Hi, glad our videos are helpful!
You are spot on. It happened to when I was there last week. You don't know who you trust. Economy is collapsing and some Turkish people are getting far too much greedy. Personally I am done with that country.
Unfortunately, it's increasing with the inflation but there are still many good people. Hope you get to visit the country again in better conditions.
I'm sad you made this experience in my country but yes Inflation makes it tough for us but it's no excuse to scam people and tourist's for sure.

Hi, as i mentioned, it is not the case at all restaurants in Antalya. Last week, I saw a post on FB complaining about the same in Marmaris. At least, who watched the video can be aware now and avoid the additional 20% on payment.
Yes agree with the food quality it changes drastically and needs consistency if they are going to charge a inflated price

I wouldn’t say hospitality is great, been on 4 holidays in Turkey & gave soo much tips & extras to business owners/children’s on the streets, but not once I was even offered a free bottle of water in the shops or bazaar or by any taxi station after they’ve saw my kindness towards them/hard working Turkish people, I wouldn’t accept a free item but a kind gesture would’ve been appreciated at least once in my 4 visits :)
Lol hospitality is non existent. I dont get it. Why do people say it's so hospitable? Yeah if your pockets are full everyone is friendly 😅
Hi, sorry to hear that! Indeed, such things happen but there are still a lot of nice and hospitable people in Turkey. Many places still offer tea/cofee for free at the end of your meal. But I always say that standards of customer service should meet the expectations of the tourists more. They can absolutely make it much better with minimum effort.
Exactly Turkish are not hospital believe you can get ill and no one well help you with money or goods that you may need that's a lie if you got money they are there to steal it if you broke they are not there 😂
Going to Turkey for the first time, very grateful for all the advice 👍

I love Bodrum Peninsula the most. Absolutely beautiful 😍
Indeed it is!
you should go to turkey for summer vacation only if you cant find a room in Greece. No comparison
Many of my friends who went turkey this year, said they will not go back as customer service is really bad and the cost is too expensive and according to them it’s more expensive than Dubai 🤷♂️
Yes, everything is getting expensive due to the high inflation. Hopefully, they will make changes to fight this price hike.
When converting Turkish price into Euro and US dollars, it's cheaper. However, it's not the price. You don't get the value for price. That's why you feel Turkey is more expensive. Visiting Turkey once is too much for me, personally. There are many more authentic destinations still. Worth the value.
You are right! But for us, Cappadocia is unique and it's the most beautiful in Turkey. Have you visited it?
There absolutely right I’m in Antalya now but living in Dubai for 8 years The quality of food is terrible and you can get better in Dubai cheaper and the fakes are no cheaper either you can get exactly the same stuff for a better price I’d never come back here
You are right about Dubai. There are still some good restaurants with good value and prices here but not all, unfortunately.
Can anyone give some advice:
Visiting Turkey (Sarigerme, Dalaman) next month. Coming from Scotland, and the plan was to buy a little local currency before I go and bring English GBP and try to exchange it there - is this the best way to do it, or am I better off just buying it all before I go/use a travel card?
I figured I would get a better exchange rate whilst over there.
Hi, exchange a small amount in Scotland just to manage your arrival. Then bring GBP and exchange in Turkey, you will get a better rate.

Hello, my sister will be travelling as a solo female traveller and will be staying in old town. Is there anything she should be wary of as a female solo traveller in particular? Does she exchange money in the UK first or did you say a better rate is given if exchanging in old town? Also, does she bring euros or gbp? Thank you!!
Hi, Antalya is a safe city. Although, someone should always be careful when travelling. She can exchange small amount in the UK just for the ease of movement when she reaches Turkey. Yes, she will get better rates in the Old Town and the shops around it. You can bring GBP or Euro, but if you want to exchange GBP to Euro, then there is no need. Just bring GBP and exchange. Hope she enjoys her trip!
Thank you very much!
You are welcome!😊
I got back from Antalya last night, the only thing that, the hotel was amazing, outside the hotel wasn't so great so we didn't explore as much as usual. One thing that I would warn against is that traders, restaurant owners etc will definitely try to rip you off.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Unfortunately, this is the case with some people now but I can assure you that there are still some great people. One should just be more aware not to get scammed.
I'm going to Alanya this week, so you are saying is better to use the Lira currency rather than the euro, Also people some saying that Alanya is known as good Night life, and Antalya is more like a family holiday?
Hi, bring foreign currency Euro, USD or GBP and exchange to Turkish Lira in Turkey. Both are suitable for families and for nightlife. If you want, check our video about Antalya nightlife.
great🎉

If you are coming to the center of Antalya 50 to 80 USD will be enough, then you can exchange in the market.
Hi, thanks so much for your helpful videos and answering people’s questions. What is the weather like in the beginning of April? I’m worried the pools will the cold. Are the days long or short in April? Thank you
Hi, glad you find them helpful!😊 The beginning of April is not suitable for swimming. If it is a sunny day, then you might opt for a quick swim, but the water will be cold. Days will be long, around 12+ hours of daylight. Enjoy your trip!

I wanted to move to Antalya this year with my kid but after all this information i changed my mind , i prefer Dubai bcs the vost of rent is same😂 but at least very high quality in everything and very safe))
Wish I could move to Dubai with my son 😂
Hi, there is a big difference in the rent between Dubai and Antalya. For the same apartment size in Antalya for USD700 or 800, you will get it for around USD 2,000 to USD 2,500 in a good neighbourhood but not the best in Dubai. I agree the quality of life there is different, but Antalya also is considered a safe city.
Great insight. Question, are you saying the you should always pay in Turkish lira?
Glad you like it! Yes,it is better when getting the prices in Turkish Lira. When prices are in foreign currency and you have it so stick to it, as the exchange rate will not be in your favor.
Any thing good about travelling to Turkey yhese days??? Always pay in the local currency. Withdraw cash in the local currency at ATM, too. Don't expect European or American level of hospitality service. In fact, some hotels and restaurants are rude. It's safer to assume you eat Turkish food 90% of the time. Hardly any varieties of inyernatiinal cuisine. Ending up with shopping snacks in supermarkets is common.
You are right! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I think hyperinflation must be the reason for the higher prices when you buy large quantities. Detergent for example: You could buy 5L today for 500lira. But if you buy 1L today for 100lira, 1L next week for 110lira, 1L next week for 120lira, 1L next week for 130, 1L next week for 140- that's 600lira for 5L. So the brands lose money by selling larger quantities.
Thanks for your input. But, while selling bigger quantities you are using less plastic per liter, so cost is less and time consumed by manufacture to fill 5 liters in bulk is much less than 1 liter. It is before the hyperinflation in Turkey, many times you find bigger items same price as buying 2 small items or more expensive.
Thank you for all your advice. But what you said about restaurants, like bad exchange rates and plastic in the food that's all normal in England 😂
You are welcome! It seems all the world is losing good service. 😉
Is paying in dolars always 20% more than in liras? I mean, not only in restaurants but also when we shop for clothes, jewels or cosmetics?
If so, where is the best to change dolars into liras in Turkey if you have only cash with you?
Hi, no, it is not the case always. The example we showed was in a restaurant where anyone could opt to pay in Turkish Lira instead. You will find many shops pricing in dollars or euros in the touristic area. In this case, you do the calculation for how much is their exchange rate if it is worth to pay in TL or no. You can exchange at many places, in malls, bazaars, or stand-alone exchange shops and check the best rate from one shop to another.

Hi I am going to Antalya next month from the UK. I was hoping to just use my credit card at restaurants for excursions etc. Will this be okay or shall I convert some Turkish Lira in the uk before I come?
You can use your credit card. If you need cash, exchange in Türkiye you get much better rates than the UK.
Yes, there are lots of negative or unpleasant reviews with bad experiences faced by tourists... not a good thing about turkey....if they don't improve their practices, they will lose tourists which contribute a lot to their economy.
Turkey got expensive. I don't know about the services. But the increase in prices. Hope it will change.
Yes, it is getting more and more expensive, but the government now is trying to fight the inflation.
What happened to us today? I had Flate Tire and I called Mobile Tire shop. The first thing they did, they removed the tyre and told me the 🛞 tire is expired and to be scrapped. I was quite surprised for a minute because the car I rented from rent a car was almost zero meter. I asked them how much it’s going to cost me to replace the tire … so they picked up a used Tire and said 4500 Turkish Lira which is almost 158 euros. Quite shocking for me haha!
I insisted on repairing the existing one. They had to simply pluck the nails nail and do the patching …The tire boy said no it is not possible as it’s almost to go to scrap!
I CALLED POLICE 😂… the moment they came to know I’m calling police their tone changed. Everything changed and they agreed to repair the Tyre with 2000 Turkish lira ( still extremely high as normally it shouldn’t go beyond 200-400 Turkish lira at any shop. I paid them because it is a mobile shop and I didn’t want to waste our time….
Sorry to hear that! One of the worst scams! But well done from your side!
Why did you contact a mobile tyre shop instead of your car rental company, surely it’s their job to fix it for you or if not for them to authorise you to get the tyre repaired replaced?
I’ve rented cars in Turkey many times over the past 18 years and if I ever have any issues I call the rental company and they always resolve it.
Im going antyala for the first time in September should i bring euros or lira

The prices are insane. Im from san diego one of the most touristic destinations in the u.s. and was shocked how expensive turkey is. A ten dollar burger in california better be a steak burger but in antalya you'll get the most disgusting excuse of a burger for like 15 dollars. Doesn't make sense. Greece is far cheaper and the quality of food is way way better
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Indeed, prices are expensive in Turkey now.
Burgers may be the national dish in Southern California but not in Turkey.
Would it be reasonable for someone from Turkey to compare the quality of a Meze from a Turkish restaurant in San Diego to one in Antalya?
@sultanoftippoo3857 American food shts all over turkish food especially in San Diego because of how diverse it is. In the 3 months I was there I didn't have any food that was actually tasty. On top of the food not being tasty it was expensive. Turkey is way way over-rated. Let alone the rude treatment you get if you're brown but if you're white your basically God. Lira or euros please
Hi, take Euro and exchange in Antalya when needed. If prices are in Euro, then make payment in Euro.
Althou the country is lira ?? What will they do refused my money, ? 🙈
No, they will not refuse, it is only about the exchange rate they charge you. Sometimes, it is fair, but some try to take advantage. They accept USD, Euro, TL and GBP.
Okay as lira is their money so this is what i will be taking as i get more for my money via pounds ...if u take euros they earn more when they are changing it to lira thats why they want other currencys instead of their own ..we dont gain but they do !!

I don't understand it is so busy why do there have to be this way it's very sad..
Unfortunately, it is a bad experience. This is damaging the good reputation of tourism in Turkey. Hope your family will enjoy their time!
Thank you for excellent notes about the increase in prices in Turkey. I have also noticed that the Turkish people have changed since 2022. When they see a foreigner they immediately think that they can rip him off. The house services such as garden maintenance, pool cleaning etc. used to be fairly priced now they want to charge more than what a person pays in the UK. I understand that inflation is high but Turks need to understand that we can spend our vacation in many European countries that cost us a lot less than in Turkey. I believe the Turks will lose the tourism if this continues.
Glad you found it useful. Unfortunately, you are right. Some prices are super expensive even exceeding European prices.
Why would you pay in foreign currency in Turkey?
In Turkey, foreign currencies are widely accepted.
@@tiptopturkey yes, at very bad rates
Such a pity that your excellent video has so many people using it as an excuse to hate on Turkey and the Turkish people.
I’m British (with no connection/family with anyone in Turkey) and can say in the 18 years I’ve been travelling to Kalkan without exception the Turkish people never fail to impress me with their hospitality, honesty and warmth.
Some of the comments on here about the quality of restaurant food and service are just ridiculous (I’ve yet to find a restaurant in Kalkan that is even average much less poor in terms of food quality or service).
To anyone who is thinking of travelling to Turkey, please ignore the religious and racially biased comments on here and speak to someone you know who has actually been to this wonderful country and listen to their experiences.
What I would say however is Restaurant prices have increased massively over the past 2 years but this is a country with +70% annual inflation so don’t expect it to be the bargain destination it once was.
Thank you for your input! Glad to hear that you have been enjoying Kalkan for so long.
@@tiptopturkey Merhaba my friend and thank you for your response.

@geogeo1261 Those are not pro Turkey. In this video, highlighting the bad experiences and facts that should not happen in a beautiful country like Türkiye. They should work on those steps to maintain high standards. In all our videos, we encourage people to visit and enjoy Türkiye. turkey is becoming much more expensive than Europe for a lot of stuff. I'm going to antalya again tomorrow and I'm sure everything is more expensive since my last trip 5 months ago
Yes, you will be surprised.😊
If this is happening than Turkish government should clamp down hard with huge fines.
As it will ruin the countries reputation as a tourist destination.
Indeed
Turks don't like lira because low in value foreign currency can be sold on exchanges at a later date
I found the waiters quite rude as well as greedy ,I got the bill in a cup and paid with Turkish lira with 4 x TL 200 note on a bill for a bill of TL 630 and waited for the change ,in the end I inquired where the change was and the waiter replied there was no change after tips ,I was incensed and asked for my change .The waiter did not deserve a tip because he was rude and unfriendly as well as greedy so I did not leave a tip .I would normally give a 15 % tip .But not to this waiter and would avoid this restaurant like the plague. Good customer service is half the pleasure and some restaurants look at tourists as blind cash machines .😢
Absolutely true. You did the right thing.
