    Thank you for sharing all the valuable tips! I have a few questions -
    What kind of travel card would you recommend for Japan? Many people suggest taking USD and converting it there. Will that be a better option? Also, do we need two suica cards for two people or it can be shared? Thanks in advance!

    • @rollingfeettales

      Travel cards like Niyo, Scapia are good with zero markup on foreign transactions in Japan!
      For currency, we usually withdraw from ATMs there with above mentioned cards (usually they charge flat fee of around ₹250/withdrawal). This is much cheaper than first converting INR to USD and then to YEN. However do carry some USD incase ATM option doesn't work.
      For Suica card, one Suica card is for one person.
      Hope this helps!

    Good information in your Japan series - 1 question about bringing food - we are veg, can we bring in packed theplas? I presume you know whaf thepla is. We have travelled with theplas to Europe also, so whats yhe situation with Jaoan any idea?

    • @rollingfeettales

      They didn't let us carry sandwiches that we got in flight to Japan! So I would think Theplas would also fall under that category. We have also carried ready to eat meals to Europe but for Japan we didn't carry any!

      @@rollingfeettales So even the ready to eat packets won't be allowed you think? Those are the proper sealed ones

    Does the welcome suica has any expiry date ? maybe it could be used again after 5-7 years ? Also does it work for other metro/railways as well ? (other than JR ones)
    Any extra charges upon withdrawing money from 7/11 atm's ?
    Which sim brand would you recommend in terms of better connectivity and cost efficient ?
    Can the welcome suica be topped off directly with our indian cards ? and debit or credit ?

    • @rollingfeettales

      Welcome Suica card is valid for 28days post purchase. After 28 days it wouldn't work. Advantage here is that there is no deposit on this card!
      Suica card can be used at all transportation mode along with convenient store & vending machines! It can be topped up using any card with international transactions enabled! However using a travel card (niyo or Scapia) will be much beneficial as there is 0% forex charge!
      For us only charge was 2.5% of withdrawal amount from 7/11 ATMs (or any other ATM) on our travel cards.

    Can we exchange INR to JPY in the tokyo city itself or they only accept USD(no option for INR) ?

    • @rollingfeettales

      We didn't see any option of INR to JPY conversion in Japan. Even if they would the conversion rate would be very poor. You would be better of converting INR to USD to JPY or just withdraw JPY from ATMs (use travel cards like Niyo/Scapia for zero forex markup) in Japan!

      Yes, you're right! Now one needs just one QR code for both immigration & customs!
      Thanks for letting us know!

    how much your bank balance & ITR, & what about travel history at the time off visa??

    • @rollingfeettales

      Bank balance of around 3-5 L/month along with ITR would suffice!
      We have a bit if travel history but I don't think it matters much. Documents & Itinerary with cover letter is what matters the most!

    My flight will be landing in Haneda by 10pm only, can we stay overnight in Airport until our next train ? Online immigration can we do earlier like one or two days before or should be done before landing there ?

    • @rollingfeettales

      You would get trains from Haneda airport to Tokyo city till midnight. Else, you can wait at airport for the night and take the first train out at 5am!
      You should fill the information in advance at Japan web & generate QR code. This would help you with speedy immigration at Haneda Airport!
      Have a happy Japan trip!

    Hello, japan seems to have a ton of sims. Any sim you tecommend for 2 weeks travel?

    • @rollingfeettales

      We bought b-mobile sim card from Bic Camera shop in Haneda Airport arrival hall in Japan!
      You can basically purchase any of the sim cards basis price & requirements as all the companies usually will have good coverage (5g) across Japan!

    How about international roaming recharge since we would like to recieve get calls and text messages from india

    • @rollingfeettales

      We keep our India number active but use local sim's (Japan's Sim card) data (hotspot) connection to make whatsapp calls & chats! It's much more cheaper that way!

    Which travel card did you try to withdraw Yen using? Was it Niyo?

    • @rollingfeettales

      Yes we used Niyo and worked just fine!
      Though earlier it was free but now they charge 2.5% or ₹250 per withdrawal but still better than converting INR to USD and to Yen.
