I just watched this documentary last night. It was wonderful. I loved watching the friendship between Toma and Matsuya, and how supportive they were of each other. I also loved learning about New Kabuki. Never realized how physical Kabuki is.
I was completely mesmerized. The roppo and mie, I was completely taken away by how much can be packed into such minute details. It's like taking social microgestures and turning them into an art form. I am already searching for kabuki performances in the US, but can't find any. I live near San Francisco, where I figure that there would be some. There is an AMC Kabuki, but it's to show mainstream Hollywood fare. :(
I watched this tonight and immediately thought the he looked like the guy from Hana kimi. Then I looked up the show and realized it was him! Wow time has passed. He's amazing!

I dunno why but i really love the kabuki pose & stand! These combined with the flute & drum & "uohhhhh" voice at the end drive me crazy 😙😙

Just finished watching the documentary, and Toma Ikuta’s show-stopping performance had me hooked, his mie poses and roppo was phenomenal. I didn’t want it to end 😊
