    Americans all over the US cook like this in their backyards usually at least once a month. This isn't a Texas only thing. 9:00 is beef rib. Do not save table is to keep people from the use of a table for people who are not in the restaurant.

  • @0101tuber
    @0101tuber ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The thought of life without meat is like the sun without warmth.

  • @RealzFoSho
    @RealzFoSho ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Regarding "Do Not Save Tables", she guessed right. At this restaurant, you must stand in a line and wait your turn to order and receive your food. After you have your food, you go to the seating area and select a table to sit at and eat. They do not want one of you going straight to save/reserve/claim a table while the other person stands in line to get food for both of you. If someone else already waited in line to get food and are ready to sit down and eat, it is unfair to them if you "cut the line" to get a table that you cannot even properly use yet because you still do not have food.
    The first two meats are from a cow ("beef brisket" first, then "beef short ribs").
    Pigs are naturally clean animals. They will use wet dirt to keep cool and to keep pests away, but they are not unclean unless they are kept in an unclean area where they cannot stay clean. When they are kept in unclean enclosures where they cannot avoid their own excrement, that is when they become dirty. Even if they do get dirty, US regulations are strict for processing pigs and other animals considered to be "red meat". The animal must be cleaned very well before butchering may begin, and strict rules must be followed all the way through to packaging for sale. Butchers are also required to perform inspections at various times during processing to ensure that the meat is clean and safe. Restaurants have their own strict rules that they must follow once they receive the meat for use in cooking.
    I am not sure what you are used to that you imagine turkey or other meat smelling bad, but that is not the case in a restaurant like this. All the meat is strictly inspected to maintain a very high quality. The smells are amazing at restaurants like this. You may be unique in that certain foods smell bad to you, but the average person, no matter where they are from, is going to really enjoy the smell from a restaurant like this one. The food is fresh and there are wonderful spices in a lot of it that add to the great smells. Smells of onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, peppers, and more.

    At a lot of barbecue restaurants in the US, there is a menu option called "Just the sides," where your meal is essentially like four side dishes. From this plate, probably the cole slaw, mac and cheese, and mexican rice would be considered vegetarian (but probably not Vegan). The cornbread would be made with milk, but I assure you, homemade cornbread is DELICIOUS. Peach cobbler is a dessert, similar to a "Crumble," which again, probably not vegan, but definitely vegetarian. Cole Slaw, if you don't know, is typically shredded cabbage with other shredded vegetables and occasionally fruits (i.e. shredded apples....sometimes) mixed with a dressing, mayonnaise (gross), a vinegar, or all of the above. I personally prefer an acidic cole slaw, as opposed to one that is doused in mayonnaise.
    So, there may not be a main course, per se, but most BBQ restaurants would have options for you to eat....and still taste delicious food

    Over the course of my life.... I have lived some years as a vegan and some as a vegetarian and some as an omnivore.
    One thing I've noticed is that people get used to eating their current diet and will eat foods even when they are not really high quality.
    Now.... I tend toward eating what I have at the time which is the most high quality.
    If I can find animal foods which are extraordinarily high quality then I will eat them and when I can find or prepare vegetables which are extraordinarily high quality then I will eat them.
    the other thing I have noticed is that there are two ways of eating.
    You can eat the things which make your body feel the best and most healthy or you can eat the things which bring you the most pleasure in the moment.
    I think one of the universal truths in life is "balance".
    Generally... I try to focus on eating the foods that are available to me which will provide me with the best health.....and then I will add in a little bit of food simply for pleasure.

    There are so many different kinds of BBQ here in America and all regions usually think theirs is the best. I'm partial to the Memphis style which is usually a tomato based sauce with a little sweetness added and sometimes a dry rub of secret spices. Also outside of Texas BBQ is usually pork but can be other things. Some parts of the US use the term BBQ very broadly and basically use it for anything cooked on a grill. Trust me a hamburger on a grill does not count as BBQ. BBQ is usually regionally specific handed down recipes of slow cooking and sometimes smoking meat for many hours. You should check out videos from other states some people swear by the North Carolina vinegar based sauce, others the South Carolina mustard sauce, or the Alabama white sauce.

    I understand people who are vegetarian or vegan for religious reasons or personal reasons due to how animals are treated etc. I get that, believe me. But I also think every person on the planet needs to try Texas BBQ (and Memphis BBQ imo) at least once. Brisket is incredible, and the beef rib (which is basically brisket but, on the bone,) is just, no words can describe it honestly. Pork ribs, incredible (though if you are Muslim, Jewish etc, I understand the no pork thing hinders that one more than the others) and oh boy beef sausage. So good. With the sides, I mean you eat enough for 3 people easily but it's a meal you will literally never forget. Mind you, if you go to Terry Black's (and I've been there a few times over the decades) it is not cheap. But it's also one of the best meals you can have on EARTH, literally the planet. And it's not tha expetnsive if you think about it that way honestly. Also, I'm rambling and kinda high right now due to pain. But yeah, I understand how much you guys love watching these videos from Jolly etc, BBQ is SOOO good.

      Texas bbq is a style that originated in Texas, so yeah, it is the *flavor* that makes it that way. You might be able to do a rendition of Texas BBQ across the world, but without *pecan and post oak* trees you will not be able to get the Texas taste. That might not be impossible in a place like India, but I bet it isn't easy and it costs a lot of money. International shipping charges for raw wood that you intend to burn can't sit well with the pocketbook.

    "Do not save tables"--- sometimes people will arrive before other members of their own party. So they will try to hold/save a table until they arrive. Or people will have a member of their party save a table while other members of their party are in line to get food. In the meantime, other guests have food and nowhere to sit because people are "saving tables" as they wait for others to arrive and it isn't right to make those people wait.
    "Non-vegetarian smells bad"...sorry, you lost me here. Meat may smell bad to you sister but this BBQ and many other meats here smell absolutely divine. If you're vegan or have preconceived notions about smells, quality of meat and the like, why bother reacting to a meat video.
    If you add tatziki then it will no longer taste as it is intended. Tatziki has no place in this bbq. Typically Texas BBQ doesn't have sauce. However some places make it available. Normally it is prepared with a dry rub. If you start adding things, again you completely change the the flavor profile from what was intended. This kind of food you don't mess with.
    They have fine side dishes that are vegetarian here but there really is no point in coming to a place like this if you're vegetarian. Unless of course you truly enjoy a side dish or a dessert they offer. While I completely respect vegans/vegetarians for whatever reason they are such, I don't think y'all appreciate the food/culture that's presented here. (tatziki, smellls bad, add sauce). In addition, y'all talk too much over the video. Pause, share your thoughts, then continue.
