The building is nice , equipments are new but it takes human beings with good heart and the right attitude to make it work. I currently work in one of the hospitals in the U.S and I can say from video that I like the UG hospital set up the only difference over here is the people. Patient- centered care is what is needed. Maintenance culture is needed to keep the building new every day. Employees should not steal the hospital resources like drugs, and PPEs to sell them in other private clinics. Unnecessary referrals of patients by some doctors to private facilities must be monitored. "Artificial no-bed syndrome" must be avoided. All these can be achieved with efficient and robust monitoring systems such as CCT TV, continuous inventory, and employee must be bold to report when they see something going on. Lastly the hospital must use punch in and out system to track the productivity of each employee.

In any case purchasing equipment for a magnificent building like that doesn’t meant you build it ok? Does that matter anyway? Why wait 5 years denying your own citizens a bed in a hospital building to lay their sick if you care about them? Why allow only the privileged in the society to use the facility until you are forced under duress before opening it to the public? F off with those lame excuses! Ghanaians are wild awake now! @@majestica2474 I decided not to intervene but I need to make some corrections scorby parry is right equipments can be very expansive but most Ghanaians don't know as someone who works at the Radiology department I can say 3T MRI machine is between 1 million to 3 million dollors depending on the brand , especially Siemens are expensive. CT machines and x-ray machines can cost millions. 1 c-arm can cost $70k . This is just one department alone not talking about incubators, surgical equipments, laboratory equipments, IT infrastructure, respiratory equipments, drugs for pharmacy departments, security and fire systems . UGMC is a very good place to seek care if you can afford.
One doctor who really impressed me is Dr. Daniel York.
Dr. York came there briefly to check on his patient but find time to talk to me.
My brother was admitted in the cardio unit and he spent a good amount of time explaining my brother’s condition to me.
That really gave me a sense of relief as I am currently leaving in U.S and was very worried.
    🙏🙏🙏
If you visit Ghana and you happened to need health care, please go to UGMC.
