thank you so much... my mopeds been sitting around for months as i wait for someone to help me drill into the lock.... come to find out i could do it myself.... you're a hero
Thank you so much for this video. Some kids have been trying to steal my scooter and they destroyed the key slot for the scooter. After watching this I just pulled the cap towards me. Amazing!
Hey Jared, I did exactly what you suggested and it worked! I ended up breaking the tabs off the aluminum ring closest to the rubber O-ring and it seals up and doesn’t spill out and it comes of like a regular gas cap. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video, I tried several times and got half way, my finger get sore too, then I used a plier to wiggle the gas cap and bingo, came out. Thanks again.
Thanks bought a used scooter a new ignition key, gas cap and seat. Guy had a Certificate of Origin that matches vin. Anyway getting it sorted for resell. Was wondering how to get the gas cap off. Hope this works and thanks for posting. BTW new key set ignition, cap, and seat lock is like $15.00 shipped.
I gonna try this in the morning. I hope it works and if so I’ll let you know on here. Chinese shop tries to charge me $45 for a whole new ignition. I’m like no. It sucks they can’t make individual replacement keys like car keys
This is what I was thinking, but maybe he just kinda had the moment of "eff it" we all get with these things, where we just shove a damned screw in there, or rip the panel off and be done with it, lol. I just got a scoot with this annoying ass thing and I was gonna replicate his method, but just using a couple of locking vices instead of ripping the plastic away and just work that shit off. I already got a new locking cap that I disabled for normal use (who steals moped gas?). It's just sketchy to do that kinda stuff in NYC, cuz there's always someone around but no one cares, so...
Hey man, i tried doing this but it’s not working for me. Lost my old key so i can’t get into it and I’ve been trying to get the cap off to put my replacement on. Any tips?!
@@jaredzanelli7867 Ye, these wafer locks are stupid easy to bust. Another thing that you can do is the ol "Smash and twist". Grab a nice Handyman or equivalent chisel flathead, a good short handle sledge and drive that sucker like you're setting up a good concrete form (couple of nice taps near the head of the hammer- all wrist). This will stop you from dropping shit in the tank, drab a cloth and some locking vices and twist that bitch until you hear or feel each of those flimsy wafers just twist and break.
My scooter didn't have a simple release system so I drilled the whole key hole out. Not just the little hole, but the Whole mechanism. Altought I used some quite big drill bits.
Yeah and i still dont know how to get my gas top off.... aughhhhh. I had to buy new set of keys because i lost my old pair... and im sittimg here about to throw my brand new scooter down a cliff

Yes i agree, if it doesn't work, maybe drill it out but you're working right on top of your gas tank and that sucks.
Good lookin out 💯✔️🤞
Great video...need more
It worked like a charm on my 2014 jonway. But I can't seem to get it back on lol. Thanks for the tip tho.
Grab a pair of pliers, hold the flip top with them and turn. Much easier than taking the damn scooter apart lol

Mine doesn't wiggle like yours and is very tight
Thank you so much

The overpriced scooter shop

Nick Palley not all scooters have this lock set up. If his doesn't work, the only other thing I can think of it drilling it out
Nick Palley or you can try to Jimmy the lock with a lock pick set?

I know im late but i dont think it works for me 😢
Doesn't work on mine unfortunately,
Thanks
You could of just left it all together
I just tried on mine and it works without taking it apart
Oh really, that's a lot easier than this! Thank you
👌😉👍
I've been trying for thirty minute wiggling mine and pulling. It just won't budge
I don't think it works on a yamaha jog......having a pain with this dang gas cap.
Mine still won’t come off.. need some advice
If no dice I would drill it out.
That didn’t work either. I have a key but it won’t turn. Literally just jammed in there. Is there a way I can just break the cap off?
@@DamuX1482 Grab a pair of pliers hold the flip cap and turn. The locks arent that strong, itll pop right out, mine did anyway.

korohone I stopped mid drill because I didn't want shit getting in my tank. I could just quick release it.
