Incremental doses of nitric will keep you from using too much and save you the trouble of having to neutralize the solution before adding the SMB.

Is acid free in your country? You use the most brute force methods that are very wasteful...
You could dissolve all base metals in HCl only - takes some time and some oxygen from the air - and then pyrolyse down the remainder and dissolve the precious metals in a cup of aqua regia.

Along with gold, other base metals including copper are dissolved. Nothing remains.

superb result! what is your method of ratio for acids hcl ect, because you put 3 ltr hcl and 1 ltr NO3?
Dirty drop is first done with lots of excess nitric acid. Run out of nitric before base metals are gone, the precious metals will begin to cement out and remain above first filter.
Notice the denox produces lots of bubbles.
The next drop can be much less nitric. Like a few mililiters to 100 mililiters of hcl. This will not need to denox since the nitric will be nearly used up.
