  • This video offers an overview of just how many diminutive masterpieces have been produced for our favoured scale of 1:120.
    With a large variety of products mentioned, I am simply providing a general range link (affiliate) below:

    Another significant factor in the state of TT120 scale modelling is the positive attitude from the many TT120 TH-cam influencers and related content providers. Fortunately, it was a successful birth and the child is showing good immunity to the hate viruses.

    It's doing alright, if they keep up this pace they'll be matching or outdoing the development of OO. If anyone else is working on stuff there's gonna be few years lag before its announced but I would be genuinely suprised if someone isn't.
    Heljan would be criminal inept to not he working behind the scenes on a 20, 26, 27 or 33. Any of those things that they already have extensive research portfolios on.

      I suppose for others it depends if they are following the Bachmann (and now Hornby) style lead of only announcing 6 months from release. It would be a huge boost to see that level of confidence from an outside manufacturer.

    Nice one Greg. It's great to be reminded of how far TT has come on in such a short period of time. I've patiently waited for the Duchess to come, and it doesn't disappoint! Cracking model. That said, I was somewhat distracted by your bookshelves...

      Thanks for commenting DB-08... yes I've had a few remarks re the books! They're my bosom friends! My real world calling is as a minister, so these are Christian commentaries and theology books. The trains are my way to relax now and then. Thanks for asking!

    A nicely put together vid! While being aware of all that has been released, having gone all-in with TT:120, it's nice to see an overview along with some 'teaser' 'reminders of what's up-coming. Great work.

      Thanks Michael - it's quite an impressive feat for Hornby thus far. If they can keep it up we'll be spoilt for choice soon.

    So far the TT120 from hornby has been pretty good but the lack off Southern Railway and Great Western locos and coaches is a bit off a let down and no blue and grey Mk1s and restaurant coaches.hopefully they will come .i did ask peco if they are releasing any new wagons or coaches and they said not at present. Which is a shame probably due to the coupling system wasn't liked.

    • @mactrains
      @mactrains  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am surprised that Peco haven't pushed ahead more. Their wagons were a good complement to what Hornby made. We still await their signals too. I am sure the SR and GWR will get more love but likely not till next year. Thanks for watching!

    Great summary Greg, I found your sound volume very low though, even with my laptop at 100%. Keep the observations and content coming, we now have a number of very complimentary and active observers, reviewers and dare I say 'influencers' championing the scale and we can't wait to see what is to come from the current and potentially future manufacturers to this fine scale.

    Thanks for this summary! Yes Hornby have made pretty good progress since the start. The models are generally great, with 2 caveats for me - 1) their QC needs to improve to the level where simple 4-wheel wagon chassis and bogie vehicles are not released and sold until they are properly tested and run well out of the box; and 2) if items are going to be limited editions (eg. blue 08) or short runs, people should be warned upfront, not told when they've already vanished! I'm quite near jumping into TT:120 (despite not being wild about either of the 2 track systems), but the convincing point for me will be when another more major (with respect) manufacturer gets involved. Nothing like a bit of competition to keep things honest. Thanks again, enjoy all your vids and your positive attitude!

    • @mactrains
      @mactrains  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      QC has at times been an issue. What encourages me is that so far Hornby have been very receptive to feedback. There are new 12T tankers due later this year (not mentioned in the video). They are meant to have been tweaked to improve their running. If they manage that I'd say it's looking good! Thanks for a thoughtful comment.

    A fair summary Greg. As I commented on one of Peachy's videos the other day, I think in the last six months, the scale has come of age. Onwards and upwards.

    And if what we are told, more to come in the autumn. I've got my J50 and 08 on order.
    Quite a few people are complaining about the rising prices of model railway stock (not just TT). But we are now coming to expect heavy metal bodies, exquisite detail, better motors, DCC decoders, sound effects and multiple lighting effects. All of which add to the cost of a loco and its development. We can't have it both ways.

    • @mactrains
      @mactrains  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pricing is always hard isn't it? No one can ever argue it's a bargain hobby. It is a luxury hobby, even at the budget end thats true. I do feel the pricing is about right, but would be delighted to see no more rises for a year at least. Thanks for commenting.
