing stars and the important political lady talking about the “Great Works” which are projects done by the Supreme Chancellor during the High Republic
Thank you for pointing out the music. I hadn't really noticed it that much before. But I like the kind of different that it is. I started watching you from episode 3 and worked my way backwards, and you are a delight ! I had no idea who Nick Frost is, but I like him as the voice of SM. Can't wait for episode 4 as well as your further reactions !
it IS so much fun! and yes, SM-33 is absolutely called Smee henceforth! I've seen comments that says they never made the connection, which I think is odd.
Great to see you back Louise. You joy and energy makes this so great to watch. As a child of the 80s, this ticks all the nostalgia boxes for me. I was a huge goonies fan and of course star wars fan. There are so many throwbacks to all the shows and movies that I watched as a kid. I really hope they keep leaning into the nostalgia stuff. I am sad we gotta wait a few more days for the next episode. But also excited to see it when it comes out.
As someone who did grow up a “Star Wars” kid (my first memory was seeing “Empire Strikes Back” in the cinema, I remember Hoth vividly (I was also fortunate to see “Caravan of Courage “ in the cinema, which was wondrous at the time - kids about mine and by brothers age having an adventure with Ewoks!!!) and also grew up with Amblin movies like “E.T.”, “Goonies” and “Flight of the Navigator”, this show is just an absolute joy. I was one of these kids when I was a child. Getting up to mischief with my friends; searching for buried treasure in the woods, climbing trees, and looking for aliens and ghosts. This was literally me and my friends (though we unfortunately never found a spaceship I. Those wood, but that would have been cool). Add into that playing with all the toys and playing “Star Wars” in the playground at school at lunch time (everyone wanted to be Han Solo). Add in all those my age appropriate Easter eggs, including a Teek from “Caravan of Courage”, as well as Michael Jackson’s fuzzy sidekick in “Captain EO”. Wonderful! I could go on and on, but these episodes brought tears of joy and nostalgia to my eyes. Add into this, that it’s such an awesome show and a great cast and is showing us a side of the universe we have never really seen before. I’m in absolute heaven. I can’t wait to see where this show goes.
Louise's reaction to Star Wars is genuinely entertaining! Her enthusiasm and insights bring a fresh perspective to the saga, making it even more enjoyable for fans. It's always great to see such passionate reactions to the iconic moments in the series!
There's no question that SM33 is "Smee." I'm sure Nick Frost and the writers were fans of Bob Hoskins as Smee in "Hook." Also, I'm happy Nick Frost, like his friend and collaborator Simon Pegg, was able to perform in a Star Wars franchise.....probably because they share the same brain, lol.
Nick Frost was just perfect 👌 Love the story about At Atin and its mystery of being closed off from the outside world. The tape on the Teek ferrymans ship was a lovely touch 😅 New places, aliens, new music. This show is hitting out of the park...Disney better get this in their parks
I like how the only character that freaked out over the mouse was Neel, the elephant. And yes, the first mate droid is Smee. I don't care if everyone on the show starts calling him Grogu, we're still calling him Smee.
I will absolutely be calling him Smee. I love that he is voiced by Nick Frost! Very curious about the backstory for Law's character. Former Jedi? Random force wielding pirate? Need more!
As the Boys are looking at the food, it sounds like a large group of Pirates in the background are singing a variation of the theme from Pirates of the Carribean.
So glad you've been able to come back to this. This has been such a refreshing change to the darker, more adult series we've had so far. It's Goonies, it's ET, it's Explorers and it's so, so Star Wars.
2:23 that was definitely a reference to when Jod would challenge Fern to a battle to be the captain. If people complain that i spoiled it, too bad. The episode's been out and I don't feel bad. Watch it first before getting on the internet.
As a huge StarWars fan and a huge Goonies fan (having seeing it as a kid and living an hr away from Astoria, Oregon where it was set and filmed), this is the perfect blending of 2 of my favorites. I am now a huge Neel fanboy.
Loved the double episode. This series hits very different but in a good way. I just hope the momentum continues. I wasn’t sure the series with kids would’ve been as fun as it’s turned out to be so I’m made up. Well done Jules on an entertaining watch 🫶🏻
You are 100% right. As an 80s Star Wars kid, this series hits all the right levels. The aesthetic, the witty script, the charming cast, the cinematography and the music; it is all here for us as fans. I could not stop smiling during these two episodes.
Too short! But so great. I love SM33. I love all the crazy practical alien designs. So much to look at on the pirate port. I just KNEW At-Attin was an isolated planet with no news of the outside galaxy, still using Old Republic Credits as everyday currency.
I hope SM-33 or Smee as you like to call him, comes back. One of my favorite things about Star Wars are the droids. What’s your favorite thing about Star Wars?
FINALLY! Waited for your reactions and especially to SM33 (and yes, we are pronouncing it SMEE! [as does just about everyone, else]). This is awesome, so far. If the show can keep this level up, it might become my favorit Star Wars show on D+.
So that little alien that ferried them from their ship to the station was from one of the Ewok movies, and the little pink animal trapped for sale was from Captain EO, a 3D short film that played at Disneyland starring Michael Jackson. Be a fun reaction.
It's like Goonies meets Stranger Things meets Pirates of the Carribean meets Lost In Space :D I know everyone is pleased to see Jude Law in this but for some of us older ones who remember Family Matters having Jaleel White is brilliant. I am now wanting his character to either break or damage something and say the immortal line "Did I Do that"? 🤣🤣
I now watched all of your other Star Wars series reactions and I really think that you, as a woman of culture, should react to "The Expanse" because you are into sci-fi space stuff and that show is crazy impressive! (and it is finished with 6 seasons to enjoy and fall in love with!) 👌😊 Aside that, I am also really intrigued what the rest of this show will give us. Sure it's "only" a kids adventure, but all those little hints to a greater story are there and it is entertaining. What do we need more? It looks of great quality, too. Love the reaction. 👍
The more cynical fans were ready to pounce on this series, but it's proving to be kinda fun so far. After "The Acolyte," I think it was the palate-cleanser we needed.
Theory has it that episodes 1 and 2 were actually one episode, they just broke it up to give us more. This is really fun, but much like The Acolyte, the shorter episode run times are something I guess I'll just have to deal with.
Yes we all agree he's Droid smee instead of Mr smee now we just need our captain hook and it'll be perfect. I've loved pirates so finally getting star wars pirates I see a future tattoo some times haha. Can't wait for more and your reaction to it
Yohohoho Yohohoho Yohohoho Yohohoho, a pirates life for me. At Attin? their planet is named after a Robot Camel? Hey the aliens are the norm here humie you all are the weird ones here. Oh Neel cannot shut up when he is scared. SM-33 stan account unlocked
@jamiewhitney4724 I'm assuming you haven't read any of the star wars books from the high Republic era. Tbf you only need to read one to give you a good overview of it
Hey Louise, I know you do predominantly Star Wars stuff, and I’m sure you’ve been asked this, but any chance you can react to Netflix’s Arcane? Def the best animated show ever, and seems like the perfect show for you. Thanks.
@@LouiseJulie_well what you said in the video was right it definitely hit every nostalgic button from that time period in my life felt just like a kid growing up in the 80s... And if you have any more questions about being a Star wars kid feel free to ask
Totally wizard!! 👌 👏👏👏🤩!! 2 search light eye droids said “ a star ship? That’s impossible” but it could go through the barrier ( Mando/grogu vibes🤩😁😁!!) + hyper speed!! how the fecking heck?!🤔!! A pirate space port🤯! Holy Shit!! it had dangerous written all over it!! VANE! the pirate badaas villain after getting away from Mando then gets Whopped by SM-33😃🔥🔥🔥☄️☄️💪💪💪! That scene was Fricking awesome!! + the Jedi key scene = there was a man in obi won who tricked others saying he was a Jedi!!👈!! Roll on EP3!!
This show is just pure serotonin. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
It’s so wild and awesome ASF! I can’t wait!!😭😭🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥🔥☄️☄️
I really liked it when KB was looking at the little creatures like she's never seen anything like it. That was a nice moment.
He has rock'em sock'em action and blaster absorbing shields???!!? Amazing!!!!!! Also had a ship nerd moment when they pulled into port......all those pirate ships!!!!!!! And anyone else here Bob Hoksins in their head when he said his name was SM-33???

Everytime Louise declares her new favourite droid, the droid dies
Looked to me like he was disabled with an ion blast. Basically a stun gun for electronics and droids. He'll be back, I'm sure.
When they close them in the brig you can hear the whistle from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride
the credits music is pretty much the star wars version of a pirate shanty 😀
Your absolutely right this has hit just perfectly for me. The vibe of The Goonies and Flight of the Navigator and all those kid adventure movies. It’s really just so good. Great reaction!
Star Goonies !! Great to see you back 😊
Pure Gen-X nostalgia-mining. I’m here for it.
Nick Frost as SM-33 or as I’m calling him One Eyed WALL·E, is my new favorite humanoid droid. I haven’t fallen in love with a droid this hard, this fast, since K-2SO. obviously julie is correct that the droid is meant to be smee as disney owns peter pan 😀
The little pink guy is from Michael Jackson Caption Eo, and the ferryman is from Ewoks: Battle for Endor.
Also when he says "This isn't a charity" the word he used is Star Wars slang for the F word lmfao!!!!
The little guy is a Teek!!! I love that the Teek is a puppet!

Yep either cut off since the great hyperspace disaster or something Nihil related with that barrier
13:49 the force theme returns! Actually got chills from that. Whenever OG themes are used rarely and not frequently, it hits harder.

I was a Star Wars kid once and yeah, this sort of adventure would have blown my mind.
Holy shit I did the same sort of grumpy face due to the short episode length, followed by begrudgingly happy head bops to the end credits music.
Two vids in one day?! You spoil us!
It makes up for nothing the past 2 months 😇 hahaha
SM-33 has already replaced Pip as my favorite droid this year. 😊❤
Also, I'm so happy to see you reacting to new _Star Wars_ stuff again!
This makes me feel so much like a kid again, music reminds me of the pirates of the Caribbean ride lol

The main Force theme played in this. Legitimately got chills.
The goonies meet Star Wars
All smiles! Good stuff!
"Potential to become top favourite droid" I mean, he's ok, but he's no Chopper!
There's a team up I'd love to see.
Last episode gave us the feel of the Goonies or E.T. This episode is Captain EO, Space Camp, and Pitates of the Caribbean!
As the Boys are looking at the food, it sounds like a large group of Pirates in the background are singing a variation of the theme from Pirates of the Carribean.
8:38 I knew someone would recognize him. Isn't he the pirate from The Mandalorian, serving Gorian Shard, and had him men killed by Greef and Din?

So basically we have a Peter Pan/Treasure Island/Treasure Ålanet crossover... And I'm so excited for it 😀😲
Oh yeah - and Jude Law is a JEDI 😲😲😲
SM33 is the best Star Wars Pirate Droid. Jude Law's Character is ALL THE WAY Captain Silvo(Maybe "Long John" Silvo)...
SM33 voice is dead similar to Jetfire in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
Yeah. Jetfire was a hilarious alien in the Transformers movie. To bad he sacrificed himself to give his parts to Optimus.
10:54 why does that sound like a lower pitch version of Anthony Daniels' voice (the one who voiced 3PO)?
It's like Goonies meets Stranger Things meets Pirates of the Carribean meets Lost In Space :D I know everyone is pleased to see Jude Law in this but for some of us older ones who remember Family Matters having Jaleel White is brilliant. You forgot treasure planet
I did not even catch that SM-33 spelled "Smee".
Pirate being burnt sounded like a gamorrean
This is the village meets reverse the Explorers and I'm loving it
I see we all love SM-33. But we also have Jude Law as a former Captain Hook from Peter Pan and Wendy
Nice nose ring. Don't let it get caught in ball hairs.
Stay classy dude.

I enjoyed all Star Wars stuff, some more than others. This so far is the best thing since the original trilogy!
It’s fantastic!
The barrier they talk about must be some planetary time travel or cloaking device. Kind of reminded me of Themyscira from Wonder Woman.
Or could be related to the Nihil. Think how they travelled
I definitely said Smeeee right away!
Theory has it that episodes 1 and 2 were actually one episode, they just broke it up to give us more. This is really fun, but much like The Acolyte, the shorter episode run times are something I guess I'll just have to deal with.
SM3 = Smee, that was an awesome Easter egg and we get vane back as well cool
The names Fern....Jewels Fern
She is just like Lobot, Landos wingman
Yes we all agree he's Droid smee instead of Mr smee now we just need our captain hook and it'll be perfect. I've loved pirates so finally getting star wars pirates I see a future tattoo some times haha. Can't wait for more and your reaction to it
I don't know about Captain Hook, but we apparently have Long John/Jod Silver/Silvo.
Technically Jude Law played Captain Hook in Peter Pan and Wendy already
In your top 5 droids. More so than Gonks? 😮
