I wish this video was around in 2005. My late mum did have fear of flying. I did go with her on a trip to France. She wouldn't sit near the window, she wouldn't walk up and down the plane during the flight. Coming back she did sit near the window as I told her the amazing views she is missing. She was lucky to see how beautiful a sunset is from high up. Her fear of walking up and down the plane, she thought below the floor was the actual base of the plane and a big 30,000 foot drop if the floor went through. It took some convincing that wasn't true. Nope she wouldn't even walk to use the loo 😂. I was patient with her and understood her fears. That was the only time I flew with her😢 wish we could of got the chance again.

I'm a finance guy and I travel for work sometimes, but I love aviation. I was on a flight tonight and this girl next to me did not speak english. I looked at the weather radar before we took off and saw the weather ahead. The pilots warned us. She was really scared as we went through it for about 15 minutes, as was everyone around me. I was completely calm due to yours and others videos I have seen. I used a translator to reassure her and and helped her to her connecting flight after landing. It was pretty cool.

I'm sure your reassurance during the flight and subsequent assistance helped her feel more at ease. Good deeds go a long way....

Thank you for making these videos. I am a fearful flyer and I have a 6 hours flight coming. Your voice is so soothing, I could listen to you all day long. You are actually making my fear smaller. Dont stop making these videos. I am pretty sure they help a lot of other people like me. Again, thank you!

From a former airline pilot, and frequent biz traveler.
    My biggest fear of flying?
....Getting stuck next to a person who must have a religious aversion to bathing,
    on a packed trans-con flight :)
When one's an airline employee grateful for the ride, space available, positive space or jump seating,
.... ya just gotta suck it up.

On a serious note - I was in sales to corp travel depts and travel agencies for an airline, prior to becoming a pilot@@johnchristmas7522
      Passenger airlines sell seats.
If one cannot fit in one seat - too bad.
One is required to buy as many seats as needed to accommodate one's size.
The provisions of a ticket sell a seat for passage of a person, like a berth on a ship, an allotted space - not a person's travel , regardless if they fit into the berth.

Hiya Mark!! Think Pax fear of flying is caused by them having to give up control of the environment they are in. Maybe more detail explaining what the gauges are specifically for would help.
Also is that an IFE on that EasyJet when you showed static discharge wires?

I have never feared flying but now the fear is what kind of treatment is the airline going to dish out. Whether it be terrible food, or bad service on board, loads of delays and lost baggage. ALL down to the fact that Airlines where so happy to sack all their staff with the excuse of Covid. Now of course those grieved staff have no intention of coming back, finding jobs with better staff relations and better wages and less forced overtime. So I AM not LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING ON ANY CATTLE PLANE SOON.

I fly couple of times per year, but my fear doesn't go away. I am even more nervous since Boeing incidents. I just don't understand how an aircraft company can take safety so lightly.

I have a question to ask: What is the procedure for a minimum fuel approach if the destination airport is experiencing sudden high crosswinds? I know that if the warning is far enough in advance an alternate destination can be chosen....but what if you are already committed to land when the sudden gust occurs?

Nothing, other passengers + cabin crew will probably try to subdue the hijacker. It's almost impossible to get into the pilot's cabin.

I watch Aircrash Investigation series a lot on TV and even though it's reassuring that some fears of flying are a bit over the top, the sad reality is that quite a number of planes do crash due to the many things that can go wrong during flying.

I never use to worry about flying, just from a statistical standpoint alone. However when Obama decided there were too many white male ATC's and decided to lower standards, near misses have increased significantly. Additionally, now that major airlines are lower standards and going full on DEI to increase minority/female pilots, these are not the best/brighest/experienced like Sully. Instead they are being hired because of their skin color or gender. Heck some are even recruiting pilots with gender dysphoria, which according to their own support groups claim they are emotionally unstable and have a high suicide rate.
So how do you perceive this new threat to airline safety (assuming you are willing to speak to it lest you fear being cancelled)?
