    I highly recommend this reloading press to anyone looking at starting to reload.
    Easy to use and lots of great videos on using the press.

      I agree, I'd of started reloading sooner if I'd known of these budget alternatives, since I didn't have a bench before. Affordable way to see if you want to take it further.

    Lee sells die sets with 3 or 4 dies in them. I think what's not included with the 3 die set is a factory crimp die? Is that correct?

    You might try to use some valve grinding compound on the ram shaft, the compound is lightly abrasive and will help seat the shaft. Wipe a small amount on the shaft and cycle the shaft multiple times. When you notice the "jerkiness" start to ease up. Wipe all compound off shaft and clean completely with rubbing alcohol. Use a graphite spray on the shaft and this will help smooth out that action. If it stills has a little bit of "jerkiness", repeat the process. Just try not to overdue the abrasive portion.

    Not sure of your evidence as to which dies are superior since you’ve been reloading only since 2020. The only way is to load using different dies and test each group for accuracy and velocity being careful to use consistency for all groups of reloads. Not trying to be critical. I’ve owned Dillion’s, Redding’s, Lee and Hornady. Liked watching your Lee portable which I’ve never owned. Thanks

    • @lomberetactical1844
      @lomberetactical1844  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I make my judgments off of using different dies and viewing how the ammunition comes out in terms of quality. The Lee does do a fine job but I have found that the Dillon and Redding does have a different feel to them while using the press and the finished ammunition looks a little more refined in my opinion. Also, I speak to other reloaders such as the guy that owns the reload shop near me and he also thinks Redding dies are superior.

    I bought this hand press and even after using multiple bench presses i feel this is something everyone should have in their reloading arsenal. I feel i make more accurate rounds using this. Do yourself a favor and buy the lee carbide 4 set die with quick change collets and buy a 3 piece lock nut wrench set made for conduit and you'll be happy you did. I used the half inch wrench and it was practically perfect for tightening and removing dies. Well i misplaced the half inch and so i went with the next size up 3/4 and only one side worked okay so i decided to modify the wrench by hammering in both sides of each wrench to make it work perfect and after finding both 1/2 inch and 3/4inch wrenches they both work great just toss the 1inch wrench in your tool box you'll never use it for this press

    If your Lee dies are adjusted off a Lee Turret press and you want to be portable by taking your Lee Hand Press out; do you have to readjust all the dies again to use on their Hand Press?

  • @timothyadams3431
    @timothyadams3431 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    i can see why you prefer to load the powder into the case separate from the hand press. If you have to set the handpress down with a case in it loaded with powder and no bullet, the powder may fall out, no? It would be great if Lee made a stand or base for the hand press for this reason....with one hand you have to hold the press upright, while using your other hand to prepare the press for seating a bullet into the charged case.

  • @wades623
    @wades623 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    if you dont pull it all the way down and leave the primer holder just below the hole where the case goes it makes it a lot easier to put a primer in it and makes it less likely to fall somewhere and lose it

    I think the walnut shell tumbling media is superior to the corn cob media. It is a lot finer than corn and doesn't really get stuck in the primer hole.

    Best how to video I have seen so far, on how to use the Lee Hand Press to reload. All of the others I have seen have been uploaded by idiots who try to describe their review videos as complete 'how-to' videos, but these guys have already done several of the necessary steps off camera and then skip ahead to show the finished product. This really does aggravate me more than I can find words to describe.
    I would like to see more step by step, leaving out NO steps, of reviews and how to videos for more commonly used calibers like 9mm, .38 Special and .357 magnum for this Lee Breech Hand Press, though.

    Just like on the full size Lee press, you need to loosen the lever nuts. It dramatically helps the piston.

      Have you used it yet? I've had mine for a few weeks now and have made hundreds of rounds and I enjoy every minute of it. I have processed 2000 rounds of 45acp by de-capping and resizing 1k every one night and another 1k and another night my only gripe and it's really not a huge deal is having to clear out the primer pocket on the hand press I wish it was deeper or it had a little opening or bottle where the spent primers could go in.

    When you bell the casing to accept the bullet, is that also "resizing" the casing? And when would you use the included lubricant? is it less neccesary to use lubricant with carbide dies? Do you ever measure the casing length and trim accordingly, or just measure the casing with the bullet seated?

    These have been marketed by "Lee" for decades. I know if lots of shooters who take them right out to the shooting range when "working up" a load for their "New" rifle.
    Though some Club Ranges will have a shed or "Hut" equipped with a bench mounted reloading press as well as a few other essentials, most do not. So you've got to bring your own gear to the range.
    For just doing a few loads. Say, maybe, a box full of 20 rounds of rifle ammo, these are perfectly fine.

    Hi first time commenting on your channel. I did enjoy your video on Lee’s hand reloading tool. I definitely like to try it out and start reloading on a budget. I would like to see your video on how to set up reloading dies on the hand press..

  • @luvtahandload7692
    @luvtahandload7692 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hold the press vertically when trying to get a case to enter a die. Shellholder's are a little sloppy so the case will lean if the press isn't vertical. Bell the mouth JUST enough to admit the bullet. Excessive belling makes it difficult for the case to enter the seating die.

    What other "must haves" will I need to get into reloading with this hand press? Obviously, the die set for the caliber of my choosing (6mm ARC). What else?
    Scale, any other measurement tools? Am I better off with Lee's sub $300 reloading kit?

I can’t wait to dive into it, especially after watching your detailed video! I plan on reloading a lot of .223, 5.56, 45ACP, 10mm, 9mm, .308, .22LR and some .25ACP (if I can find dies for that one.) Thanks again for a great video!

    I just finished watching this video. I'm thinking about getting into reloading my ammunition. I shoot a lot of 9mm with my wife and this fall I've found 243 ammunition to be non existent. I've looked at these lee hand loaders and gave been curious about them. This video was really good and your narrative skills are awesome sir! I dont think I'd become a true serious reloading fanatic by no means, but knowing I could successfully reload some hunting ammo and handgun loads to stay active in our shooting seems like a good idea. I appreciate your help and I went ahead and subscribed to your channel for future help. Just wanted to say thank you. I'm certain you'll be a guiding force to my learning quest of reloading. God bless you sir.

      that's amazing to hear. I've been extremely busy and haven't been able to upload new videos but I will work on getting some new videos up soon. Ya reloading is a great skill to have and just having the know how means that you will always be able to have ammo, even during times like we have seen with shortages.
