I put the playback speed at .75 and followed the first part pretty well. I think I got the part about setting aux1 for arm. I’m using the same “SA” switch. But then when you said “set up all your other switches” I’m totally lost. I’m hoping that arm is the main one. Then on to Lua scripts I hav/e no idea.

@@DarrenAllatt did you forget to setup the “inputs” I’m so confused 😅. Other videos I’ve seen must be old because ADC filter was different but in those videos they show setting up the “inputs” and then matching them or making the mixes the same. Thank you dude!!

I did everything, as you showed in your video, thank you for that, but my problem is: For the first time I could not find CRSF, as I wanted to change Internal RF to CRSF, than I changed it in the global settings, and than I could thange in my new model (ExpressLRS). hi good day, I'm having a hard time working my receiver(speedybee nano 2.4G) and transmitter(radiomaster boxer) to communicate with each other, aux switches are not responding in beta flight configurator modes tab, but when I move the gimbal stick they are functioning correspondingly as in the 3d model on the receiver tab. I'm gladly appreciate your advice, thank you very much and more power to your channel.

I’m planning on just using it with Velocidrone initially - what set up will I need to do for this - or can I just plug it straight into the PC? Will I need to flash? Your work is great. I have two whoops binded to the boxer. Now I’m adding a nazgul elrs to it. Do I need to bind using binding phrase, if yes then o have update firmware again on the boxeer as I didn’t use binding phrase for the whoops before. Will the whoops need rebinding?
Is there a reason you want to update EdgeTX Firmware? Most issues people face in FPV are from updating firmware when really it doesn't need to be updated. If it's not broken, don't fix it!
No need just once for the boxer, and you need to make sure that each of your drones have been flashed with the same binding phrase and major firmware version
Great video @DarrenAllatt !!! I'm having issues that ocmputer isn't recognizing the usb port. Under device manager it gives me the error of Code 10 which I suspect is not letting me finish my upgrade FW. On the radio I under system I select ELRS lua but it hangs trying to load it. If you can steer me in the right direction that would be great!
according to Microsoft: "Code 10 "This device cannot start. In the device's Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to update the driver. Note You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver."
I have the same radio and setting up my first quad .. thanks for the tutorial. Question - you did not mention the packet rate but i see that you are using 250Hz and 1:64 for telemetry .. is that what you generally recommend for everything? (there are way too many other options in there that i don't quite understand yet). Thanks for your help.
I use 250hz packet rate because it’s a good balance of speed, range & penetration. Packet rate is how fast the radio talks to the receiver, The faster it talks the less range and penetration you get. I don’t need F1000, or any of the others. Truth is, people can’t actually tell the difference anyway so it’s kind of mute.
Hi, I like 1 of my switches down towards me but i get a switch warning every time i turn it on. Is there a way to tell my radio that the switch that is down towards me is the default position so i dont get this warning every time? Im using the RM boxer. Thanks in advance Darren
I am new to the hobby, just got this radio for liftoff, i saw yours at 7.8v battery, can i know at what voltage should i charge the radio and how do i charge it? I have been using it for liftoff for 2 weeks and it is 6.8v now.
You are doing a super job with your channel. Your content is absolutely relevant and timely. Have you explored the implications of DJI and security concerns with remote Id now on the person. It feels like TH-camrs have stayed away from this topic but it’s a great point for sticking with analog. You won’t be able to use your quads or gear to defend or secure your property if the opposition is in control of the metadata on “hostile” pilot locations and take off points.
No. Remote ID which includes the pilot’s location is “standard remote id” which is on Pre-Built UAS, or consumer products. If you are wanting to defend or secure your property with a UAS, it will be a “home made”, and the pilots location is not included in the RID message. Further, if you are “defending” your property, they already know where you are - you are on your property defending it. Thus rendering the entire argument void. If you are worried about “the opposition”, whoever they may be. As stupid as I think the 2A is (as an Australian) anyone thinking of invading USA would be stupid because not only does USA have the largest Military, it is the most heavily armed population. Also, if you are so concerned about “hostilities”, you probably need to get off the internet, stop reading and buying into that garbage. It’s not only far stretched, but seriously impacts on mental health. Living in a constant state of fear, because of what you consume online, is giving “the opposition” exactly what they want.
You just admitted the opposition exists. Opposition is just that. And certainly being prepared is not going to be considered foolish. I think that is a personal decision everyone needs to consider. Again my concern here is not invalid as it has already taken place in Eastern Europe. Its not theoretical it has transpired. Should we assume it won’t be done to us?
I used “opposition” in “ to highlight your words. There is no opposition, just one you are made to believe in by online nutters who want you to live in fear. You can’t compare Russia / Ukraine with the USA. Go do some basic geography, look at those countries on a map, look at USA on a map.

Don't you need to make sure the receiver is on the same version? Or does it do that automatically? Do you also have to bind the receiver? Or does it do that automatically?
As long as the receiver is on the same major version ie 3.x or 2.x you will be fine. All devices sharing the same binding phrase, same major version and same frequency (ie 2.4ghz) are automatically bound.
@@charliemaybe you will probably need to assign the driver to the usb port its connected to in device manager did you select USB VCP on the radio after connecting? are you using the top port and not the bottom?

Hey great Video. I am having some trouble binding my boxer and I am a beginner. I followed your instructions but I didn't flash the firmware bc I ordered it from radiomaster and they said it shipped with the latest firmware(I got it last week). I have a tx16 (ELRS) that works with my drones (Hummingbird F4 V2 and Evoque F5 6s) and I tried setting it up exactly like it and it didn't work. Could you help me please. Thank you in advance.
What version of ELRS is your Boxer, and what version is your TX16S running? What version is on the Hummingbird and the Nazgûl. Just because it ships with the “latest” doesn’t mean it doesn’t need to flashed. If you are using a binding phrase then you will need to flash. Your receivers need to be on the same major version as your radio, for the Boxer that’s v3x
@@DarrenAllatt My boxer says it's version is 2.8.0-factory and my tx16 says its 2.7.1 (a55aff02). The Hummingbird says It's 4.3.1 BTFL and the Nazgul says it's 4.4.0 BTFL. I'm not sure what a binding phrase is or the major version but I am going to try to look it up. I hope I looked in the right places for everything. Also for the packet rate I have it set to 50hz. The instructions on the nazgul said it would give the best range. It works on the tx16 with both drones. Do I need to change this?
If you're having issues setting this up I'd recommend visiting the ELRS quick setup guide. I had the issue where it was not detecting my device correctly therefore in the manual firmware box it was selecting COM5 and failing. The fix for me was to update the firmware which I found from the website mentioned under the 3rd section "Update the TX Module"
@darrenallat Hi mate, mate thanks for the tutorial this was really helpful! I understood most of what was being said when initially visiting this video but as it lacks on detail (due to being a 5 min setup guide) it makes more sense after going through the ELRS quick start guide and using some other tutorials before this one. One suggestion is to post the link to the ELRS setup guide as well as any other resources of interest as if people have issues, they'll likely be lost in what to do next and be relying on you replying
Ok I did that but when I select express elrs it stay at “loading” and nothing else happens. I can’t flash anything when using usb or WiFi. Via usb it says something related to com port
@@CarlosRodriguez-vg2ob That is the expected behaviour. You dont have an ExpressLRS radio - you have the 4in1 which doesnt have ELRS, so ExpressLRS lua script not loading is the expected behaviour. If you want to run ELRS, you will need an external module plugged into the back, where you follow this tutorial but select External intstead of Internal during the model setup.
@@DarrenAllatt but the box says that it has an internal ELRS module capable of 1000Hz refresh rate. Does that not mean that it has an internal ELRS module and I should be fine?
@@CarlosRodriguez-vg2ob I only have the information you tell me - and in your first comment, you said you have the 4in1 On the ELRS version, the only option for Internal is CRSF On the 4in1 version, you can select Multi. If you can select Multi, you have the 4in1 and not the ELRS version.
I bought the cc2500 by mistake is there a way to put elrs on the radio other than buying a module which I have ordered and am waiting on any help is appreciated
I smashed my tx16 because it wouldn't work for 2 days. Got a boxer and hopefully it works this time around. If luis script says C and the FC has a solid green and the controller doesnt work in betalflight. What do you think is the problem? - Hdzero freestyle - elrs - tx16 (elrs interna) Nothing working in betaflight when my tx16 was connected to FC
@DarrenAllatt Both. I did learn that TX and RX firmware must match, which was done thanks to your video. Another noob question. Is bench testing throttle unfeasible? After arming, I blip the throttle but the throttle stays on and revs high without my input.

At the 2:24 minute mark you say you need to repeat this for every channel. I’m confused. Are you talking like the sticks on channel 1 through four? I don’t understand what you mean. Repeat this for all the other switches And channels.
When setting my InternalRF mode to CRSF, instead of saying "250Hz 0Err"" it flashes between "250Hz 9Err" and "1000hz 9Err" I have searched around on how to solve this problem but have been unsuccessful. Any thoughts? I also posted this on The Bench for help. Edit: I sent a message on The Bench late at night and Darren instantly responded and was able to help me through the troubleshooting of this and we were able to get it fixed! Thank you Darren!
@DarrenAllatt Hey Darren, Im Donovan and I plugged in my radio master boxer Elrs to my computer and unplugged it not realizing it would mess it up and now there is nothing on the tools page on my radio. When I plug my card into my computer the scripts and tools are on it. I cannot figure out how to fix this. If you have any way of doing so would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

have you added them to your Mixer? From ELRS Website ELRS supports up to 16 channels*. Channels 1-4 are always sent at full-resolution (10-bit). The resolution and update rate of the remaining channels can be configured as follows, based on your requirements: 4x full-resolution (10-bit) channels for sticks (CH1-4) with either: HYBRID Mode 1x 2-position channel, AUX1 (CH5; Must be used for Arming), 6x 2-position/3-position/6-position (AUX2-7) and 1x 16-position (AUX8), OR WIDE Mode 1x 2-position channel, AUX1 (CH5; Must be used for Arming), 7x 64 or 128-position channels (AUX2-8). Available via the Lua Script since 2.0. 8x full-resolution (10-bit, ext-limits) with 1x 2-position channel, AUX1 16x full-resolution (10-bit, ext-limits, all half rate) with 1x 2-position channel, AUX1 12x full-resolution (10-bit, ext-limits) with 1x 2-position channel, AUX1, channels AUX2-9 run at half rate.
boxer shipped with 3.2.0 was trying to flash to 3.3.0 but the error message "could not find port". this means i will need to reinstate or update pc driver to proceed?
assuming you've got it plugged in the right USB port (top) and selected the right USB mode, and is it showing up as OpenTX in drop down on ELRS configurator? If not, you will need the CP210x drivers
Sorry I am confused. At 2mins 20 you say "all you need to do is repeat the process for every different channel." Didn't we just allocate arm/disarm? Allocate what function to the other switches? There are 7 channels, but 4 switches. What do we do with the last switch?
Hello, i need your help with it. i cant switch Internal RF mode on CRSF, it only let me do "multi" and then i set up all switches i go to SYS and press button ExpressLRS and all i see it is loading screen forever. Spend hours on this radiomaster already :(
You don’t have the ExpressLRS version of the radio, you have the multi protocol version. So you can’t use ELRS, and you will need to get an external module.
@@DarrenAllatt hey so now that I’ve got my radio sorted out I need help with my drone I’m not sure if you can help me but it’s worth a try so I have a whoopfly 16 and I have upgraded it’s firmware on beta flight but when I bind it beta flight shows me that it has bonded but when I move aux 1 throttle or anything those bar things don’t move at all please help me
@Darren Allatt thanks for your reply! I should have updated this comment, I've got the flash completed by building and selecting wifi, the problem seems to be my laptop! It says that the com port doesn't exist or failed to communicate along those lines. after researching and downloading older drivers just for expresslrs those ended in the same way. It appears my laptop closes the port after it being open for so long or something along those lines because the download worked it gave me another com port, com4, before the flash can be finished it's almost like the it gets ended by the computer. It's a new HP 15. with an older processor core3. It came in windows s mode, I had to take it out of safe mode just to install programs.
@Darren Allatt I flashed edgetx first on the same laptop with the same USB-C cord, there's something else I did that was bad though, I didn't finish model setup and open elrs lua before I tried to flash express. And because of that I wonder if I soft bricked it.
I got a pop up after the build and flash command. It’s still flashing in the background but I was asked to I stall tools for the python3 command line. I don’t know what that is.

Express LRS is the best... I set up my radio in 5 minutes too. Using the USB upload function is even faster and easier than wifi!

just use traditional binding on the Nazgul and you will be fine.

No need just once for the boxer, and you need to make sure that each of your drones have been flashed with the same binding phrase and major firmware version

Great video @DarrenAllatt !!! I'm having issues that ocmputer isn't recognizing the usb port. Under device manager it gives me the error of Code 10 which I suspect is not letting me finish my upgrade FW. On the radio I under system I select ELRS lua but it hangs trying to load it. If you can steer me in the right direction that would be great!
according to Microsoft:
"Code 10 "This device cannot start.
In the device's Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to update the driver. Note You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver."

I have the same radio and setting up my first quad .. thanks for the tutorial. Question - you did not mention the packet rate but i see that you are using 250Hz and 1:64 for telemetry .. is that what you generally recommend for everything? (there are way too many other options in there that i don't quite understand yet). Thanks for your help.
I use 250hz packet rate because it’s a good balance of speed, range & penetration.
Packet rate is how fast the radio talks to the receiver,
The faster it talks the less range and penetration you get.
I don’t need F1000, or any of the others.
Truth is, people can’t actually tell the difference anyway so it’s kind of mute.

Hi, I like 1 of my switches down towards me but i get a switch warning every time i turn it on. Is there a way to tell my radio that the switch that is down towards me is the default position so i dont get this warning every time? Im using the RM boxer.

I am new to the hobby, just got this radio for liftoff, i saw yours at 7.8v battery, can i know at what voltage should i charge the radio and how do i charge it? I have been using it for liftoff for 2 weeks and it is 6.8v now.
Plug it into the bottom USB C port when you are not using it and it will charge

Have you explored the implications of DJI and security concerns with remote Id now on the person. It feels like TH-camrs have stayed away from this topic but it’s a great point for sticking with analog.
You won’t be able to use your quads or gear to defend or secure your property if the opposition is in control of the metadata on “hostile” pilot locations and take off points.

Remote ID which includes the pilot’s location is “standard remote id” which is on Pre-Built UAS, or consumer products. If you are wanting to defend or secure your property with a UAS, it will be a “home made”, and the pilots location is not included in the RID message.
Further, if you are “defending” your property, they already know where you are - you are on your property defending it. Thus rendering the entire argument void.
If you are worried about “the opposition”, whoever they may be. As stupid as I think the 2A is (as an Australian) anyone thinking of invading USA would be stupid because not only does USA have the largest Military, it is the most heavily armed population.

As long as the receiver is on the same major version ie 3.x or 2.x you will be fine. All devices sharing the same binding phrase, same major version and same frequency (ie 2.4ghz) are automatically bound.

Yes, you need to install the CP210 driver. Link in Betaflight

Hey great Video. I am having some trouble binding my boxer and I am a beginner. I followed your instructions but I didn't flash the firmware bc I ordered it from radiomaster and they said it shipped with the latest firmware(I got it last week). I have a tx16 (ELRS) that works with my drones (Hummingbird F4 V2 and Evoque F5 6s) and I tried setting it up exactly like it and it didn't work. Could you help me please. Thank you in advance.
What version of ELRS is your Boxer, and what version is your TX16S running?
What version is on the Hummingbird and the Nazgûl.
Just because it ships with the “latest” doesn’t mean it doesn’t need to flashed. If you are using a binding phrase then you will need to flash.
Your receivers need to be on the same major version as your radio, for the Boxer that’s v3x
@@DarrenAllatt My boxer says it's version is 2.8.0-factory and my tx16 says its 2.7.1 (a55aff02). The Hummingbird says It's 4.3.1 BTFL and the Nazgul says it's 4.4.0 BTFL. I'm not sure what a binding phrase is or the major version but I am going to try to look it up. I hope I looked in the right places for everything. Also for the packet rate I have it set to 50hz. The instructions on the nazgul said it would give the best range. It works on the tx16 with both drones. Do I need to change this?

My tx macs out at 100mW, I seen others with 100mW, how do the get 1000mW notice yours was 100mw
If you're having issues setting this up I'd recommend visiting the ELRS quick setup guide. I had the issue where it was not detecting my device correctly therefore in the manual firmware box it was selecting COM5 and failing. The fix for me was to update the firmware which I found from the website mentioned under the 3rd section "Update the TX Module"

I understood most of what was being said when initially visiting this video but as it lacks on detail (due to being a 5 min setup guide) it makes more sense after going through the ELRS quick start guide and using some other tutorials before this one. One suggestion is to post the link to the ELRS setup guide as well as any other resources of interest as if people have issues, they'll likely be lost in what to do next and be relying on you replying

Ok I did that but when I select express elrs it stay at “loading” and nothing else happens. I can’t flash anything when using usb or WiFi. Via usb it says something related to com port
@@CarlosRodriguez-vg2ob That is the expected behaviour. You dont have an ExpressLRS radio - you have the 4in1 which doesnt have ELRS, so ExpressLRS lua script not loading is the expected behaviour. If you want to run ELRS, you will need an external module plugged into the back, where you follow this tutorial but select External intstead of Internal during the model setup.
@@DarrenAllatt but the box says that it has an internal ELRS module capable of 1000Hz refresh rate. Does that not mean that it has an internal ELRS module and I should be fine?

On the ELRS version, the only option for Internal is CRSF
On the 4in1 version, you can select Multi.
If you can select Multi, you have the 4in1 and not the ELRS version.
I bought the cc2500 by mistake is there a way to put elrs on the radio other than buying a module which I have ordered and am waiting on any help is appreciated
The only way is to buy an External Module. The internal transmitter is not capable of running ELRS

@DarrenAllatt Both. I did learn that TX and RX firmware must match, which was done thanks to your video. Another noob question. Is bench testing throttle unfeasible? After arming, I blip the throttle but the throttle stays on and revs high without my input.

You don’t have the ELRS version, you have a CC2500 or a JP4in1 Multi protocol module.

At the 2:24 minute mark you say you need to repeat this for every channel. I’m confused. Are you talking like the sticks on channel 1 through four? I don’t understand what you mean. Repeat this for all the other switches And channels.
When setting my InternalRF mode to CRSF, instead of saying "250Hz 0Err"" it flashes between "250Hz 9Err" and "1000hz 9Err"
I have searched around on how to solve this problem but have been unsuccessful. Any thoughts? I also posted this on The Bench for help.

assuming you've got it plugged in the right USB port (top) and selected the right USB mode, and is it showing up as OpenTX in drop down on ELRS configurator? If not, you will need the CP210x drivers

Hello, i need your help with it. i cant switch Internal RF mode on CRSF, it only let me do "multi" and then i set up all switches i go to SYS and press button ExpressLRS and all i see it is loading screen forever. Spend hours on this radiomaster already :(
You don’t have the ExpressLRS version of the radio, you have the multi protocol version.
So you can’t use ELRS, and you will need to get an external module.

@Darren Allatt thanks for your reply! I should have updated this comment, I've got the flash completed by building and selecting wifi, the problem seems to be my laptop! It says that the com port doesn't exist or failed to communicate along those lines. after researching and downloading older drivers just for expresslrs those ended in the same way. It appears my laptop closes the port after it being open for so long or something along those lines because the download worked it gave me another com port, com4, before the flash can be finished it's almost like the it gets ended by the computer. It's a new HP 15. with an older processor core3. It came in windows s mode, I had to take it out of safe mode just to install programs.
@Darren Allatt I flashed edgetx first on the same laptop with the same USB-C cord, there's something else I did that was bad though, I didn't finish model setup and open elrs lua before I tried to flash express. And because of that I wonder if I soft bricked it.
I got a pop up after the build and flash command. It’s still flashing in the background but I was asked to I stall tools for the python3 command line. I don’t know what that is.
