GUMOTEX SCOUT: our Experiences & Information - TEST REPORT, Conversions & Accessories - Eng. Sub

In this test report we introduce you to the Gumotex Scout inflatable canoe. You will find out everything about the technical data, our experiences with the inflatable canoe, what modifications we have made and what accessories we use to operate the boat as a 2-person touring canoe.
We were able to test the Gumotex Scout Standard airboat extensively on several tours on both lakes and rivers, so our experience report is very well-founded. The same applies to the accessories and here we can certainly give you one or two insider tips.
Here we will show you, for example, what options you have for mounting rod holders on the boat in order to best fish from the boat, which panniers are best for the Scout and how you can avoid damage to the boat.

Guter Testbericht und noch mit vielen extra Details, sehr schön! Ich habe gerade von Arts Outdoors ein Scout bekommen zum testen, werde es wahrscheinlich nur alleine fahren auf Flüssen. Du erzählst, dass alleine fahren fast nicht machbar ist. Das wird dann ein schöne Herausforderung für mich, da ich wahrscheinlich in kürze keinen mit ins Kanu kriege 😂 Ich bin früher viel auf Flüssen gefahren in einem noch grösseren Kanu, das war tatsächlich nicht ideal, aber ging. Manchmal habe ich dann gewechselt auf Doppelpaddel. LG Olaf

Hallo Olaf, vielen lieben Dank 😊 Freut uns sehr, dass es dir gefällt!
Auf einem Fluss wird es sicherlich anders sein. Der Fluss sorgt für den Vortrieb und du kannst dich mehr auf's Lenken konzentrieren. Außerdem beziehe ich mich auf die Fahrt allein ohne Gepäck. Ich würde an deiner Stelle dann möglichst viel Gepäck nach vorne packen. Dann ist es sofort viel besser und so geht es dann auch problemlos auf ruhigen Gewässern.
Nur wenn du alleine bist und kein Gewicht im Bug hast, dann geht der Bug hoch und du drehst dich mit jedem Paddelschlag mehr, als dass du voran kommst.

Only with restrictions. The boat can be driven in salt water. But it is an inflatable boat, which means it is more susceptible to wind. I would only drive it near the coast and only when there is no risk of storms or big waves.
