  • About the Session…
Due to the rave reviews received following the delivery of this session at last year’s Digital Workplace Conference in Melbourne, we decided to offer it as a free webinar for those who couldn’t make it on the day, or even those who fancy seeing it again!
This 1-hour session provides insights, hints, tips and best practices to take your SharePoint document management practices to the next level:
    * Learn how to maximise efficiency and findability of your business-critical documents
    * Discover the vital role of Content Types in defining the information architecture of your SharePoint environment
    * Utilise Managed Metadata to help you and your users categorise - and therefore more easily find - documents and other information stored within your SharePoint sites
    * Leverage Document Sets to further group and categorise your documents
Surface the full power of SharePoint through Microsoft Teams
    About the Presenter…

It's a good approach, but employees have been using the legacy folder structure since the early days of Windows File Explorer and mac finder. They are deeply ingrained in the hierarchical system of folders and sub, sub, sub folders, they will never adapt to a new method like this.

      That’s a very defeatist approach… 😉
Users are far more likely to adopt a new method of working if they see the benefits to the organisation, or the benefit to themselves as individuals.
Those taxi/delivery drivers in the early 1900s who refused to learn to drive automobiles and stuck to their horses and carts are likely to have lost business to those who adopted modern, more efficient, work practices…
And as harsh as it may sound, employees are paid to do a job. That job may change a little, but it’s still the job they’re being paid to do. If they refuse to change with the times, I’m sure there’s plenty of people waiting in the wings to replace them 🤷🏼‍♂️

Another point worth adding, is that staff are far more likely to adopt new ways of working if they’ve received appropriate training and are therefore comfortable with the tools which would massively improve efficiency…

Can people still drop documents in one Drive without specifying metadata?

If you’re using Document Sets, these will display as folders through File Explorer if you’ve synced using OneDrive for Business. Creating/adding a document to one of these Document Sets through File Explorer provides the same end result as if you were to drag and drop/upload via the browser: the file will be based on the default document content type, and inherit any shared column values from the Document Set.
