@@lilnationals21 The reason they did that was Jordan Brand was trying to separate from Nike as its own company and stand on its own as a brand even though Nike is still their parent company. Tinker Hatfield did a interview where he talked about how he came to the realization that MJ was such a great player that he could have his own brand without Nike on the shoe and years later he turned out to be right. He also said that he knew he couldn’t take Nike off the shoe all at once so starting with the 7 the only Nike logo on the shoes were on the insole and box and continued like that until he branched off with the 12 which was the first shoe without Nike anywhere on it except for on the early Jordan 12 boxes before they switched to the silver Jordan box. The only reason we are getting the Nike back on the shoes was Jordan Brand / Nike seen that people wanted it and were willing to pay more for it. When MJ first retired and they did the 94 retros for the 1,2 and 3’s they had planned to do the 4’s,5’s and 6 retros as well but due to the poor sales of the first 3 retros and MJ returning to the game they ended up scratching the rest of the planned retros.Since they still had the samples for the 4,5 and 6 retros that had already been approved from 94-95 they tried it again when MJ retired in 99 and that was the only reason those had the Nike logo and the rest after that were switched to the jump man.
You killed it on these bro🔥🔥🔥The footbed material you didn’t add back in is there to help the shoe keep its shape when it’s in the last. It’s also there to give more gluing area to help keep the upper glued to the midsole.
I’ve never seen such great craftsmanship on sneakers..you literally built the shoe from bottom up! So crazy..man you should literally create your own shoe. Own brand/design/then sneaker in the future but job well done. Such an inspiration of what we can do with our skills, mind, and creativity!
It is one thing to be an artist and craftsman, but this, to me, is next-level Master Shoes biz... I mean, who goes in deep to separate show liners and stitching without commitment? This is NOT a hobby but pure love of the craft... a true Artisan. I had a pair of Nike Lava Domes back in the 80's; had them for about two weeks before one sole peeled right off; I tried to glue them back but out of frustration, I then tossed them in the trash... what a waste. Now, I see that there are options. Not that I can do it, but just seeing the amount of dedication John takes in restoring shoes makes me now think, not all is ever lost in a good pair of kicks.
This must be one of my fav video's ever when it comes to restoring shoes.. bravo on these man they look freaking dope! Bet you can reconstruct a pair to
I love these typa videos. Not just throw paint on the shoes or paint the liner for the tongue or you honestly coulda painted the back tab. This shoe you gave a lot more attention to detail even with how much elephant print is shown! You lowered the height of the tongue and the whole shoe in general too. Keep this going man even if it’s not with TH-cam grow big on Insta instead. know it’s hard to record a shoe job when it takes 5x longer compared to not recording
I just looked in my closet and found a lot of awesome shoes that'd make for the absolute dopest videos. Jordan 17's, 14's (only need the sole glued), Grey 11's( sole again and some black Polo boots. Just lmk where to send them.
Amazing work your a true professional but I give up you make me feel like I’m not even an amateur when it comes down to restoring my shoes 😂🤣 please keep these vids coming excellent work🙏🏾
The stroble is structural but it also plays a huge role in the comfort of the shoe, it should also reduce the possibility of foot injury caused by foot fatigue. Great video tho fam! I see some development keep growing.
Oh damn that’s something I didn’t think about. I honestly don’t feel a difference when wearing a pair of shoes without the bottom liner since the stroble board is so thin but sturdy.
Holy F... 😳 This how in 2020 restoration should looks like! I'm glad You are in that level when you start to Sew some parts. This probably means next step will be bespokes? Probably Yes! 🙃🤔
I thought it was lame a while back when i found out they purposely destroyed the shoe jus for the video, but i realize they actually put in hard work to rejuvenate the shoe, and he goes the distance to make it work
@@johnandrew00 makes sense... its just so damn weird seeing that only the sides are connected and youre stepping on foam haha. man, and i thought i was amazed with you with your undftd restoration ages back in the solecollector forum... you just kept on improving!

when i glue back soles with the upper i like to put them together before activating the glue. once theyre flush i heat it up as theyre in place. let know what you think of that tachnique
I’m sure this might be too late, but I mixed the true blue with a small amount of French blue, then added a small amount of military blue to maintain some vibrancy.
Sorry for the white static noise in at the end!

Na they were just watching the video upside down
I am not a hater, however i did not enjoy the fact that he dirtied the shoes just so he can "have a crazier before and after"
I like how he actually admits to destroying the shoes😂 It also makes a lot more since as to why there is such a time gap between each upload.
Maaaan, I miss the days when you would find Air Jordans in the middle of a Volcano.... RIP
Really be finding them in the middle of a forest lol
The Nike Air backtab swap was the right decision. Even if it's not technically OG it will always look better than the Jumpman
I dont understand why jordan brand even put that jumpman backtab on this shoe when its a OG colorway

This is really dope!! Only thing I don’t like personally is how low the elephant print is in the front but still a great job
that’s how they are in 1988, look at a 88 pairs elephant print
Damn those backtabs be lookin crispy clean 🧼

Willing to donate pairs for your vids for one repair !!!! Awesome work man
Jordan Brand needs to hire you.
Came for cleaning video. Watched the whole rebuild process.
strobel boards add contact surface for the adhesive... i still suggest you put one
Most of the donors I pull barely have any adhesive on the bottom anymore. That's why I didn't bother putting one.

Did you use Angelas true blue paint from the bottle or did you have to mix it to colour match? I find the True Blue from Angelus is a bit too light.
