Have a set of these on my Toyota Tundra with about 2,500 miles on them. So far they’ve performed great. Super quiet on the highway, handles well in the rain, and pulls in the mud!
I'm going on 30,000 miles with my Toyo Trails. I overland some of the most remote places in Oregon and have all the confidence in the world with these tires. Highly recommended.
I can tell you I have the Nitto tires you mentioned, they are terrible in ice or snow plus wet conditions. In just wet conditions, they spin out. They wear great and perfect for dry conditions.
I had a brand new set of continental terrain contact ats with the 3 peak rating just put on didn’t even have 500 miles on them, driving through Wyoming in near white out conditions, 21 F150 in deep snow mode and I still lost traction doing 40 mph and hit a guardrail with my family in the truck. I guess it was best case scenario as I was able to clean it up and by the time I hit the rail I was basically parallel and just bounced and kept going.. Point is, not sure how much that rating holds up in my own experience anyways. I was pretty pissed about it as I put those tires on knowing what I was getting into and definitely wasn’t driving like an idiot.
This looks like a fantastic tire. I love all the features and the look, and it definitely seems like it would be very durable. That's one thing I've gathered from the Overland and the rock crawling community, that Toyo tires are very durable. Load range E may be overkill, but I'm definitely going to consider a set of these next time my 4Runner needs tires.
Good information on the tire itself, Campus Automotive always delivers a solid breakdown. I spent some time behind the wheel testing during development with the all new RT Trail and pushed them pretty hard on pavement and dirt, I may have found my go to tire for awhile. Very linear, predictable with a great on center detent and clear directness. Ride and handling is well matched with surprisingly low NVH. Toyo just keeps stepping up there game.
Just installed these in a 285/70R17 on my 3rd gen taco, after two sets of ridge grapplers which I loved. Looking forward to seeing what these do off road!

I am interested in the RT trail also the falcon and the NItto, With your experience what would you recommend for a 2023 bronco raptor I’m trying to get something more aggressive than the stock BFG tires but I’m concerned about weight of rotating mass and the handling of the vehicle, since I do a lot of backcountry travel and I tow a modified teardrop off-road trailer I don’t feel the BFG‘s are good enough what would you recommend? Thanks for the review I’ve watched a few of your reviews they’re very thorough thank you for that!!!👍
Wish they would make these in a 33x12.5R17. I loved my Toyo MTs but I only got 28k miles out of them. Tried a set of kenda klever rts and have already put 30k on them and still have good tread but they are way louder than my Toyo MTs were. Like obnoxiously loud.
Would you be able to review the Nokian Outpost line of tires? They have the AT and APT line of 3-peak rated tires that replaced the Rotiva line. I have the APT and love it so far across all kinds of weather/terrain, but no major media source has covered them yet. I’d love to hear your opinion on both of those tires and how they stack up to the competition. Finnish company with tires made in the USA, in my head it’s the best of both worlds: European design, American construction.
I thought those continuous rubber rings around the sidewall lugs were there to help tie all the lugs together (like a truss) to help reduce squirming on the road?
I’m a overlander, 11 months ago I installed Falken Wildpeaks AT3W 265/60/R18 on my light pickup truck. I’m towing a travel trailer that weighs 6000pounds. I rotate the tyres every 3000miles and now after 16000 miles the tyres are nearly worn out. I’ve travelled mostly on the black top with a bit of dirt road. Is this normal? What are your recommendations for tyres for towing?
Definitely not normal for them to be worn out so easily. I think the best tires for toeing and hig load rating are thr ridge grappler. These should be a close Second but check your weight ratings for the tires. If your towing 6k pounds with a light truck your adding a good Amount of weight to the rear axels. Your gonna wear your tires faster. Check your alignment and suspension components aswell. Proper inflation is needed too. Lots of factors go into it, that could have contributed to the premature wear. Falken at3w were great on my last tundra and I towed with them for 10k miles and they still looked new with regular wear and tear.
I have the klevers and absolutely love them. Much lighter than a mud terrain and perform very well off road. They are also pretty quiet even after being broken in.
Have a tacoma TRD sport, drive roughly 64 miles per day (90%highway), 5 days a week on top of weekend errands (50% highway) However where I live the roads get SLICK when it snows and are typical last to get treated. Recommendations on a more aggressive H/T or high mileage less aggressive A/T?
Toyo Open Country RT Trail starting depth 16/32 no snowflake rating Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T starting depth 19/32 with snowflake rating I’ll go with the MT’s.
If you have to have the 3 peak rating, sure. They're considerably heavier, size for size, but sometimes, that's not super important depending on the driver.
