- DAY 6 OF VLOGMAS! I'm joined by Charlotte as we head to the arena at Blackpool Pleasure Beach for an ice skating session. This was my first time going back on the ice in 10 years and I was pretty terrified!

Loved this. Both of you did so well. I've only ever been skating once, about 35 years ago (!) and I never made it on to the ice! I fell over on the rubber mats! 😅

I felt your pain, I bought some inline skates over the summer as I'm a man child, and spent an unreasonable amount of time crawling around the park. I'm too embarrassed to go back to the park now.

Well done to you and Charlotte. I have never been ice skating before but would love to do it one day especially in Blackpool. I remember watching my siblings ice skate at BPB Arena when I was 4 so watching this vlog has bought back some memories for me so thank you :)

Great vlog! And good for you getting out on the ice :) I used to skate quite a lot as a kid / Teen (mostly playing hockey with friends), but its been quite a lot more than 10 years since last time and nope, i dont feel like trying again either :D

It's hard to skate in "blue wellies" as we call them. There's no support, and the blades are blunt, so they definitely don't help! Lol.

Well you did fine Shawn & Charolette💗 I grew up in a cold part of the u.s. Colorado. So the ice rink was a every Saturday occurrence!💗 I absolutely love the Ice shows like the ice capades and Disney on Ice💗

Well done guys! 10/10 for effort! I too love watching people skate but I couldn’t do it myself! I’ll stick to ballroom dancing, it’s much safer. Thank you for sharing this with us. I live in Manchester but am still shielding so will have to enjoy the market through you! Enjoy!

Well done Shawn I’m so impressed that you were so brave literally just getting out there on the ice rink independently skating on your own holding your GoPro camera at the same time heading towards Charlotte by helping her, aww 🥰 your such a real honest dedicated caring boyfriend, your first time skating was really good, better than me despite having no fear of heights, I’m scared of slippery terrain however mostly more scared of escalators forever holding on the moving bannisters 😱 for deer life lol 😆 muses me maybe it’s my back injury putting the fear factor into me.

You did so well Shawn, I have exactly the same thoughts on ice skating as you but you did better than I would’ve done I would’ve fallen as soon as I let go from the wall. Get me on a rollercoaster instead.

I go ice skating once in awhile and never had fall. I must remember how to ice skate every time I go back, even if it is years. I can't do fast ice skating or figure skating and my dad used to play ice hockey so ice skating runs in my family.

I went to Blackpool Ice skating last week I loved it and for my first time I did quite well I loved it deffo going again
I think you are both brave to not only do it but film it as well. Also, I think you did well, especially knowing how long it's been since you had given it a go. If I did it, I'd probably hurt myself. :-)

Come to hull ice arena on a Friday because it is a disco for people it is really cool

I have never been ice skating before, but I am thinking of giving it a try for the first time this year. Got any tips for a beginner?
Make sure the skates a really tightly strapped, and not too large. Put on a helmet! Losen up those knees. When you start to fall, don't fight it and try to not land on your hands/wrists. When you fall over, try toi get back up not using you hands, you lose grip and balance really easy if you try to get up like Charlotte did. And of course, have fun!

Feet shoulder width apart maximum, bend the knees loosely (like you’re squatting) wear gloves and make sure the skates are on tight!! Multiple pairs of socks help keep your feet warm too!! Baby steps to start with!! Max I go away from the side is arms length (I find the edge really sloppy)

I do ice skating just stop holding the side just stay by it and then if you fall you fall but if you think you will fall you just hold the barrier

If you want to build your confidence ice skating try skating on a plastic ice rink. It’s a lot easier.
