Bhai, unless or until we don't change our mentality things will never change. We have to think that 'old Karachi has been neglected by us. We have thrown rubbish instead of picking it up'. Rubbish you see in old Karachi is throw carelessly by its own residents and not govt. If govt do not do its work we can atleast not throw the rubbish everywhere. We should stop blaming govt.
Everyone is to blame , the residents and govt . Karachi as a whole had been abused and neglected by all types of ppl . We have a beautiful country and a beautiful city but it’s been ruined . Can it ever be put right ? I think it’s too late
After migration from India we lived in Pakistan Chowk, just next to Servis store. This area was neat and clean. Early in the morning the roads were washed and then Choona was thrown on the roads to disinfect. The traffic was thin and we used to play cricket on the road in front of Tailors de Pak. Pakistan Chowk, as such, was a huge round circle which was trimmed in 1959 or 60. When Gen. Ayub Khan imposed Martial Law in October 1958, the Chowk was used by the Army as a mini cantoment. We used to witness the movement of army from Pakistan Chowk. In the 50s, Pakistan Chowk, Frere Road, Burnes Road and areas, then called Bunder Road were hub of commercial, social and cultural activities. Pakistan Chowk was an attractive, neat and clean place. S.M. College, my alma mater was a couple of minutes walk from my home. I appreciate the work done by the Pakistan Chowk Rehabilitation Committee, political leadership, architects, engineers, supervisors and the renovation workers for their efforts in renovating and face lifting of this Chowk. There should be a mechanism to maintain its beauty and a Mohalla Committee be constituted to ensure its upkeep. Syed Waqar Ali, formerly Chief, Planning commission, now in Canada. The triangle, which has been rehabilitated now was built during the same period.
The beghairat Bhutto and Zardari clan have been occupying Sindh for the past 15 years. As long as they remain in-charge there'll only be death and destruction. Lanat on anyone who supports these haramkhors.
This is a wonderful documentary, I'm so glad I found it! I'm a Pakistani American and it gives me hope to see people taking these kinds of sustainable initiatives. The country is full of talented and intelligent people and potential---we just need more leaders like these ones to bring them together.
Yasmin Adhami I see, I actually liked the simplicity of the way it was put together. It felt very raw and unfiltered. But yes I guess a few editing techniques could be refined, up to the creator😊

My gandmother's apartment was near to Pakistan Chowk, we used to come here from Hyderabad, we called her 'Kaachi Ama' ( may Allah bless her with Janna). Karachi used to have Tram service also. I wish that we can redo that as an electric tram. Sharmila F. thanks for doing that specially when u are returning something back to Pakistan, in a solid good way. God Bless you.
Awesome work, really I mean to say you and your Team are the angles send by God now for this neglected city in all time who ever responsible, Avery one knows about it, forget about past, let's join hands together and renovate my born place and lovely city karachi, love you all love you Pakistan. God bless you all.
Congratulations to all who did this superb work including who provided money, the architect, the contractor and the labourers. Superb, superb, superb. There should be someone to watch that this is not destroyed and maintained.
Salam, It's very amazing and unbelievable, I'm very very happy to see all this work, I appreciate and congratulations to Mrs Sharmela Farooqi, Mrs Marvi Mazhar and Maheera Omar. If everyone thinks about his behind all things go better, I Love Karachi, I Love Sindh, I Love Pakistan. Pakistan Zindabad 🇵🇰
Amazing job ma'am. You should do the rest of the Karachi. I wish Imran Khan see your work and gives you more areas of Karachi. Awesome work. Love and respect from U.S.
this is only a public stunt to get fame, pakistan chawk per sirf eik square saaf kiya, waha ki akser awaam below poverty line hai, aur bhoki soti hai, is madam ki kurti jis brand ki hai utni waha ke logo ki mahana tankhwa hoti hai, islam does not allow self marketing of our good deeds
"Self marketing"? 🙄 What if someone sees it and decides to support her or is inspired by her? Unnecessary negativity. Discouraging even the people who are actually doing things! What is wrong with you people..
@@wah650 mind yourself mahera is a great woman does great work and ive seen it first hand when i went to beach for fun i saw her cleaning it she wants to promote it
Excellent work and an amazing initiative. It motivated me so much that I want to drop every thing and be a part of this amazing work. The best thing I like about this is that you are educating people. giving them the ownership of their city and holding them responsible for their actions. We have amazing talent, abundance of skilled labor and youth who are looking for work. These type of initiatives are win win for every one. They don't only improve environment, create jobs, beautify cities but make us better citizens as well. It's people of Pakistan who need to take charge of things and do whatever they can to improve their lives. Allah un logon ki maddad nahin kerta jo apni maddad khud aap nahin kertay. Obviously government provincial or federal will not do anything unless there are some revolutionized changes take place by bringing honest, sincere, capable, and deserving candidates in to power. We cannot establish State of Medina without becoming exemplary Muslim first.
Gov't officials only know how to line their pockets and have forgotten how hard our ancestors fought to make Pakistan a beautiful homeland for all Pakistanis regardless of their faith. Each neighborhood should take charge and recycle to reduce trash. Green areas should be a must in all neighborhoods, and traffic should be reduced. Thanks to everyone to making my city of Karachi's old areas beautiful again. God Bless!

My salute to Sharmila Farooqi, Mahera Omar and all those who made it possible and did a splendid work. WE all must follow this in our respective cities and made our city centers and chowks beautiful like this
Pakistan Chowk is where I grew up. Back then, horse carts used to park around the round-abouts. Good to see our old building, the Faiz Buidling, sill standing. Thank you for doing this, small drops make an ocean, but to change the ocean you really need involvement and participation of the public. Similar to the Green Karachi movement - everyone can plant a tree - or fix up the chowk in their area.
My birth place I miss my home so much. Thank you for uploading this video its pleasant to see the area is being renovated it has been left neglected far too long. Love my Chowk
Really appreciate this effort for revival of old city.. its a team work b/w residents and the local govt... thank you! it's screened at a couple of film festivals. now that it's public it's no longer eligible to enter a festival.
