NUREMBERG Rallies site by National Socialists (1927-1938), Germany

  • Nuremberg, Germany - the National Socialist sites, the Nuremberg Rally sites in Nuremberg in Germany. The Nuremberg Rally (meaning Imperial Party Convention) was the annual rally of the Nazi Party in Nuremberg, Germany, held from 1923 to 1938. The Nuremberg Rallies were large Nazi propaganda events, especially after Adolf Hitler's rise to power in 1933. The Nuremberg Rallies were held at the Nazi party rally grounds in Nuremberg (which we are visiting here) from 1933 to 1938 and are usually referred to in English as the "Nuremberg Rallies".
From 1927 on, the Nuremberg Rallies took place exclusively in Nuremberg. The Party selected Nuremberg for pragmatic reasons: Nuremberg was in the center of the German Reich and the local Luitpoldhain (converted parkland) was well suited as a venue. In addition, the Nazis could rely on the well-organized local branch of the party in Franconia, then led by Gauleiter Julius Streicher. The Nuremberg police were sympathetic to the event.

I was stationed at Johnson Barracks in the early 80s with the U.S. Army.
After the killing of children with handicaps by Adolf Hitler. I felt it was fitting and ironic for us to hold the special Olympics for the children there in 1982 and 1983.
I felt that it was also a memorial to those who were killing for no reason but that they were physically challenged.

My wife and I went to Berchtesgaden years ago (just as a day excursion from Austria and for the views) and I wish we hadn't, there was a bad energy. Although the GI autographs in the fireplace wiped away most of that. Great video, first of yours I've seen. Subbing now :)

Albert Speer once planned to recreate all of Berlin with the same neoclassical theme that you see here. I think he found the Nuremburg structures and the scene design for the rallies as one of his proudest achievements. He was a frightening figure: A German from an aristocratic family and with a university education that fully succumbed to Hitler's will.
    Many thanks, Vic.

I use exclusively SONY equipment, this video was taped on an a-5000 camera.. It was around 10am on a Sunday, not too many tourists make it this far from Nuremberg..

Now of course it is. Sourcing information was extremely difficult....no internet back then! I relied mostly on books (scarce) but the first real breakthrough in UK came with the excellent "World at War" series of documentaries by which time i was 24 years old.
