08:12 "Ke1!! threatening to castle either way. Now, what's funny is: if he castles queenside it's mate. Castles mate." Only Ben thinks like this. Hilarious.
GM charge something like $50.00 plus per hour I just cant believe how many of these lessons / lectures are available for free :-) thank You !!!!!! I got youtube down-loader and am building a nice collection :-)
Mr Finegold is so informative and entertaining. Good thing to drop the "I hate when it happens" running gag just as I started to hate when it happened. But from time to time I like it to be around.
I do the same thing (I'm assuming you mean you lose when you shouldn't, like to lower rated players, or you make bad moves when you know better). I think it's about powers of concentration; mine aren't strong enough to maintain one hundred percent attention for every move of the game, so I end up blundering somewhere. Or at least that's one of the reasons.
"I hate books; they only teach us to talk about things we know nothing about." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau. When you watch lectures like this you have to understand that this is specifically focusing on one possible problem in your play. The lesson of the lecture is to not have a weak d4 pawn, but is that the reason why you're losing games? Analyze your games, find your mistakes and find lectures that specifically focus on the issues you have
Ben is rarely mistaken and almost always joking, so I'd bet he's making a joke! Thanks so much for watching our channel, and please help spread the word. We've got a ton of great videos lined up!
This guy reminds me of my roomy. Great sense of humor. Plus my roomy is probably 23 something so makes good chess coach. As long as he isn't looking over my shoulder berating me while I try push wood on FICS... lol
I always hang all my pawns starting with the a or h pawn so none of them are ever isolated, then when I have 2 pawns to 8 I resign since I can't have an isolated pawn, that would be terrible
In chess, we don't ever take the king. When the king is attacked, and the attacker can't be blocked, taken, or the king has no where to move safely, then you are checkmated and lose the game. Cheers!
Why assume everything should be free? You going to pay their bills for them? The internet is not all about getting things for free. It's a great place to find free stuff, but it's just as much a business as it is a charity.
"I don't assume everything should be free. It should be shared for free." only on discussions of politics or religion can something so incredibly stupid be spoken. Truly.
The foresight of a Grandmaster is incredible. He sacced the exchange because he knew Spencer would be at a specific lecture years later.
If you can't see over 2 decades into the future, your prospects of becoming a GM aren't good
"I drove my chevy to play levy but then levy resigned." Nice.
levee
The Chevy and Levy story will forever be in my memory. Thank you, GM Finegold!

This is how you teach chess.
I have tons of respect for this guy.

Finegold is so funny. Love to see his videos.
This one is about d4 square. So after 64 lectures you guys will be great. This one is about this square.
Drove a Chevy to play Levi; appreciate the humour, adds pleasantry to lecture where at home I am still present. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for yet another awesome lesson!
What an awesome video! It covers a lot of ground, and is fast paced and entertaining, which makes it good for re-watching.
Simply brilliant.
Looking forward to the next 63. =)
Thanks for all the vids I have learned a lot.
Hi Ben, i like your style of teaching, because you always make me laugh!
best regards from germany!:D
Ben for President! :)))

"I drove my Chevy to Levy but Levy resigned"

Why is it that I understand these lectures but when I play chess matches online I still find a way to lose

Agreeing with Ben is not the same as finding the moves and ideas he talks about. Terrible.
04:55 "My d4 pawn is protected by a pawn, so I'm good". Not sure if joking as usual or actually made a mistake :P

I thought so too, just wasn't sure this one time. I'm loving this channel, much of it is over my head, but I'm learning a lot too. Great stuff!
It was a slip of the tongue, not a joke or an error, he was referring to the black d5 pawn.
I know what he was referring to ;p that's what I meant by 'mistake', but I think he actually said it jokingly.
+Jimmy Lundberg He meant to say d-file.
An entire lecture about one square?
"I would play the same openings he would; even though he wasn't born yet, I still did it." 17:18
@10:42: I like to play the Albin Counter Gambit in Black's position, what is your reasoning for playing the Estoniannan?

isnt it like game 1 in anand-carlsen? not exacrylt but pretty similar isnt it?

If someone takes your king and u can promote a pawn, can u promote it to king nad avoid losing the game?

@@shawnhaferkamp8599 You can take the king. If the king is in check and you make an illegal move, taking the king wins the game.
LOL, at the end: "You agree ?"
Subtle joke :P.
or I should say "push pixels" yes?
Greetings from Serbia! I love those lectures, nah, joking I came here for bad humor:)
+Slayzer SERBIA?????!!!!!
Wut?:)
Get paid by the hour
GM Ben is a Great guy he should have his Cholesterol level checked would hate to lose him :-)
Yeah,arrogance isn’t the issue.

why white play h4 at the start
Whites kg1 was a stupid move, should have moved his bishop from d6 to safety
