This is one of the best tutorials I've ever seen on inserting a jean zip. Thank you so much. I bought some denim, but have been afraid to sew , will definitely be looking at this pattern and video again and again!❤
Great tutorial and refresher for me as I have been inserting fly front zippers this way for many years. You have inspired me to try to sew my first pair of jeans using the Legato pattern. I love all your videos, always to detailed and informative.
Another brilliant tutorial, thank you for all your tips and for filming and explaining so clearly. I'll never be going back to the "old" fiddly way again!
My niece hijacked my phone this morning to watch your new videos while she ate breakfast and kept telling me that she could help me with certain steps (she's eager to copy your handwork steps).💞 The part that amuses us to no end is that she hates wearing jeans! Maybe it's like kids and vegetables, if she participates she might be more willing to "consume"🤣
What a brilliant tutorial Karina! Thank you! I always struggle a bit with fly zippers but you really made the process very clear and understandable, You really are the sewers sewer! ❤️
Hey Karina, I just wanted to let you know how excited I was to find your jeans videos. I recently purchased a pattern from a custom measure pattern site, but the instructions that came with it were like those confusing Ikea furniture instructions. There were missing pieces, extra pieces with no instructions, and images with hands that covered what was being sewn. But thankfully, your videos had everything I needed to know! They were so thorough, easy to follow, and honestly, just really enjoyable to watch. So, I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU.
Another wonderful tutorial. You make it very understandable and when you share your reasons for a technique it reinforces learning. I am happy to be a Patreon member and wish you the very best.
All you videos are amazing... all your tip n tricks are so clear n precise... anyone that's finds n subscribes to your channel is truly blessed... thank you for all your hard work... their are many of us that would be much poorer skilled sewers without you... blessings 💙
Thank You Karina! Very thorough and useful tutorial. When it comes to top stitching I’ve always seen the edgestitch first, looking forward to sewing the 1/4” topstitch FIRST!! Also… using 2 different feet is SOOO smart. ❤
I love the way you finished the serge thread on the shield! I never thought of that but it’s easier than threading and seems more secure. Also I found it so funny when you said you despise bar tacks 🤣
I’ve been struggling with my first fly zipper and just want to say thank you for a very clear tutorial…. My first mistake was I was trying to centre the zipper!
Just wanted to say thank you ,to you Karina for giving me the address in Sao Paulo Brazil for the fabric district, I just returned to the US and I got an abundance of beautiful fabrics at very good prices,Michelle
Honestly Karina, you are an enormous help to us!!!! Thank you so very much for another clear, concise and informative tutorial. Yes, we can do it now thanks to you. Very grateful. xx
Hiya Karina babe...I am behind watching your content. 😮💨 Mum has been in the hospital so my life hasn't been my own. BUT, I WILL CATCH UP! I Adore this kind of content! I have a folder called Karina that I save things that I need to go back to in case I need them. Your technical videos are keepers for sure! I have found you on Tiktok and I recently subscribed to IG and will be following you there as well! All things Karina🤗! You are soooo AMAZING and I can't say enough how much I have learned from you and how much I appreciate you! Keep it up sweets! 😘
Thanks for the demonstration! The blanket stitch with the wooly nylon is brilliant! I know you’ve shown jeans with the facing finished with bias tape on the completed garment, but have you ever shown that process step-by-step? I have looked through your jeans videos several times, but haven’t found anything. Thanks for all you do!
At the bottom of the zipper extensions in the curved section, you don't have to worry about raveling. This area is cut on the bias so very little fraying can occur. However, nice job "cleaning up" that area to make it look more presentable.
I feel I need to worry. It’s an area of tension there also. Especially with the type of Jean that I make that is fitted. I can’t deal with raw fabric in there 😬😀
Hi Karina! I'm working on my 3rd pair of Sinclair Metros. Due to not enough stretch (I just worried it's not enough, not 100% sure) I think I will insert a real fly! I think I can do it using your video, sweeet. I just looked at the pieces again (already cut out) and it seems the front pieces will work as you show here. It looks like the faux fly might be too small? Do you think it would work? Definitely need to create the zipper shield, though. Any tips as I attempt the alteration (sounds more positive than hack, ha ha!!) Thanks, Karina. Your videos are EXCELLENT.
The faux fly will be short and you can’t really extend it to involve the crotch curve. You’d need a tiny zipper. The metros have a wider waistband than what you’d have with regular pants because they are meant yo be pull up. You can sew the zipper but it will be super short.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles thanks! I may have to try, even though, as you say, the zipper would need to be 4 inches or so. I will use a nylon one, I think, to easily adjust length. Hmm. Yes you're right, the waistband will look uniquely wide! I just need to salvage the pants somehow, though, ha ha. I think I can. Thanks for the input!!
I thought I heard you say that chalk lines would disappear with ironing. Personally, I am challenged trying to remove chalk lines. Are you using a special type of chalk? May I ask what brand you use? I looked in your Amazon store and did not see there. Thank you as always for such great instruction!
hello very nice lady please kindly film how to operate the sewing machine electric foot pedal how it's used to sew please OK?please kindly reply back OK?thank you very much
I don’t know what to say about this. I just press it and the machine sews. I do not focus my channel on technical things about sewing machines because everyone has a different one. I will not film a video about this.
This is so far the best tutorial for the jeans fly zipper. Thank you so much for sharing.
Karina thank you for an extrely detailed tutorial! Please give us more trousers tutorials. Your explanations make me to want to sew more
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and again, you are one excellent teacher!

Me too! Lol. I was happy with it until I liked this way best.

This is a type of waxy chalk. Feels like a crayon actually. I don't know the source because a subscriber sent many of them to me from the US.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Thank you. I will research. Looking forward to Jean-making videos. 😊
Hello, for top stitch , do you use a regular tread underneath?
Always. Top stitch thread never goes in the bobin :)
I finally understand how to do this! I'm a visual learner, so the instructions that come in patterns aren't helpful. Thank you!!
