Can only recommend the 17" Gram, discovered it through LTT a year ago, bought it and it didn't disappoint. I agree that 1440p at 17" is the sweet spot. Only flaw is it runs hot (Intel 8th gen version on model 17Z990-V), should be fixed in the 2020 version, and the speakers are weak. Other than that it's perfect! No noticeable battery degradation (charging locked at 80% since day 1), excellent display, enjoyable keyboard feedback, the light weight definitely makes me use it much more often and in more situations than I did previous laptops like a 15" MBP. I want this with Ryzen. LG. Hear me.
Oh man can you imagine that 24 hr battery life it’ll get with ryzen? Like real life 24 hrs, not just expected battery life! It’ll be quite a feat!
Happy Birthday Linus!! I hope you have a wonderful day and a wonderful year? 😊👍🌟🎂
Yo Linus, might wanna tell dell scriptmakers that having "featuring intel processors" is NOT a "wow that's good" thing anymore, if anything, it gets me less interested in the laptop.
At this point Intel probably pay Dell to feature their processors to give the illusion they are still relevant.
@@daniels-mo9ol Intel pays everyone to use their processors

Me who’s looking for a new laptop -“No, no, no, NO”
Try the asus zephyrus g14 amd 4000 cpu and a gtx 1650
Same, I like the look of this but I was hoping there was a ryzen version
People be crying about AMD, but thunderbolt is more important than extra juice for a lot of people. He literally started he changed laptops because of thunderbolt. Of course, he's going Intel
What do you guys use thunderbolt for ? I personally don't see any utility excepted for e gpu but that unpractical when you're on the move. Like seriously, i've never used thunderbolt, DP & usb a are much more important for me.
So the whole "RyzEn doEsn'T sUpPort ThuNderBolT" is a non existent argument for me
@@yuuji_ Yeah well some of us want ONE computer. External GPU at home, unplug that and go out and about with the built-in graphics being good enough for remote use. It actually is pretty important to a lot of people.
If its really a pure typing experience you are looking for in a thin and light laptop, I think you have really overlooked some of the Lenovo offerings, the C740 is such a delight to type on great feedback and placement of keys.
Linus: "...4 version of their 2020 Gram, featuring Intel 10th Gen-"
Me: Welp, I guess that's a no for me.
ikr
I thought that's what Linus was going to say.
Still, the prices are ridiculous to me. Yeah it's light, but gosh, if there's no gpu then costing 1000+ dollars just seems wrong.
@@theinktician not only is light , the battery life is amazing
Who even buys LG phones and laptops? Makes ZERO sense to me.
Who tf wants a Ryzen ultrabook that doesn’t have a thunderbolt port lmao..
i can’t stop staring at this one hair sticking up on his head 😂
As someone who sets up a lot of windows 10 computers, that intro voice is burned into my mind.
LG Grams rocks! I'm waiting for a AMD version so I can upgrade
10:57 Congrats Linus, you are now officially a Doctor.
Huh
LG Gram looks amazing but one feature I'd like, especially from a tablet foldable laptop is, having the power button on the side with inwards bump to reduce accidental pushes. Also fingerprint register on power button isn't my cup of tea
LG: Latest Intel chip

I love my LG Gram 17 2020. I added another 1TB drive and added 32GB of RAM (total 40GB) and have a dynamite laptop that's easy to carry around and has great performance for my needs. Only change I'd wish for is this in a 2n1 form factor.
Microsoft: "Hi there, I'm cortana and I'm here to help...."
Linus: "NO... NO... NO... NO... NO..."
Classic.
Wow, what a fast click!
"Not one, not two, not three..." Damn Heatles flashbacks hit me back hard
if LG used Ryzen 4000 they would have so much more decent GPU power from the APUs and so much better thermals and battery life instead of Intel.🙄😢
the problem is (if its even possible) the thunderbolt 3.
since 10th gen its integrated to the CPU with intel and you can just use that to go to your ports.
I dont even know if ryzen 4000 supports thundertbolt + even if it does it needs an external chip that sucks up extra PCIe lanes + board space + money that could be used otherwise.
I would like to see ryzen mobile to also have intrinsic support for thunderbolt .. but sadly the current gen doesnt have it (iirc)
@@DJRaffa1000 Thanks for sharing
Give it some time. For starters the design of these started before they knew how good ryzen mobile would be. As for tb3, usb 4 isn't that far away anymore
@@DJRaffa1000 Let's wait for USB gen 4
Intel helped with the development, and will be like a thunderbolt 3.
Type C with the thunderbolt 3 features.
@@PatalJunior i'm actually really eager to see what the final USB4 will look like. I heard the transfer speed would be the same but some of the features wouldn't make it ("so that thunderbolt3 still has a reason to exists")

Essential message: the last time linus recommended a laptop, it was only after a sponsered video before.
Take note laptop makers
to be fair, recommending a laptop without sponsorship would be free advertising and make it unnecessary for the company to sponsor LTT for that laptop - hence, it would be bad for business to recommend unsponsored laptops.
Still love the XPS 15 2020. Especially that larger trackpad :)
you've lost me at "featuring intel"
EXCUSE ME! WHERE IS THE PART WHEN LINUS SAYS "Right after this message from our sponsor".
The whole video is a message from their sponsor.
I'm guessing right before, since that's what the whole video is*
That's right after this LG station identification
Props to LG for innovating and reviving the 17" trend 👏

@@Tom-zz2yy The only use I can think of for thunderbolt 3 that USB-C cannot accomodate is hooking up an external graphics solution. And let's be quite honest here. If you're gonna lug that thing around, you might as well just get a damn desktop.
Don't get me wrong. Thunderbolt 3 is nice to have, but if I have to choose between that and AMD's current solutions for laptops, I'll pick AMD with no hesitation.
@@arnox4554 Thunderbolt 3 is pretty nice if you have something like a high speed external SSD you want to move files to and from. Something like very large video files, perhaps. I'd say that's a large part of why it's a necessity for him.
@@JusteFantastico Or multiple displays, ethernet, charging and storage with one bloody connector. Anyone who says that Thunderbolt is useless is useless himself lol.
