Where does one begin with a car like this. The colors on the car - the two tone exterior and the red wheel wells being replicated on the inside with the red accent on aqua base vinyls. This was from an era of design that simply cannot be replicated now. You were so right to point out the details (or as I call the hidden jewels of design). That engine was not only great sounding but looking at its layout you could see real engineering talent and machining and casting of metal parts. Today we get plastic everything. Arrrrrrrgh. You've outdone yourself with this one, Lou. One thing will always be constant with you - you will outdo yourself with another; the greatness of your channel!
Wow! That stunning Buick is an object of perfection! I was floored in what GM achieved in non-gaudy statements with this super car! What a detailed video, too! Thanks Lou!
Beautiful car! Road exhaust! Wire wheels w/knock-offs! Swivel drivers seat ! Auto headrests! 4 side draft Carter carbs! X Model! Too cool! Excellent, Lou!
I'm trying to come up with the proper words to describe this Century, but I'm speechless. 'Stunning' doesn't even scratch the surface. It's so far above any other prototype of the era because it looks like something the factory could have (SHOULD HAVE!) offered instead of being the typical over-the-top styling exercise. Just like the Gaylord you featured awhile back, this car has me drooling. Wow, you've outdone yourself with this one Lou.
A wonderful choice for My Car Story, Lou! What makes this car special is that the customization is not flamboyant. The details are there, for those who can appreciate them.
I had the wonderful opportunity for my '56 Olds Starfire (which Lou did a segment on about 5-6 years ago) to be parked next to Steve's '56 Buick at the 2024 Arizona Concours d'Elegance car show. This unique Buick has to be seen to be believed. When I met Steve in the event parking garage the night before the show and he showed me all the one-off elements of this car, I told my wife that everyone else in our class was competing for second place because I was 100% certain the Buick would win the class (which it did). My favorite parts are the unique intake manifold with 4 side draft carbs, and the rocker panel exhaust, but it is all spectacular. On top of that, Steve was a real gentleman who loves to talk cars. I was happy for my Starfire to win a class award at the show and I didn't feel bad at all about losing to such an incredible Buick. Lou, it was great seeing you at the show and thanks for sharing this unicorn of a car with everyone!
Thank you, LOU for another fabulous example of 1950S futuristic styles. One of Buicks finest. Thank you for showing us the treats in the trunk in all your videos. Extra special. 😊

The color combinations are brilliant, love the different shades and shiny metallic blue seats! So futuristic and rich in design elements! I was thinking it had some "Corvette overlaps" when it rolled up, glad to hear it was done by design.
Not enough superlatives to describe this fine automobile! Absolutely incredible, it goes to show that there's still amazing cars out there that I didn't know existed.
Another great car. I gotta say, "who does Steve remind you of" ? He has so many cars that there isn't enough time to drive them all. Referring to his cars he says "The bigger the better"! One off Buick Convertible, all the things I love to hear together except one, mine. I was lucky enough to work on a 1of 1 1964 Impala SS convertible, it was built for a GM VP's son. A lot of the one off electrical opts weren't working, I had to figure it out. The last thing was 1 off power vent windows and the 6 button switch. Cadillac motors in the windows and I had to repair the switch. Your videos just keep getting better and better, thanks Lou.💚✌️
Hi Pat, Happy to read you had an opportunity to work on that 1 of 1 1964 Impala :-) Glad to be able to share this fun car with you. You're welcome, Lou
What an absolutely amazing car! I think Buick made a huge mistake in not putting this car into production exactly "as is" and marketing it as a very limited production "above top of the line" ultra premium priced car. Besides actually selling a fair number of them, it would've sparked Buick sales across the entire Buick model line by generating a huge amount of showroom traffic! I wonder if Cadillac had anything to do do with this not happening as Cadillac didn't have anything to compete with this and the top brass at GM was afraid the hugely profitable Cadillac Division would lose showroom traffic and thus sales to this and other lesser Buick models?
Amazing vehicle. This 1956 edition was meant to be exceptional in ways that exemplify the exuberance and swagger of Post WWII America. This specific custom order is of museum quality because of its impeccable condition and additionally because of the sophistication found in the classic convertible body lines, the two tone color distribution… a true testament of luxury, taste and technology which typified US confidence in its future. I was born in '49. My dad bought a new '53 Ford Crestline V8. By '56 I was paying attention to cars. By '59 I had a crush on a girl. Her mother drove a'56 Roadmaster Conv. Had pwr windows and seats etc. They had purchased it new. We still had the old Ford. That Buick was a very attractive car.
Yes especially some fun my girlfriend and I had in that car. I do own a nice Buick of newer vintage. It is a '89 Park Avenue. Has leather and only 17,000 miles. Bought it in an estate sale. My wife has a 2022 Accord. She says that the Buick has so much more class.

Only once did you get sidetracked with a numbered plate while he was showing the interior. I really commend you for the question you had before you moved on to the engine. "Is there anything else you want to share about the interior?" Again great job Lou! Keep it up.
Really nice. I cant help wonder how the '57-'58 Buicks were style-challenged (IMO) after seeing this '56 experimental beauty, which I was totally unaware of
Oh wow, this is one way-cool car!! I don't know how you keep finding guys with these really cool cars but this one, for me, is at the top of the list. This is a definite two-thumbs up video!! 👍👍
Just wow. Excellent. Interesting that it has vacuum w/s wipers. It's hard to believe this is the same styling group that gave us the 1958 Buick. Talk about a contrast! I always felt the '57 was the prettiest of any of the Buicks of that decade.
@@loucostabile I went to his website and looked at his car collection. He has a lot of Cadillacs, Buicks, and Pontiacs. I would like to see more from his collection. Thanks again, Lou. You never disappoint.

Lou what do you say about this Car I'm shaking my head I've never seen one Fantastic and from my home province, I grew up in London, Huge bigger then huge Thank you.
I was damn near born in a 53 Buick Roadmaster😂! But there was a hospital less than a mile away 😅. Dad was a champion of work for what you want. Mom let him know how it was gonna be. Dad fell in line, and that straight 8 Buick must have set a speed record in the standing mile😇! My big sister told me 😊.
Hi Lou, I hope all is well with you and your family . I've been very busy working on classic cars lately; so I haven't had the opportunity to communicate with you. I've known Steve Plunkett for a number of years now, and may I add that he is a true gentleman. Try to make an effort to view his car collection at his home. I respect his privacy so therefore I will not reveal his location. Take care and remember when you're healthy you're wealthy. Brian the limo driver
I remember when I was a boy those black boys loved a 56 Buick. Nothing at all wrong with that. They were nice cars. I remember later in years flip Wilson told a joke about it.
Well actually, those carburetors were used only on the Corvette's six cylinder engines, ending in 1954. It's too bad that that extra trim, eyebrows, two-toned paint scheme, tachometer and lettering were never carried over to production models. This prototype was lucky to escape GM's crusher
Beautiful car! The speedometer is not actually a "ribbon" speedometer. It is a long drum. The red is painted on the drum in a spiral. The faster you go the more red there is exposed.
I think Oldsmobile had something similar called the "Fire Bomb". Saw it in a car magazine about twenty years ago and they wanted $5000 if I remember correctly.

Oh wow, this is one way-cool car!! I don't know how you keep finding guys with these really cool cars but this one, for me, is at the top of the list. This is a definite two-thumbs up video!! 👍👍
Hi Ken, Happy to read "this one, for me, is at the top of the list" :-) High praise. Lou
What a beautiful ride. Love Buicks, I have one now.
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Glad to read you have a Buick now.
Just wow. Excellent. Interesting that it has vacuum w/s wipers. It's hard to believe this is the same styling group that gave us the 1958 Buick. Talk about a contrast! I always felt the '57 was the prettiest of any of the Buicks of that decade.
Happy to read "Just wow" :-)
Very nice 😊
Hi Michael, Happy to read "very nice' :-) Lou
Ditto to the other comments plus beautiful, over the top, thank you so much!
Hi treesnmoguls, High praise. You're welcome. Lou

A lot of stuff on this car is so modern. So awesome. Love it.
Happy to read "Love it" :-)
Bill Mitchell's baby. This car is probably what a 1956 Buick Skylark convertible would have looked like, if they had built one.
Hi Donald, Happy to share Bill's Baby with you :-) Lou

Our Mercedes Benz has electric headrests but it was resent! I’d forgotten how slow those tops were! I’m very sick or I would have been here sooner Lou, you know I like to be first or early. lol

Jaw dropping Buick the engineers & designers must of had a open check book from GM
High praise.
What would be a blast is to park this car next to a stock 56 Buick century and find all the custom items.
....that would be fun :-)
Dat dere is a true work of art.
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
I was damn near born in a 53 Buick Roadmaster😂! But there was a hospital less than a mile away 😅. Dad was a champion of work for what you want. Mom let him know how it was gonna be. Dad fell in line, and that straight 8 Buick must have set a speed record in the standing mile😇! My big sister told me 😊.
Hi Terry, Nice driving Dad :-) Thanks for sharing your story, Lou
@@loucostabile thank you! A memory resurfaced when I saw the 4 holer Buick!
@loucostabile And did you know that a 4 hole fender meant it was an 8 cylinder? Back then, it was a flathead inline 8!😇 The real hotrod was a Century
QUE AUTO Lou este coche es quizá uno de los más bonitos y conservado que has traido, Saluda de mi parte y felicita a su dueño😅
Hi Juan, High praise. Happy to share this car with you :-) Lou

Happy to share this "total gem" with you. You're welcome Gary.
The 1956 Buick was the best styled Buick of all time.
High praise.
I personally think the 59 was the best. But this is great too.

Hi Brian, Happy to read you're working on some fun cars :-) Glad to know you know Steve. I agree, on healthy is wealthy. You stay healthy too, Lou

High praise Bob :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you!
Coolest car ever in MCS!!
High praise.
I remember when I was a boy those black boys loved a 56 Buick. Nothing at all wrong with that. They were nice cars. I remember later in years flip Wilson told a joke about it.
Hi Jerry, Happy to read this car brings back memories :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
@@loucostabile you're so welcome. Very nice car. Brings back childhood memories
Well actually, those carburetors were used only on the Corvette's six cylinder engines, ending in 1954.
It's too bad that that extra trim, eyebrows, two-toned paint scheme, tachometer and lettering were never carried over to production models. This prototype was lucky to escape GM's crusher
Hi Al_Dente, Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
Beautiful car!
The speedometer is not actually a "ribbon" speedometer. It is a long drum. The red is painted on the drum in a spiral. The faster you go the more red there is exposed.
Hi Automated Electronics, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
I think Oldsmobile had something similar called the "Fire Bomb".
Saw it in a car magazine about twenty years ago and they wanted $5000 if I remember correctly.
Hmmm, "Fire Bomb" I'll have to keep an eye out for that one.
