On the blocked FG, Lanning marked his spot for the kick two yards too close, 5 yds vs 7 yds, and Army spotted it and called a stunt. Also, I don't know where the film of the final Navy FG came from but it wasn't from this game as Lanning did not attempt it or make it.
@@gregpaspatis2084 - Incorrect. That footage of him kicking was from two years prior. I kicked the last FG getting us to 15 points. If you'd like to lose your home, car and life savings on this, say the word. You wouldn't be the first.
I remember looking at the weights of the Tennessee players a couple of years later (was a yearling in 72). Their defensive line weighed more than our entire team. It showed in the score…
Was there as a plebe. "Fall Out" and "Big Bites" through December!
I wish I could travel back in time to this game. I miss the world we grew up in. I hate this world now.
Rick Forzano was the head coach of the '72 Navy team. RIP
He left after that season to take the Lions job and George Welsh came to Annapolis.
My dad played on the team number 34
Slobber Knocker Football! Love it !!!

@@gregpaspatis2084 - I'm going by personal experience.
I bet none of these guys was more than 230 pounds. Some if the lineman were probably not 200 lbs...
