It turned out that it wasn't even a contest! Joey took down Kobayashi hard by downing 83 dogs to Kobayashi's 67 in 10 minutes with rules: No separation of bun and dog. No dunking into water and any crumbs/pieces and food left in the mouth after time expired was weighed and deducted from the total dogs ate for each competitor. Joey had nothing left in his mouth but Kobayashi did so he had to spit it out for them to weigh it.
No Joey Chestnut at this event so I’ll hold my judgment on this victory this year, until someone legitimately beats Joey Chestnut. Everyone is just runner-up.

It was time for a change. It was getting boring to see Chestnut always outeat these guys. Besides, Chesnut is off to bigger and better things now. I highly doubt he'll be back next year.
I'd prefer that change being someone able to dethrone Joey in legit competition. We got to see that when Joey defeated Kobayashi, it would've been much better to see that changing of the guard with Joey. After seeing this competition, I doubt any of those guys would've been able to accomplish such a feat.
