My wife and I have been married 22 years and I get that pointing finger shook at me almost daily!! So enjoy those beautiful children of yours and also that Side Eye your wife gives you regularly.
Buy a land few minutes away from the city. Where the internet signal is good. It's hard to build a house in province in the type of business you're in . plus make it sure you're close to school and hospital. Here's my take, for me it is best to have a stable foundation like a house while kids are growing up .soon as they will start high-school and college money is gonna be tight. Stable house is important to have a home you can comeback to. You as a foreign husband you can do a legal arrangement so you'll be rest assured that you can and will live forever if you wish to.

Maria is learning her English and understanding you now, and I'm to tell you the truth worried about Forest G. I know Filipino boys are much slower but still maybe you should look into it just saying I'm not trying to hurt your feelings. And yes I am married to a Filipino and I have three children two girls and one boy and he is slow. My first daughter is a emergency room nurse my second is my son and he's pretty much a lost cause my third is a graduate from Pharmaceutical and also working at a job that pays well. You can own land only in the following cases:
Former natural born Philippine citizen
Hereditary succession, non Filipino inherits the land when his Filipino spouse dies. Or non Filipino who have Filipino parents who die and pass on the land.
Non Filipino opens a corporation and can only own 40%. The 60% must be owned by Filipinos.
The conditions to owning are quite stupid. It totally leaves the foreign “owner” in a vulnerable situation.
I’d much rather leave the ownership of land to my children than a wife. The wife can back stab you, throw you out and move in her side boy and the rest of her family. It has happened to countless foreigners already. The Filipina is a patient beast. She’ll force herself to live with you until she sees an opening and strike like a cobra. Just look at a show called Raffy Tulfo. Countless foreigner men have been cleaned out and ejected from their homes.
If I were Marcos I would buy property only under the name of Forrest and Maria 50/50. If he raises them right, it’s unlikely the kids would screw him over. Fatima wouldn’t get screwed over as well if she raises her child correctly. This also gives Maria extra protection from being mistreated by Forrest, Fatima and her family village.
Filipinos are wonderful people. They can also become the most horrendous demons when crap hits the fan and money is involved.

It is more important to invest the 10K in something that will give you a return long term. The worst idea is to buy a house in w filipinas name. She will become the man of the house.

Pros & cons of building a house in the province.
Pros;
-you don't have to pay rent (probably save you 3 or 400 bucks a month.
-since your old lady is from there you can probably get a smoking deal on land.
-good investment for your children later on in life.
-good for keeping your children connected to their roots.
-you can get something with some coconut trees. So you can make some coconut wine
Cons;
-10k turns into 10 million when your wife has to have a castle
-you have to see the inlaws all the time
-everyone in town spins stories about what's going on at the foreigners house
-good education for kids might be a problem
-Wife spends all your money, kicks you out for a younger model & you end up living in a Napa hut, getting drunk all the time on coconut wine cause it's free

My opinion is no house and no camera. Keep the money aside until you need the camera. Wait until your camera breaks down or is stolen or lost or damaged. You can wait on the house until more time passes or more options or choices surface. You have plenty of years left. 👍

The R3 seems to me to be a bit excessive for a vlogger, even a wedding photographer. The main advantage is the high resolution at high speed, for action, sport or maybe wildlife photography. Better results can be had without the ultra fast new sensor Canon is just now debuting. If the R5 did not have the heat issues, it would be equally as good for your purposes. You are right about a village home of course: the risks accrue through the weather and the Philippines propensity to offer tragedy after tragedy. An earthquake can take down any home in the Phils, so your logic would apply everywhere, so I suppose it's really dependent on levels of commitment and future plans. A plot near a developed city might yield capital growth and also be an option for a base to work from for a widowed Fatima :)

I won’t be building or buying anything for quite awhile, I just spend $1,400 on a new desktop computer for editing/processing 4K drone footage and music production. And reserved a $325/night condo at the beach for 3 nights to give my beautiful zamboangenya wife a beach vacation. I’m broke, thru June or July.
