Living in an indecent and miserable country (Chile) just a few months ago, I discovered John Prine and it turned out to be a mysterious and experience today at my 63 years old. I consider myself a Bob Dylan stalwart, but, John caught me and I can't help but see, understand and hear his beautiful, harmonious and soulful music. It is the best thing that has happened to me in a pandemic and also the most inevitable and sad thing to learn that in April 2020 ... this cursed virus will take it away from us forever. But it will accompany me in my present and forever. Greetings and my respects to his family and longtime fans and to TOM for sharing his music.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Viviendo en un indecente y miserable país (chile) apenas unos meses atrás, descubrí a John Prine y resulto una misteriosa y experiencia hoy a mis 63 años. Every song is a reflection of real life .He had an uncanny knack of managing this in a wonderful mixture of words, music, poetry and humour and he had that superb trait of being able to laugh at himself. The overall combination made every song a work of art. He will be sadly missed always, but we have the great consolation of his brilliant music. Gerry Farry.
As a drummer ... and 'musician's best friend' .. ;) .. got to play a bunch of his tunes in the 70s as many of my 'musician' mates brought them to the table which was a REAL treat I can tell you.
John Prine is an American icon. One of the greatest writers and singers of the 70's. Larry Crane on lead blows my mind. Would love to see this guy on his own. I know at one point he was playing with John Mellencamp.
The very first concert I attended on my first visit to DC in 1975 was a Prine concert at the renowned Cellar Door.....and I was hooked on Prine since. RIP beautiful music man!
Aw... the Celler Door, that got my attention. Living in N. VA for many years I have seen many great talents at C.D. It's such a small place with even smaller table's to set maybe 3 drinks on...lol John would have been great there. You were one of the lucky ones...

From FAIR BLOWS THE WIND - Louis L'Amour's Lost Treasures Edition ... Letters From Louis! One of the most interesting things about the Lost Treasures Editions are the personal letters and notes that Beau shares with Louis' fans. In this book, Louis' letters to a fan are particularly revealing ... "I believe the picture on the cover of FAIR BLOWS THE WIND revealed very much the sort of book it was. In any event, please do not believe that all my books are about the west, for a good many are not. The above book tells how the ancestor of several of my characters arrived in the United States. His descendants appear in THE FERGUSON RIFLE, OVER ON THE DRY SIDE, BORDEN CHANTRY and NORTH TO THE RAILS to name, a few. ... I have many stories to tell, and shall tell them, wherever they come from, whatever they are. I do not intend to restrict myself and never have. ... I have lived many lives and ltraveled in many places and when the mood is on me, I wish to write of them. I shall always write of the west for I love it and spend much of my time on its deserts and in its mountains. But we all had pasts, our people came from many lands and had lived before this. What they left behind is a story, too. " ... Louis L'Amour www.louislamour.com/novels/fair_blows_wind_now_including_louis_lamours_lost_treasures_bonus_material_postscript.htm

Yeah miss john bad.
Greetings and my respects to his family and longtime fans and to TOM for sharing his music.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am 68 and living in Germany and I discovered JP during the pandemic. He is my all-time favourite artist now. he has made my life better. thanks for the posting.
@@philipopruesse4259 Entonces te considero mi hermano en la música y su sentido para con nuestro propósito de vida. Saludos desde un Chile hoy con aires de cambio social y político.
Miss you John!❤️✌🏼
I bought a john prine albom the day that i hawked my wedding eing for five bucks and went to the fair! His mußic bolstered my soul@❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Gerry Farry.
he was like no other
Well said...
John Prine is smiling down hearing you sing this. An amazing cover honoring and amazing man
As a drummer ... and 'musician's best friend' .. ;) .. got to play a bunch of his tunes in the 70s as many of my 'musician' mates brought them to the table which was a REAL treat I can tell you.
John Prine is an American icon. One of the greatest writers and singers of the 70's. Larry Crane on lead blows my mind. Would love to see this guy on his own. I know at one point he was playing with John Mellencamp.
Can’t stop playing 🏴👌
Thank you so much
We miss John! The first song I was introduced to was “Dear Abbey” and never forgot him since”.❤
The very first concert I attended on my first visit to DC in 1975 was a Prine concert at the renowned Cellar Door.....and I was hooked on Prine since. RIP beautiful music man!
i was also hooked on him with the first song i heard him sing...
Aw... the Celler Door, that got my attention. Living in N. VA for many years I have seen many great talents at C.D. It's such a small place with even smaller table's to set maybe 3 drinks on...lol John would have been great there. You were one of the lucky ones...
@@mikebaird8648 you mean was a small place ! i grew up in mclean/falls church/ d.c. metro area. cellar door closed before 1980. my dad took me to see the seldom scene there when i was a teenager! had the privilege to see john at merrieweather post pavilion twice in the early 80's solo with iris dement as the opener! never seen one man work a crowd of 2 to 3000 like john. he was a master of his craft. i'll bring a pack of marlboro's and a guitar and meet you upstairs john! R.I.P. i'll get by with your most excellent catalog of songs till it's my time!
@@jamesdarne9759 what a great comment. Yeah I remember that the C.D. closed down but I didn't realize it was as early as 80. All those bar's on M street closed as well. First time I saw the Seldom Scene was very early 70's for free at Tysons corners. I hailed from Chantilly, Va
John's is the song of our lives
This is not long after I saw him in Toronto - I will preserve this recording as close-to-my-own experience... R.I.P. John... enjoy a Vodka and Ginger Ale as soon as you settle in in heaven.
HE'll be there when we get there. Expect everything.
Don't forget that mile long cigarette!😂
This is such a wonderful concert! John talks about becoming a dad and how Jack's baby brother is due in a few days and he has to head home after Houston. His voice sounds great and he's so happy!
I'm SUBSCRIBING!👆👍👌

Reminds me of Bob Dylan - love it, thanks for sharing :)

Ciao john Prine rip
I took my 12 year old son to see him in Houston the very next night. At the end, he said ''I hate to leave but Fiona is about to go into labor, and we'll have to continue all of the rest of the shows after all that get straightened out''. Years ago, I belonged to a Legal Bootleg Sharing Site, and they had this. So of course I asked for 1. Filled up 2 CDrs...
