Every time Kansas looked like they might pull away Newton would hit a three that would keep them close in the first half. Then when it looked like UCONN had taken all the momentum, McCullar made play after play. I had a feeling that this would be a dog fight of a game and it was. Great win for Kansas, but both teams are going to be better after playing this game. Rock Chalk!
Spencer knew he shouldn't of took that last shot. Newton was hot the whole game. It should of been automatically known who is taken that last shot. Spencer thought he was Steph coming off that pick like that lol

@@mattcollett9370It's the Phog, good teams can come in there and get blown out. Baylor and Indiana found that out last season. It could've happened last night too, if Newton hadn't been shooting lights out Kansas could've rolled, the way their defense was playing in the first half.
Best game I've ever been to by a long shot! This has got to be a game of the year contender.

As a UConn fan, it was a tough loss to watch, but it was a great night for college hoops. Respect to Kansas and KJ, who lost a parent. Non-conference games between blue-bloods on campus are fantastic for the sport and need to be more of a fixture in the sport. I loved that Ted Lasso sitting with Sue Bird. This game may go down as one of the greatest early season games ever.
From a Jayhawk, it was a great game. I always enjoyed watching UConn especially during the old Big East days.
2 really good teams to watch out for in march. Similar styles but have different weapons.

@@anthonyjackson5277 Yea the year before last. This game was the first matchup between the last 2 National Champions in like 60 years or something. So not sure what this guy is on about. Think Bill Self has 2 or 3 Nattys since he's been with Kansas. Definitely 2 because I remember the game where Chalmers hit the 3 at the buzzer vs Memphis back when Calipari was their coach. So definitely 2 and possibly 3 under Bill Self's tenure alone.

UConn didn't have any timeouts, so coach couldn't set up any plays. In that situation, the players instincts must take over - meaning the guy with the hot hand (#2) should become very aggressive.@@ethan_becker3
I was shocked to hear that Newton is only a career 32% three point shooter. And coming into this game for this season, he was only hitting 29% from three ! After watching the last 35 years of Kansas basketball, it seems like we always run into a player who usually is an average 3 point shooter (sometimes a bit less), but who suddenly has a stunning 3 point performance against us. And I mean no disrespect to Newton or to UConn. Newton is talented, and UConn is a definite national championship contender once again.
@@ethan_becker3 Because Cam is the clear best 3Pt shooter on the team, and if he hadn't fucked up his ankle in the first half, he definitely hits that shot. He doesn't miss open 3's, especially the wide open one's that kept falling short for him.
If a road coach had a “win or it’s your job” scenario in front of him, the Phog is the last place they’d want to be. For the life of me, I have no idea how the ‘Hawks ever lose at home. I’m an old Husker fan, and Memorial Stadium (even though we suck) is an absolutely electric place to be. That said, I lived in KC for 20 years and fell in love with ‘Hawks bball. I had the joy of attending plenty of games in Lawrence. I can’t explain the emotion in that place when KU is on a run; literally impossible to put into words. If you have the opportunity to catch a game there, do it. A lot of big time schools think their fan base is the best, me included as it relates to Husker football. That said, KU basketball fan base is at least tied, but I say through gritted teeth that they may actually rule. If you attend as a visiting fan just to root against them, I strongly suggest you…

Unhappy with the final result as a Huskies fan. But to play with one of the big boys like Kansas...no shame in the game...JAYHAWKS...WE WILL MEET AGAIN COME FINAL FOUR.

Kansas played lights out tonight and UCONN (outside of Newton) played atrocious, and UCONN still only lost by 4. If I were Kansas I would not want to see this UCONN team in the tournament. A neutral site and fully healthy UCONN team (Looking at you Stehpon Castle) could be real ugly for Kansas.... Very happy for KJ Adams though, Kid played lights out and hit the final 2 free throws to end the game, showed insane heart!
