Testing How The NEW Lightning Lane Works At The Magic Kingdom | Disney’s NEW PAID Skip Line Feature

  • The time has come the lightning lane has arrived at Walt Disney world. This is the new paid skip the lines feature, the replacement of the fast pass system. Well this was a big learning process and we found out the difference of staying at a Disney hotel va. Not staying at a Disney hotel. What I mean is the difference between being able to book a lightning lane and a individuals lightning lane. A lot to learn and figure out as the parks keep getting busy! If you have any questions please leave them down below , also remember I'm not perfect if I get some information wrong.

    I hate everything about this. It looks like it just adds a level of frustration and additional costs on an already costly visit. The high capacity rides can handle large crowds rather smoothly without this. I wish Disney just got rid of all of this and just had regular lines like they use to. I have no problem with VIP tours for celebrities or wealthy people that can afford to pay hundreds of dollars and be escorted from ride to ride. But this just looks confusing and costly and will eventually make the regular lines move slow.

    • @smallartist4945
      @smallartist4945 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well with regular fast pass the lines were extremely long because everyone could get a fast pass. So even fastpass would be very long.

    I gotta tell ya, I could figure all this out, but somebody like my mom or dad wouldn’t be able to figure it out in a hundred years, even if somebody explained it every day. It’s needlessly complicated.

    • @christinaehinger3913
      @christinaehinger3913 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Exactly! It's infuriating to me that going to the parks is becoming unfriendly to older guests. I want it to be just as welcoming for grandpa as it is for his grandchild and this just feels like the parks are only geared towards tech savvy generations.

    • @echeng5722
      @echeng5722 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You (or your parents) can still continue to use the standby lines. Genie+ is not mandatory.

    • @Snackdance
      @Snackdance 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@echeng5722 Correct it is not mandatory. But those who do not use the system and do standby only are clearly at a disadvantage to those who do use it. Before, you could do the Genie+ equivalent and book all your Fastpass 30 (or even 60 days) in advance, and have a 3rd party assist to set up everything before arrival. You had a schedule, you got your bracelet, and enjoyed your day. Now in order to get the same benefits, you are required to constantly work with your technology and the fidgety app rules and quirks (that even Kyle has admitted has a learning curve) to get the same benefit you had before. It’s a vacation at Disney. You shouldn’t constantly have to do what is basically the equivalent of scheduling stock trades online to get the full benefits of your stay.

    • @echeng5722
      @echeng5722 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Snackdance what constitute the ‘full benefit’ of a trip? Shall we include the magicbands? The photo passes? The Disney headbands? Be My Guests? Free parking?
      Nobody likes to pay for extra. Everyone loves getting more for free.
      But either they raise their park tickets (even more) which affects everyone, or do this and raises the cost on those who wishes to pay for more.

    • @Snackdance
      @Snackdance 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@echeng5722 I wasn’t talking about paying for extras. I understand the economics of providing premium services at an up charge (however I may disagree). My post is about the needless complication of the process and the app experience, and the requirements to use it even if you decide to take advantage of skip-the-line fastpass services. Before this was not the case.

    Hey! Not sure if anyone has commented on this yet. As someone who uses the disability access I was concerned after hearing in your last video that we would be limited to two attractions per day. I asked about it today while at the Magic Kingdom and they told me that there was no limit on the use of disability access. He told me that he thought what I was referring to is the fact that someone who uses that is now able to prebook two attractions before getting to the park. He said that the app can be a bit tricky right now as they are just rolling it out but you can still go to any attractions lightning lane and physically get your return time put on your magic band. Thanks for the great videos and hope this info helped anyone else who uses the disability access!

    • @coleburton3
      @coleburton3 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a little confusing, but what I'm reading is that if you do a pre-registration for DAS you can prebook two rides per park day (must be atleast 3 days in advance) and that is all you can book, but if you don't preregister you can go to guest services that day and then you can use the DAS pass as normal except now you can do it online with your own phone, which I am pumped about. Much better for parents like me bringing Autistic kids.

    I'm in Disney right now (currently on a break at my hotel) and Genie+ is going to make things very complicated. Here's what I noticed 1. The actual wait times are longer than what's posted. I went on Jungle Cruise and Mine Train and there were announcements stating that ride times will be longer than what is estimated. I'm guessing Disney didn't factor that in. 2. You can't really make advance plans with Genie+ because it's based on what's available. There are also a few glitches but I'm sure they'll fine-tune it since it's the first day. Honestly, I prefer the parks without Genie+

For those that may struggle with lines and waiting that don't have DAS this might help, maybe if you have little kids. Kyle you are wrong about the posted wait times. We were there this morning and the wait time posted for haunted mansion was 25 minutes and we walked on. The posted wait time For Pirates was 25 minutes and it took us 10 minutes. So the wait times are the way they always have been since my daughter worked there in the 90s. They have always made the wait times longer than they actually are so people feel like “oh this is so cool we got on quicker than we thought.”

    Seems like a good option if the park is busy. Your day isn’t busy. The problem is a larger family will pay a lot more. $10 x 4 is a budget buster. Maybe that’s why people aren’t buying.

    Thanks for the tips going for the third tim in November after work is off season. Living in Buffalo makes it hard to get out there so every tidbit of information helps.

    Hey Kyle, sending you a shout out as you have definitely become my favorite Disney vlogger. Your videos are always filled with so much key information. Keep it up! One key question: do you think enchanted at MK is better when you are there live?

    Thanks for the video! I actually saw on another video that you can pick more than 1 at a time but once you book one, you have to wait 2 hours after that to book another. So you could feasibly have multiples in your account.

    I used it in HS and it was great! It was insanely busy there and it helped me a ton!! Only bummer was I tried to wait and get in everything before I took a time for slinky and I missed out as it was done for times for all day by around 10am… 👎🏻

    So, at 7am everyone that’s purchased Genie+ can make their first lighting lane reservation; the exclusivity to on property resort guests is making an individual lightning lane at 7 am, in which guests not staying on property have to wait until park open to purchase/use that option.

    can you and JoJo do a challenge with and without Genie+ to see how many rides you can knock out in a day. Do it on a busy weekend.........this would go viral!!!!!!!

    2 questions regarding Genie. 1. Do you need to be inside the park to make your first lightning pass of the day? Or can passholders be at home.. then go over to park when its time for their first one? and 2. Does the $15 fee cover park hopping? Or do you need to re purchase for each park you visit?

      I'm wondering the same thing. Can you hop to another park and continue to use it there.

    It Is basically the same Maxpass System that Disneyland already had, with the difference that for the $10 it cost it included the Photopass and you could get the all the fastpasses for all the ride without paying extra like Space mountain. Nice video.
