Great post. I have read a lot of negative comments about Greg and i just dont get that. Number one for those of us lucky to know who this guy is and followed his career you know how special of a talent he is. His debut for Shrapnel records literally unplugged the neoclassical scene and put ALL the top dogs on immediate notice with his blues based shred. His live shows are incredible and will have you in disbelief the way EVH would have you in his early days. Stop all the hating and just enjoy! It's music man! One of the few things left on earth to enjoy!
When he came out he was blowing minds left and right. NO ONE had heard shredding like that before! He took all the chops of Yngwie but added groove and swing that to this day shred-masters have not been able to equal.
Such an amazing talent, his right hand synchronisation is phenomenal. It's amazing what a lot of practice can create. Such a humble nice guy and one serious guitarist. All the best Greg. The name says it all, HOWE do you play so well.
DevYanni O A beast indeed. You should check out an early album of his called Introspection . It’s awesome. I feel it’s one of the best guitar instrumental albums I’ve ever heard. It’s got a funky side to it.
so talented. How Greg took all that old Eddie Van Halen stuff and developed it into what Greg does is ultra impressive, to say the least (EVH must have crapped his pants when he heard GH). Thanks for the inspiring video...now I want to play my guitar.
I was a kid when Van Halen's first album came out...and, f#ck, it blew everyone's mind. "Eruption" seemed so badass and futuristic at the time....but, unfortunately, Eddie was too stoned to develop anything more complicated than that. Greg is the opposite, he just kept getting exponentially better over the years. His tapping was already fairly advanced on his first solo album, but he's always exploring and making it better (33:10 OMG!)
That clean tone thing he played was really cool, Does anyone know the name of that peice?. I dont much like the 'tap on extra notes shred' style, but I think hes the first to do that so it deserves respect.
Gosh I've rarely if ever read anything negative about Greg Howe. Much more common: "Incredible!" "Awesome!" "One of the best ever!" and "Nobody smokes Greg Howe!"
HELLO !!!ASK MISTER GREG HOWE HOW HE PLAYS - Unlocked --RIFF AND solo after riff ... "Faulty Outlet" -2 minutes 44 seconds - 3 minutes each. 30 seconds ... Plush Interior - from the 30th second like he tapp. playing?
hchoe741 He went from ESP to Laguna. The laguna-guitarline then was discontinued, but GH remained playing their guitars even though they really didn't exist anymore, that's how loyal this guy is. After some talks with Carvin about developping his own guitar, he decided to switch. I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed there the rest of his life.
Greg is amazing so nothing negative about him !! But constant lead licks and instrumentals just bore people please remember that its your free lesson of the day !!!
And yet he's somehow made a long career out playing those instrumentals - It's almost like you don't actually speak for other peoples' tastes and are in no position to be handing out 'lessons'.
Man hes an awesome olayer and his albums sound amazing but his live tone us not so nuch for me anyways. Maybe its just how it translates through being filmed or something idk
the song rhythem was good but a little shaky , when he started to solo i actually though'Oh no ?! he may suck , but then i remembered , He's Greg Howe ! He is great , His tone , i don't know , i hear guy at guitar center with a better tone , maybe a Engle amp or a Black Star , or just Peavey! How bout a EVH amp or V3 Carvin ? wtf , Tone is dry and lacks sustain , he records great but I d k
Not very clean. I really don't like people holding 2 strings with one finger unless they want that double stop sound but that's his way to do some stuff, but I'm not impressed at all. He does have some cool licks and stuff, but not one of my favorites. I'm actually disappointed at what I saw.
Holy ....he couldn’t be more monotonous. Same shit every 30 seconds it’s Ike we’re listening to a loop. Weak bends,no melodies,no groove. Plenty of tapped arpeggios though .
Do you refer to the things he play at the beginning? He is warming up, he plays no sense lines. For me he's a super rhythmic guitarist. A lot of groove on his playing, check his recordings! Or live performances where he improvise a lot!
Unexposed, underrated player and yet one of the great Guitar Gods of this century!
And last Century.
You never know, maybe this is the last century...
MrCalifornia0 2:18. Wow!
Underrated ? I do not think. He has played with the most important bands and musicians worldwide. (7ven years later) cheers !

Its because a lot of people in the guitar community are sad and jealous. Many of them play for 20 years and aren’t even close to this
When he came out he was blowing minds left and right. NO ONE had heard shredding like that before! He took all the chops of Yngwie but added groove and swing that to this day shred-masters have not been able to equal.
@@YaoEspirito 100 percent truth!!!!

Greg: "I'm gonna warm up"
*proceeds to play one of the sickest shreds I've ever heard*
Heard of this guy years back but never looked into his stuff...until a couple of years ago. Wow...this man is a joy to listen too
I found him because of a backing track about a week ago. He is a beast. Right up there with Guthrie for me.
DevYanni O

Listen to the albums Paralax and Wheelhouse to really get a feel for his genius. Cheers
@@YaoEspirito thank You! I have Paralax. Will check out the other
One of the only guitarists with enough balls to cover a Holdsworth song. Gonna see Greg in San Diego Aug 25th, cant' wait to have my face ripped off.
I thank you Greg. When I hear you play I feel so inspired . Such a humble and likeable person. Thank you . Aaron
This guy, Shawn Lane and Vinnie Moore were the best 3 players in the late to early 90's imo
Ken T still
vito bratta ring a bell?
HOLY SHIT I just looked up scott and my god is he insane. I thought buckethead was the god of tapping but that guy is fucking nuts.

Un véritable plaisir d'écouter la virtuosité de Greg howe !!!!
He’s just jammin around on a sticky sounding amp! This guy is awesome !!😎
Beat of a player with groove. His track "Run with It" will always blow me away. I can think of no other player that could play it as well\m/

taradead I can’t say greg is better , Edward’s style was so pure , love them both n yes they’re different. Simplicity is. Form of genius
Many have surpassed Eddie's technique, but never his songwriting. Love both of em.
?????????????????Honestly?so EVERYONE who taps ,plays modern rock guitar copied EVH,what a crock ,people have their own sounds and ideas .
really amazing ❤
Súper Greg Howe excelente técnica..!!!
Increible!
"I am not really that good" Come on Greg.
Greg Howe!!!

22:33 -.- it's 2017, i'm still waiting for a new instructive video...
Gosh I've rarely if ever read anything negative about Greg Howe. Much more common: "Incredible!" "Awesome!" "One of the best ever!" and "Nobody smokes Greg Howe!"
Excelenteeeee
Tremendo!
Master.
Greg is second to NON...He simply is the best guitar player ever existed.
He took what Hiram Bullock did light years further. Amazing musician
I think he sounds best with ESP
43:23 a partir daí começo a matar a saudade.
Un maestro.
I thing at the end Greg was pretty much speaking and understanding Russian! Lol
Badass then- now

Alguien me puede decir como ubico al hermano de Greg que grabo dos cd con el canta una barbaridad, gracias,
What was the first song he played with the backing track?

His right forearm is so muscular like body builder ha ha.
Yeah he is great and tasty player not only fast.
Yeah, he's a sinewy, wirey guy.
Cara genial

he sounds best with this ESP guitar, but I don't know is it because the guitar or something else.
Esse cara é mais guitarrista que Satriani e Vai tecnicamente falando !!
Anyone know what the first backing track song is that he plays? Thanks
Alec Dawson it’s called “present moment” from a a collaboration between him and Richie Kotzen on their 2nd album called Project

It's a clinic. Don't expect expensive sound from live situations.
marginal at best
like your mom
Mwoah...I’ve heard him play better....rather listen to Ritchie Kotzen IMHO

Eddu13 lol. Maybe if you had some world acclaim, your feeble minded opinion would matter.
get the hell out then..
a tad overrated, but not underrated
