Well we can agree or disagree on what is instructional/informative. We're happy to release these free full-length lectures to our online audience, and I'm quite certain many people were able to learn quite a bit from this lecture. Thanks for watching.
These lectures were filmed during the Sinquefield Cup, and our classroom had been converted into a live studio for the play-by-play broadcast of the event. So we had to use the demo board to offer the classes. Thanks for watching, and please spread the word!
These are so wonderful. Thank you STL Chess Club. I have been watching your videos over and over. Would love to see a Ben Finegold/Ronen Har-Zvi duo commenting on the upcoming world championship match!
Speak for yourself. I found this video to be both instructional and enjoyable. Gm Finegold is always a fun instructor to watch. This is a very watchable video and the demo board doesn't detract from that.
Ben is the BEST, much respect for this guy, he is making me understand chess in a completely new level. I am not a chess player, but just these lectures made me love the game even more
i was about to say the same thing, but you said before. i deeply respect this human, a real true professor, i feel as luck as he who saw a GM dinossaur speech. Thank you Ben, thank you and your bloodline ! Thank you ! Brasil
I didn't mind. I figured the Cup match kept you from using your normal lecture room. The demo board was fine. I just wish I lived in St. Louis so I could attend some of these events in person. Thank you for posting them online.
Is that person kidding?! The board is absolutely fine! (I don't know if I don't actually prefer the physical board, because some of the variations stay a little longer... Yeah, I know, I haven't listened to GM Finegold to close the video if I didn't meet the rating requirement for participation :D). I can't tell you how grateful I am for these lectures and how amazed I am that you are willing to distribute such valuable content for free!
Quoting from Wikipedia: From the early 1970s, he divided his year between Las Palmas and Buenos Aires,[1] with his Argentinian-born wife. It is true, that Bent was Danish, though.
I love these lectures. I imagine Fischer would lecture a lot like Finegold, but Fischer was too uncaring. Finegold loves us all, so he enjoys sharing his knowledge.
1. Nxc6 Bxa3 2. Nxa5 Bxb2 3. Ra2 Bxc3+ 4. Ke2 Bxa5 5. Rxa5 I guess? if you count the material after this, black is winning by 1 pawn. i guess there would be more efficient way as well, but that's the first that came to my mind.
Why not queen B8 after queen takes a2? Then if queen a4, queen takes C8 with check, king H7, them H3 to prevent mate and you queen the pawn subsequently.
I like Ben's videos as well. Though I have to ask myself why so many of the online analysis people, Finegold is one, Ronen Har-Zvi is another, have to be so intolerably arrogant. Is that the trait of a great chess player? Egos?
sometimes to make high quality content, it is necessary to not release some of the videos you record. there is nothing 'quite instructional/informative' out of a chess board that looks like crumpled up toilet paper. don't let it happen again.

what do you mean, Ben is always aweome
Well the alternative was to not record and post, but we thought this would still be quite instructional/informative. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for posting no matter the circumstances. In my opinion, St. Louis Chess Club has the best chess TH-cam channel.

"Who was this game between?"
"Steinitz and somebody"
"Close. Korchnoi and Spassky. You were very close."
lmao

'Mate with advantage' never fails to make me laugh :D

It's gonna take years before I can watch this
Ben Finegold is my favorite GM, not because how he plays (terrible!), but I enjoy his lectures so much!

These vids are 90 % of the preperation for my tournament this weekend. I think I'll win, unless Ben is there.
When he points at the camera and says you can't watch this hahaha I love Finegold!
Telling his audience not to watch. genius
Ben Finegold is awesome. Can watch his videos all day
It's a joke. A little classic GM Finegold humor there. :)

Why is Penguin giving the lecture? Where's Ben??
The game at 31:34 why is black bishop to A3 the best move? wouldn't white just take queen with knight?

The most funny lecture ever!
In the last puzzle, why not Rf1 after Qc2?
After Rf1, black plays Qxe4, Threatening mate in 2 with Qg4+ and Rh3++
in the second game why not ne4???
This move deserves about 6 exclamation points
I like when the queen falls and he says black's down a queen, so white's winning, lol, towards the later part of the video!
Whats the program he uses to see whats the best move?
Houdini. Although this was 3 years ago, he probably uses another programm now.
+Sergi nah, he still uses Houdini
Press 8 repeatedly once per second. It's fun!

I stopped watching when I could not make out the pieces. I watch all of your videos. Is there a FEN available?
I like Ben's videos as well. Though I have to ask myself why so many of the online analysis people, Finegold is one, Ronen Har-Zvi is another, have to be so intolerably arrogant. Is that the trait of a great chess player? Egos?
lol nice intro
Dr Ben Finegold, one of the greatest jewish chess players of all time, and an incredible presenter
We so love this channel and we highly appreciate the effort ,,, but why is he using that cartoon board !!!!!!!!
I thought white could play Qb8................. Terrible?
Finegold is such a nerd lol.
Too bad about the demo board being used. It is hard to make out the pieces.
Terrible!
xD
Don't really like Ben's style, Yasser is more adorable.

“Don’t let it happen again” the arrogance of that statement lmfaoo
