  • Sakamata Chloe wasn’t able to have a free time and couldn’t hang out with her friends when she was a kid because of taking many kinds of lessons.
So, one day, she skipped her lesson without telling her mom, but her mom noticed it and asked her to leave, and Chloe ran away from her house.

@@ptl770 Reminds me of myself when I was a kid. My mum left me standing in a parking lot once, because I really tested the limits on that day. She thought she would just drive around the block and pick me up again. But, by the time she returned, I was long gone. I remember thinking to myself: "So, fine, now that you left me standing here, I'm gonna move to my grandparents instead.". I was maybe 8 or 9 years old back then. I walked through half of the city until I found one of those public coin phones, begged some stranger for a few cents and proceeded to call my grandpa, who came to pick me up. By that time my mother had already alerted all of the staff of the supermarket that I'm missing, called basically every available family member and was on her way to the police. The one getting taught a lesson that day wasn't me. ;-)

As a teenager, my family kicked me out of the house, almost the same way, to much pressure because i was a "smart kid". They told me "If you don't like it, get the f out and don't bother coming back" several times, so one day I did it. I started living wherever i could, streets, friend's houses, until i got a job and manage to rent a place, i haven´t talk to them since then. Looking back, it was a harsh, some will say stupid, decision of my part, but you know, i was free. I graduated from uni, got a better career and now i live fully watching vtubers. BAD ENDING?

That's the first time that i realize how heavy the burden is on kids to keep up their grade, not only pressure from parents and teachers, bit also from the student who have lived in that environment themselves.
And that's also the first time I realize how nonchalant I am.

Dude I remember when I had a mental breakdown.
Was extremely indecisive in school so I just followed what my brother took for electives later on, which was infinitely harder and went from straight A student to a D-C average.
Dropped out one day because of a mental breakdown from not meeting my own expectations and parents berating me for it. Refused to go to school, ate little to nothing and just cried for days in bed, refusing to even move, before my parents decided to let me be. Took me like a couple years and a private school to get my life back on track.

      SCP-10236-JP
      (Keter Class)
SCP-10236-JP is a female humanoid orca who lives in the [Redacted] prefecture in the city of [Redacted] near the cost. SCP-10236-JP exudes a miasma like particles off her skin that is a Harriman Class 10+ in the odor scale as the scale doesn't go higher than 10 due to the abnormal number of carbon bonds that chemically make up the odor does not exist naturally.
The particles (Henceforth referred to as SCP-10236-JP-A) have the abnormal property of summoning aberrations (henceforth referred to as SCP-10236-JP-B) when an attempt to clean them is made (refer to incident SCP-10236-JP-1).
Containment of SCP-10236-JP is made in cooperation with [redacted] productions in which SCP-10236-JP is given an online platform to stream video games, it has been noted that this activity dramatically decreases the number of particles exhuded from SCP-10236-JP's skin and thus dramatically reducing the incidents of aberration formation which might lead to a Class-3 End of The World scenario (refer to Incident SCP-10236-JP-2) for which the reclassification from safe to Keter Class was made.
Under no circumstances should SCP-10236-JP be washed or cleaned, in the event of an SCP-10236-JP-B infestation, SCP agents should be dispatched to the locations and SCP-10236-JP be relocated to a new location immediately.

If you are a parent, or thinking of becoming one in the future:
I am a 30 year old man, half Japanese, half British. As expected, my Japanese mother pushed me to do well in my studies, but my dad came from a long line of teachers and had been to university so he expected me to go as well. I can't remember a time in my life when I *didn't* feel immense pressure on me to do well at school and be the perfect kid so my parents would be proud of me.
As you can probably guess, I was miserable. I was very shy and terrible at making friends. It didn't help that my family moved around a lot, so as soon as I made friends I lost them again. After a while, I just stopped trying. I became arrogant and self-absorbed as a way to protect myself: as I saw it, I didn't NEED anyone else.
The one thing I had was pride in was my schoolwork. I eventually *did* end up going to uni and, because I finally got some help and counselling there, I did well and got the top grade. Because academic work was the only thing I really knew how to do.
That was about ten years ago. I still don't have a stable job. The only friends I have are online. I have a chronic, painful disease that started back in uni and only got worse from there until I had to have emergency surgery. My parents don't live together anymore. They probably see me as nothing more than a burden.
Here's why I'm writing all this. If you ever have children, LET THEM BE CHILDREN. Let them play around, do stupid things and have fun. Let them hurt themselves and teach them how to get over it. Don't coddle them, don't pigeonhole them, and for the love of whatever god you believe in don't force them to study every single damn day. Study skills are nice to have, but they are no guarantee of success. There are other, more important life skills that they need to learn, and they won't learn those from any textbook in any school.
You can send your kids to all the lessons you want, but ultimately the most important lesson you can ever teach them is how to be happy being who they are. If you're constantly telling them that what they're doing is a mistake, eventually they will come to believe that THEY are a mistake. I definitely did. I've wished so many times that I'd never been born.
Don't worry about their future success; they'll become responsible adults when they're ready. The most tragic thing you can do to a kid is to steal their childhood from them. Please, if you care about your kids, don't do to them what my parents did to me. Otherwise they might end up like me. That is not a fate I would wish on anyone, no matter how much I hated them.

This. Working in software dev in a megacorp right now after college, and I'm _almost_ at the point where I'd _almost_ call academia a scam.
Almost none of what I learned in college is applicable, and I know plenty of lateral hires who got in without a degree after internships and freelancing.
Honestly, if you're getting into higher ed, unless you plan to stay in academia forever, or it's a traditional engineering degree like Chem/Petro/Mech/Electric or Mecha, it just isn't worth it compared to trade schools, boot camps, apprenticeships, internships, etc.
Job experience and connections dominate unless it's one of those math-heavy degrees (software isn't quite one of them honestly), where it actually matters. Or you go into med or law school or something.
So many parents don't have a damn clue what they want out of their kid.
Unless they want the kid to follow in the footsteps of one of their parents (leveraging their parent's capital or connections), assuming you just want them to be as rich as possible with a healthy work/life balance, get them into a proper trade first, from which they can grow their skills.
There are massive advantages to starting early.
Biggest regret I have career-wise is refusing a writing gig for a local newspaper when I was a kid (dad knew the owner, but my mom stonewalled me into college).
The guy who grabbed that offer in my place is now making more than I make in tech… and he had _worse_ writing skills at the start and was sure I'd get the job when he thought we were both applying.

Probably have multiple undiagnosed screwups in my head lol
I'm one of the lucky ones too though.
Live in a nice apartment, mostly working from home with Netflix & chill, in a 3rd world country where people starving seems to be getting more common.
My current employer is swell with low workloads, but doesn't pay much and is very bureaucratic.
I managed to hold on to a friend in Europe who ended up getting into a senior tech lead position.
Gave me tips to practice on LeetCode & Codeforces to ace their technical interviews.
He said that combined with a good word from him would basically guarantee I could work for them at 4x my current salary once my current yearly contract ends.
I can choose to part on good terms if there's no chance for promotion by then.
Feel pretty damn guilty about the other poor shmucks with useless degrees or none at all.
Was kinda surprised that a guy I know (with better grades than I ever had) who worked at a bank had to buy his own machine for work instead of the employer giving it to him at no expense like mine did.
Makes less for more work too…

Communication is the most important. It's hard, but a parent need to explain to their kids why they're scolded. When I was a kid, 90% of the times I didn't know why my mom scold me. I just assumed that I was a bad kid. In school I had good grades and my friends told me that I was an honour student, but I didn't believe them one bit. It was ingrained in my mind that I'm bad and inferior to others. I didn't dare to have any dreams. I missed so many chances in life because I didn't dare to take it, I assumed it was only for "normal" people, not me.
I only realised that when I became an adult. I'm fine now, but I wasted a lot of years. Please communicate with your kids. No silent treatment, no passive aggressive, be frank, clear, and full of love.

I feel like this was probably more of a lesson for Chloe's mom than Chloe herself, lol. Her mom probably felt Chloe was being ungrateful for her attempts to mold her as best she could, not really understanding how much Chloe was suffering from it (A lot of parents can be this way. They want what's best but don't always know what's best). So when she told Chloe to not come back, she likely expected her to cry and beg to be let back inside, and instead got the lesson of "Oh god, my child was actually more than happy to leave."
I'm sure if Chloe was to stay outside longer than a single day, she would have been really scared and wanted to go back home. I'm glad though that her mom realized her mistake, and I hope that her life was a little less cooped up from then on.

To all parents: kids are stupid and they take things literally. Don't ever tell your kid to never come home again because they will really do it.
    Same experience:
When I was a kid my mom was angry because I played with friends and came home late, told me not to come inside and don't come home ever. But like a stupid kid I was, I was happy when being told that. Mom thought I will cry outside the door but when she opened the door an hour later I wasn't there.
Police wasn't involved but my entire big family rushed to search for me all night. Funny thing is I only play on nearby park 5 minutes away from home. They found me around 11 PM. My mom got chewed up by grandma after that and I didn't understand what happened but it was a good day.
Now that I think about it, it was pretty dangerous and I could've kidnapped anytime, but it was really fun.

Man being a kid is hard, you're unaware of how much danger is nearby until you start to wise up with age.

Well I too was kicked out by my mom, but it was 9 or 10 at night and didn't know what to do, plus I was scared of the dogs, got angry and partially destroyed almost all her favourite plants, all those plants involved didn't bear a flower for quite a few years-did feel bad about it though

Damn, Chloe is really lucky that they found her. In worst case scenarios, it really wouldn't end well for her at all... Though it might be her miasma being the sole defense mechanism at protecting her from wild strangers lmao

I guess Asian parents are like that, at least a lot of them. Though I think the worst part of it is not just on their harsh treatment on their kids, but the flaws of their parents that's going to be witnessed by the kids as they grow up. Like for example, some parents would "pressure" their kids to study 24/7 when they're still very young, but at the same time when they see other kids they'd say "oh yeah kids should definitely play more". These kinds of inconsistencies seem to confuse kids, and of course they'd feel envious of the difference in how their own parents treat them and how they treat other kids.
I think on Sakamata's case, she seem to be the type that doesn't or couldn't show her tantrums to her parents, so she just kept her frustrations to herself. Some parents thought that kids would always need them, but apparently Sakamata's desire to play outside was greater than her need of her mother, so she just think of it as a chance to go out and play. There's probably no thought about food and money, she was just a kid that just wanted to play.

I remember vividly as a kid when my mom told me the same thing but I just didn't go back into the house till it got dark.
She said she was locking the door but she didn't.
I just played in the dirt in our driveway and just went back inside.
This was around the same time she realized she couldn't use stuff like give us chilli peppers or wash our mouth out when we swore because we just ate the chilli peppers and my brothers started eating the soap cause he liked the taste or stuff like that.
We just broke stuff to get out, broke stuff to get back in and so on.
Me and my brothers are like 3; 4 and 5 at this point with me being the oldest.

I was an adventurous kid, I climbed over the fence in my yard and was playing in the street but since we had high walls my mom thought I dissapeared so she scrambled the cops to find me running around with a paper plane just out by the street. She cried big tears and idk why but I did so as well.

When i was a kid, i fought in the car with my sisters and my mom threatened us that she would stop car and leave us beside the road.
We stopped for awhile and fought again. My mom then stopped and told us to step out of the car. We did and we obediently waited outside confused, while she attempted to scare us by driving away. It backfired every time.
She stopped and found that fear of physical pain works on us more than fear of abandonment. I don’t know we siblings were dumb kids or unaware of abandonment at that age.
