    Excellent video. I bought one last week. Today I went to the range and did a comparison between my new Girsan Regard and my Beretta 92A1. I will tell you I shot just as good and sometimes better with the Regard. It is every bit as good as my Beretta! I wish I would have known about Girsan Regard before I spent all that money on my 92A1!

      @@BuckeyeBallistics I definitely plan on adding more Girsan’s to my collection. You can buy two for the price you would spend on just one gun from the major brands.

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Regard is probably the best product they make, and as I was told, it's literally a Beretta with a different name on it- so it would make sense why it's so good. If you buy some of their other designs, it might not quite stack up to the quality of the Regard. We did feature one of their 1911's on the channel a year or two ago. I really liked the gun and it seemed to have pretty good fit and finish and killer looks, but we had issues getting it to run hollow points. I posted a 3 video series about it, all easily accessed via my 1911 playlist on the channel. But I didn't state this to steer you away from Girsan, but just as random information since you are interested in the brand. It is my understanding that their other pistols are pretty reliable and decent as well, just I would imagine not quite up to par with the Regard. But I can't honestly say because I haven't handled enough of them yet...

    I love this pistol! It was very easy for me to learn and practice handing. Not big guns person but I'm a big self defense person. Loud noises are very unsettling to me. Always hated fireworks. Beretta also sold the dies and plans for the Cougar 8000 series to Stoeger in Turkey. They have the tendency to dump their older models in such places. The failure to renew a US military contract made a lot of the tooling here irrelevant. One of the contract stipulations was the M9 had to be made in the USA. The Brazilian military had similar stipulations, hence the reason Beretta dumped the dies/plans on Taurus after the contract ran out.

    I got mine for $350. The only malfunctions I have had are ammunition related. Cheap ammo will fail to extract sometimes with these just like 92s. Then it will try to feed into an empty shell casing. Flat nosed and hollow points have never given me problems. I've had only 5 of these malfunctions. And only with cheap ammo. Fiocchi/Winchester seem to be the most reliable range ammo for it. Speer, Hornady, and Winchester M1152 feed reliably. And yes you can run +P. I ran a box of M1152 thru it. It doesn't care

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah but I mean what are you comparing it to? A striker fire or double action? I assumed at first you were comparing it to a striker fire. Locking block and cut in slide is different.

      @@prwtotokos61 : The Girsan is made with actual Beretta tooling shipped from Italy, the Taurus was made with Beretta tooling installed in Brazil. Another Girsan plus is that during manufacture, they employ a 70/30 process (70% machine tooled/final 30 percent hand tooled) where Beretta used a 90/10 process. That's why the finishing when you break a Girsan down is so nice and the slides move like they are on roller bearings.
