Great suggestions Beth, I’m going to do a black & white wardrobe for my next trip, later this year. I really appreciated your style ~ travelling and looking elegant.
That's a wonderful idea Beth, sticking to a color scheme. Makes traveling easier and of course black and white is so classic. Love your choices. I have that AT polka dot blouse. Love.
Your wardrobe is much like mine. I added in one red t-shirt, one multi-coloured t-shirt and one gold coloured button down shirt (heavier than a regular button down). Found that I just craved more colour after a few days. Amazing how many outfits those items added. You looked ver chic in your outfits. Thanks for the video.
I usually bring 4 or 5 large & small, square & colorful scarves .. I use them, rather than necklaces. Also just one nice pair of gold hoop earrings, too. The scarves weigh less than more jewelry &/or the colored tops.
Love this capsule wardrobe. When we vacationed for 2 weeks in Europe I did it with just carryon and a large tote bag. It wasn't easy at first but with us traveling on our own to 2 different countries it was much easier than lugging a large heavy bag between airplane, train, cab, etc. Selecting a color scheme and mix and match is definitely the only way to go. Do I wish I had a few more pieces of clothing, yes, but it was very do-able and we had a great time. I love, love, love that gingham raincoat.
Absolutely agree! Ever seen a tourist trying to accommodate a suitcase larger than a "carry-on roll-on" on a train or (God Forbid) a bus, where you cannot check in anything? There is NO PLACE for a big suitcase and it winds up blocking the aisle, or worse. If you will only go from airport to cruise ship and back or airport to hotel, well, maybe it can be done easily, but I have observed that EVERYONE on the Metro or a train has only a carry on roll-on with maybe a tote bag. I am definitely too old to do the Backpack thing. Compression packing cubes are the answer!
What a great video! Now you need to do one on how you fit all that stuff in one carry on bag. What did you do about hair and makeup products? Thanks for the great tips!
Thanks for the travel video. Packing always brings tough decisions. You simplified the process. You have such a classy style & always look beautiful & so put together. It is so good to ‘see & hear’ you again. Have loved the weekly outfit videos, but miss hearing you give your thoughts as to the how, where & why of your choices. Many thanks. May you have many blessed memories of your vacation.
I love the thought of you wearing black and white in Siena - you matched the cathedral there! I had a wonderful time when I visited Tuscany and Paris, though I don’t think I was as well-dressed as you! Great tip re shirt dresses.
Love this! Very sophisticated and elegant yet casual. I think the amount you brought was perfect for two weeks with evenings and daytime and different weather conditions to contend with. Excellent!
As one of the first Image Specialists to large 500 Corporations in the 80's i congratulate you on your "Classical Taste" and your excellent travel wardrobe. Very well thought out and executed. As you know Classics are the backbone of any wardrobe and they never go out of style or good taste. They are eternal...Same in Architecture and Design..You can not beat the Classics and "Less is more" applies here as in all things. We could be sisters Beth; but now i am 82!!!! I look more like your age; but it took dedication to my lifestyle to achieve it starting early in my life. I can tell you it was all worth it..lol And it is still ongoing but i do so miss my GYM..( You can not work out cross training for roughly 3 hours three days a week wearing a mask!! Weights at home help though. ) I really enjoy your channel..Many thanks for it....
Great video. The color scheme is beautiful. Black and white are also my colors and not only is it a good idea for travelling but also for reducing my daily wardrobe, specially now that I am retired.
Beth~ I love the black/white color scheme! And you put it together so beautifully. Love the pop of color in your tote. Am going to steal your ideas for our next trip...I always pack waaay to much & find when we get home several things I didn’t even wear. Great tutorial! Will start planning my outfits for the next trip now so I don’t feel the stress of last-minute-packing. You did really well, Girl Friend! Glad you and Mr. Style had such a great time. One part of our 2 week vacation in February/March that blew my mind was the kennel bill for our 2 dogs....we could have easily stayed another week for what that cost! Whew!
I love that a woman who is stylish and elegant at home chooses to be the same when she travels! Love your capsule wardrobe and would happily wear all of it. The only extra thing I would add is a drop dead designer silk scarf for a pop of colour with the black and white. Sometimes it seems American travellers are fixated on their luggage being carry on only. You get a luggage allowance- use it! Travelling for two-three weeks with only a cabin bag would have me looking like a “bag lady”. Have subscribed now so on I go watching and being inspired! Thank you.
I can't understand the criticism from others about taking TOO MANY clothes. I think the amount was perfect and provided a lot of flexibility. I take the same amount of clothing and sometimes more when we travel and it is never a problem. Many travelers wear the same dirty clothes over and over and over looking like a teenager living out of a backpack. Style, looking pretty and feeling great in your outfit helps you enjoy your trip that much more. Always remember, people will stare, so make it worth their while. Great wardrobe Beth !!
I have enjoyed every minute of the Travel Capsule Wardrobe. Planning a trip to Europe in August 2019 and am taking many of your ideas and incorporating them into what goes with me. Personally, I want to look stylish when I am there and do care about the style, functionality and versatility of each piece that goes in my suitcase. Thanks for doing this video!
I extend the wearing of my white jeans by spraying them with a water repellant which is also a spot repellant. Spray the ironed jeans until saturated, let dry and viola! I can usually wear 3-4 times without needing to launder.
Elegant and uncomplicated on such an elegant lady. Thank you. I have a bad habit of not paying proper attention to what I am wearing. Have to remind myself not to be an "eyesore" to others who may be noticing me when I am outside.
I love the pieces you highlighted here! You have great taste, and I love how this capsule has elements of both modern and classic sensibilities! At 41, I don’t think that I’m quite qualified as “a certain age” :), but I would wear all of these pieces, and I could see my 20 year old daughter wearing some of them put, too! I’m also a huge fan of a black and white color scheme - I think that it’s always in style, no matter the time period or the time of year.
I am in my mid-50 and glad have found your channel by chance. I enjoy watching it & Will watch your videos when I need help with clothing/shopping Thank you for all the videos posted here.
Very nice ideas. Just my preferences- I don’t care for jeans. We weren’t allowed to wear them in HS and it was a public school. For shoes I recommend SAS the style Maria’s . I can walk all day .
I like the outfits a lot. I may have taken a bit less but like it all. Thanks for the pics of outfits. Appreciate the extra effort in editing, adding that.
This was great. I would love to see a similar capsule covering warm weather business conferences. The air could be sticky in one room, and freezing in the next. I was surprised at one that everyone changed into very casual clothes before dinner last year. I felt out of place in soft suiting, and I wore too much black for the location. Footwear is similar to travel, because you walk miles in conference facilities and also stand a long time. All this plus flying, and potentially workout clothes can start taking up room for a 3-4 day event!
I was just in Vienna and had the wrong clothes with me as it was very hot - but beautiful 😍 Wonderful video with having a “theme” to bring as wardrobe! And all of it was so elegant. Very well done!
We just returned from a trip where I packed WAAY too much; our first time to Alaska. Loved your ideas. Your wardrobe is always beautifully put together.
Great choices Beth. I loved all the looks and easy to do with black and white. You looked terrific in all of them. I just loved the maxi skirt with that darling top! You have amazing taste in clothes - always learn a lot from your videos. Bet the trip was fabulous - I would love to go! Enjoy your weekend! Deb :-)
Good to see which items you took on your travels. Can you please do a capsule collection for people who don't do black and white? I have softer, Autumn colouring and black and white is too stark. Thank you 🧡xx
Such great information. I can see how keeping to one color palette can really help when packing. I saw on Erin Busbee's blog that you two had lunch (?) together. I'll bet you two had a great time.
All Very smart. Would have like to have seen the suitcase you used. I would have missed having dress and blouse in a nice bright colour. So well put together.
it's hard not to have more choices. but then i lift my suitcase and know i made the right decision to pack fewer items. 40 pounds is so manageable. and europe has so many stairs. xo
Lovely tunic you have on. Please share where it’s from. 😊. Really liked that you showed yourself IN the clothing. That was the most helpful part to show how all the pieces worked together. Super! 👏😃👏
I actually travel a lot and just came back from 10 days in Bulgaria. You brought 40 pounds of clothing, which I think is way too much. The following are my thoughts on what to pack. Suitcases: When going to Europe I use a small medium sized suitcase (just a little bigger than a carry on size) and a small suitcase (computer sized bag with or without wheels) that I can put on top of my suitcase. This enables me to drag the two suitcases on public transit. These sizes will also fit the trunk of a small car along with your partner's who would be allowed the same amount. I take the smaller bag as the airline has lost my baggage in the past. In this suitcase, I put my meds and 5 pairs of underwear with an additional bra, my pajamas, an extra bottom (light weight pants or skirt (usually black), two or 3 extra tops and a sweater. Jeans and demin items weight too much!. I do the black/ white wardrobe but I avoid the white blouses and tee shirts as you can usually only wear them once. My main suitcase only weighted 9.4 kilograms (21 pounds) and the smaller suitcase 4.5 kilograms (10 pounds). For the Bulgarian trip, on the plane I wore black pants, black tee shirt and heavier black sweater (It gets cold on the plane) I brought the following additional clothes: 2 pairs of black pants, one black skirt, one black and white polka dot skirt, black sleeveless dress, black sleeveless top, black red purple sleeveless top, two other short sleeve black based print tops, 2 swim suits and i coverup (went to hot water spas), light weight white sweater and black sweater. I agree with the light weight Columbian jacket but mine was lilac coloured. This was the only coat that I brought. Hope this helps.
For 10 days in Paris in early May one year for a wedding, I wore one pair of jeans, a knit top, sneakers, and a heavy sweater on the plane. I packed a travel umbrella, a dressy black trench coat, 10 cotton knit tops, one pair of black jeans, one pair of dress shoes, and a black microfiber dress. Plus underwear, toiletries, and a couple of silk scarves. Everything fit into one carry-on and a small suitcase. If I weren't going for a wedding, I would've skipped the dress shoes, dress, and trench coat. I didn't need those things for anything other than the wedding.
Looks really nice..would live to see all of the checkered rainproof jacket. How many days did you travel? Did you buy any clothes while there?? I guess your method would work with any color combination..great ideas. Thanks for sharing
I forgot to mention shoes. I just take two or three of them. Black Go Walk Sketchers (you can walk for hours on these), black sandals and a pair of flip flops for the hotel room or pool. I couldn't wear mules as I usually walk a lot on my trips.
Perfect! We are traveling to Italy in May for the first time, and I've been thinking about how to come up with a capsule. My goal is a single carry on, though.
Denelle Bratcher I only ever travel with carry on. It’s more difficult in colder weather because of all the layers you need but spring/summer is easy. The art is to utilise the hotel laundry service and hand wash underwear. Last holiday I took 3 dresses. 2 that could go day/night & one for just evening. 3 pairs of linen pants. 5 tops that can be worn with any of the trousers. 2 swimming costumes, one matching wrap. 3 days worth of underwear. Travel in co-ordinating pumps & put sandals in hand luggage with toiletries. Take light scarves in contrasting colours to change the look of an outfit. Easy peasy & under 19kg 👍
This video is so well organized and clear. How long were you away and what sized suitcase did you use. I'm hoping to do 2 weeks in Ireland in a carry on and this video gave me great ideas for mixing and matching items.
Black and white color palette has been my go to for years. Love that pop of color also.

Perfect wardrobe for me. Doing a two week TA cruise on Queen Mary 2 this April. Two weeks, NYC to England and back.

Great travel capsule, Beth! Could you take the the suitcase you used and show us how you fit everything in? And what about toiletries and makeup?
looks like you've given me an idea for a future video! xo
Couldn't hear a word you said. Just music.

Hello Sandra
I love black and white, it’s so classic and beautiful 💕💕💕 You looked beautiful in all the insert images. 😍😍😍
it's such a classic color combination. how can you go wrong? xo

Wish I was as stylish as you. 😊 Love your selections.

Thank you for your packing list! I have been looking for a black blazer. Just ordered the J. Crew standup collar after seeing yours. Perfect!
Glad you enjoyed your vacation. Great tip about 2 tops for each bottom. Great pieces. I adore your kurta also.
Dear Beth, You are a natural when creating outfits. I have learned so much from you. You keep it simple and stylish...thank you. ~Joanna♡

What a fabulous, cohesive capsule, Beth. You certainly covered all the bases in great style and gave me some terrific ideas.
hi rebecca! it's always hard narrowing down your travel wardrobe but well worth it once you hoist that suitcase. xo
You are so classy, it's amazing. We're the same age and you're giving me the encouragement I lost a few years ago. Thank you. :-)
You got this!
Great video, we don’t travel much but loved the creative combinations you featured for everyday outfits. That floral skirt is so pretty!
I love your wardrobe. Very stylish and sensible to go with black and white.
Excellent,
thank you! You are so good at this, Beth. I'd love to see how you packed it all.
What happened to color I realized black and white are basic colors work to💖
Very nice ideas. Just my preferences- I don’t care for jeans. We weren’t allowed to wear them in HS and it was a public school. For shoes I recommend SAS the style Maria’s . I can walk all day .
Elegant, classy, classic! Love your travel style! ❤️
Great video!! Love your style!! What type of suitcase did you use? Could you do a video on how you packed your toiletries and makeup?
Very chic - just a little higher end than I would chose. Will look into the shirt dress idea.
I like the outfits a lot. I may have taken a bit less but like it all. Thanks for the pics of outfits. Appreciate the extra effort in editing, adding that.

Love your hair style with your pretty white blouse.

Lovely outfits 👍🏻

I forgot to mention shoes. I just take two or three of them. Black Go Walk Sketchers (you can walk for hours on these), black sandals and a pair of flip flops for the hotel room or pool. I couldn't wear mules as I usually walk a lot on my trips.

Great tips. I’m traveling to California for 10 days., this was helpful
I loved what you took. Each piece was selected so thoughtfully. We will be traveling internationally soon and I'm going to try a b/w pallet
Love your tips ❤️
Great ideas. Thanks
Great wardrobe ideas, for travel and every day! Where did you get the tunic you are wearing in the video? Lovely!
the tunic is from Talbots. xo
Hello Cynthia
This video is so well organized and clear. How long were you away and what sized suitcase did you use. I'm hoping to do 2 weeks in Ireland in a carry on and this video gave me great ideas for mixing and matching items.
our trip was two weeks long. 24" spinner suitcase. xo
Id like to see a travel wardrobe with colour
Nicely done, Beth! Beautiful looks for Europe...you represented American women well...thanks! Did you check your bag or was everything carry on?
i checked my bag. it's a 24" spinner. xo
omg i just scored on those J Crew loafers!!! they were the last ones and in my size and they were 47.00!!!
I love this format so much better than your other look book videos....🤗
Marigold Humphrey each video serves a purpose. There’s room for both.
...can you do a tutorial for:: 1) carry on only for Hawaii and 2) Mexican all-inclusive with full suitcase? thnx!
УМНИЦА БЭТТ !!! 💖💖💖
Very well put together, and inspiring. What other color combination would you suggest for someone who doesn't do well in black or white?
