Yes out of the 3 best covers of this song Laura is the closest to the original score. Jane Zhang skipped a few notes, however she has a very crystalline head voice tone which makes her performance very pleasant to listen. Dimash's cover is the least accurate (lower key, very simplified run, staccatos less than an octave apart) however he is an entertainer and is definitely the most entertaining to watch. Bon True. But there is one part that was digitally modified. It's still her voice but it's not humanly possible to change notes that fast and so accurately.
I first watched the fifth element about 7 years back and found this video within that year. I've consistently returned to this video because it never gets old. Love it even more each time I re watch it. And the thing is I will sit here and listen to it on loop. Granted I don't do that every day but for not getting tired of a song after 7 years of listening to it... I think that says a LOT.
Forget the thousands of stupid Adele and Katy Perry covers. Those are easy songs to sing. Now THIS.....is on a whole different level. You just don't get up one day and sing fucking opera´...and THIS specific song. This lady is amazing and has worked her ass off to be able to do this.
to be fair she couldnt go as low as the "original" is, but afaik know the producers mixed a male voice into the low parts, so she actually couldnt do it perfectly. still a very stunning performance
I can't believe how stupid some ppl are. The sing is not "not possible" to sing at all. In the movie it's just about the flute added with the computer at the one part. But that's all thats impossible...because a human is not a flute!
@@BloodofPatriots NOP, she was too young for that piece and her voice was/is VERY high, so in the middles sounds awful, sounding like a old lady trying to swallow something, but in the other hand the high notes sound well, and of course the lack of technic with the flute part sounds very unconfortable for her and hilly. This video is more acurate and closer.
Seriously, I am floored. I have come back to listen to you and this track so much. I have not heard ANYONE do better. I just finished watching Jane Zhang perform this live with a full orchestra behind her and shit tons of money backing the performance and you STILL mark the example of how 'it's done'. This song, deliberately was written to be impossible by humans. You proved he failed to do that. You are exceptional. Never stop doing it.
Zhang is garbage. I have no idea why so many people like her. She's known for hitting those high notes very well but that's about it. Everything else she does, I can hardly bare to listen..
Y'all need to stop degrading Jane just because she has a full orchestra behind her, which rly doesn't do anything to help her sing btr. Jane also didn't have any vocal guide like here Laura did(Jane even took off her in-ear).Of course,Laura had done a really really good job here, but she can retake it as many times as she wants while Jane can only do it once(still not degrading them but just pointing it out. Also I'm pretty sure both of them had rehearsed really hard on this piece,so don"t "Jane can rehearse"on me).
14 years later I just find the best performance (Canon wise), of the partitura. Beautiful Powerful, and so, so damn accurate and this part is what stroke me as career musician. Really congratz for the work made on that voice.
I remember years ago, I watched this clip so many times, and thought she was one of the best. After having seen many others over the years, I now know this lady is just simply by far the very best. ( I must point out the fact that she sang it right after introducing her self, sounded to me like a first take? How is that even humanly possible)
@@Coralista_zee Dimash sang a great version of it, but it is far from the most accurate to the original. This version is probably the most accurate I've heard.
@@yell0w355 dimash's version isn't the most accurate because he is an original singer and wants to show that he can hit every note perfectly (which he does) and then go even further by adding tougher notes, movements, and more. He is always about taking a song, singing it to perfection, and then improving it to a level he thinks suits his own style
wow really awesome! in the original movie version, they made that short jumping parts in the voice by computer, but you almost managaed it by you own, uncut voice! my deepest respect!
Not exactly, because the original in the movie wasn't sung by Evgenia but by Inva Mula. Evgenia did a cover herself but everything of the song^^ The part in the movie was indeed edited because they thought it humanly impossible
This is true. I myself thought it was humanly impossible because Mula said so and because the original soundtrack is so obviously edited (certain notes sounding like they were made on a synthesizer). I was suspicious when this girl started singing with a background track that she would just drop out at the hard jumps and make it look like she was still singing, but it seems that she did indeed manage to sing "the impossible song" without editing her own voice. Sounds better than the original, in my opinion, because it sounds natural. I wish she'd attempted the aria too. The "Il dolce suono" aria is truly beautiful (and a bit creepy given its context in the original opera "Lucia di Lammermoor").
Wow. I was always looking to found a video of someone nailing that song. I remembered back then when tbey say it will never be done by human. So far every video or interpretation i seen, they we're right. Some people skip notes or adjust this and that. You didn't. Every notes, every vibes, every tone. PERFECT. You deserve more recognition. Bravo.
@@wolker213 It's better because it's natural. You don't hear any fake sampled synth stops in those crazy runs( which would be obvious to anyone in the music business quite honestly)..she breathes all the way through all the notes throughout the entire piece. Bravo!

(PS. I am just adding to your comment as a tangent. I totally agree with your comment :) )
MrGreenAKAguci00 It is still technically impossible. the original wasn't autotuned actually, that opera singer that does it is considered the best opera singer in the world
MissLizzieLou And actually the first part is harder to sing, this part just impress more.
Bon True. But there is one part that was digitally modified. It's still her voice but it's not humanly possible to change notes that fast and so accurately.
Marcell McKenzie Humanly, the Diva was not.
+Kaylasa JaguarStar stfu loser
+CGagnon5 why don't you shut up
Songs at that level are legendary and just to sing those songs is amazing! even if you make a little mistake you kill it any way ;)
Kaylasa JaguarStar agreed. my jaw dropped. just amazing and beautiful all in one voice.
Kaylasa JaguarStar it's mostly computer generated sound. all singers use something lately
For the past 14 years whenever I feel down I listen to you sing this. Always helps!
Awwww!! I love that! Thank you. 😘😘😘
@@disneydiva7 you are precious, dont forget that. Lots of people Love you and your talents!
@@AbuHajarAlBugatti 😭😭😭🥰🥰🥰
This is still the absolute closest any human being has come to nailing this song. There is no competition.
Agree.
You right , this is the best version on youtube ,and on this planet !
So Inva Mula is not a human being ?
eXEPT it was a human being who wrote, and performed the song origionally...
mizzury54 Mula sang the whole song except the famous part
Undefeated in 2021. Yes Im a year early but in twelve months this will still be true.
facts😂
Just came by to say that I'm still watching this in 2025 ...
ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ nice you’re from the future hi there! Lol
Search Dimash Kudaibergen Il dolce suono, bruh
She's still better than dimash...in my opinion...
It says something about yourself when you can do something that the movie-makers themselves said was explicitly impossible.
to be fair she couldnt go as low as the "original" is, but afaik know the producers mixed a male voice into the low parts, so she actually couldnt do it perfectly. still a very stunning performance
Still, this is the closest in the whole Internet. As close to perfection as it gets
Technically the official source *is* impossible without voice modifiers, but this was damn good for a supposed human.
I can't believe how stupid some ppl are. The sing is not "not possible" to sing at all. In the movie it's just about the flute added with the computer at the one part. But that's all thats impossible...because a human is not a flute!
@@wioi it's impossible because the notes change too fast for a human to physically catch up with. Not because there's a flute in there
That "sorry" smile in the end kills me every time. What an artist.
1:38 closer than anyone I've heard. That note is practically impossible and you pretty much nailed it 9/10. Great work. Wonderful voice.
İn original it’s a synth sample something like that, she sang it that’s incredible...
9/10?? LMAO! What else does this lady have to do for you?
@@blissboo3892turn blue and be on a space cruiser i guess? xD
This was closer: th-cam.com/video/hmIeijo7s80/w-d-xo.html
Yeah, Zhang couldn't nail the 'impossible' flutter part but this gal here did.
If it's written by man it can be sung by man.
Zhang is garbage. I have no idea why so many people like her. She's known for hitting those high notes very well but that's about it. Everything else she does, I can hardly bare to listen..
totally agree!
Composer: I wrote this so that no human voice can sing it
Girl: Hold my drink...
The fact this is Truth
14 years later I just find the best performance (Canon wise), of the partitura. Beautiful Powerful, and so, so damn accurate and this part is what stroke me as career musician. Really congratz for the work made on that voice.
I remember years ago, I watched this clip so many times, and thought she was one of the best. After having seen many others over the years, I now know this lady is just simply by far the very best.
( I must point out the fact that she sang it right after introducing her self, sounded to me like a first take? How is that even humanly possible)
Check out Dimash's version in Batsu concert. It seems like it is humanly possible
I didn't catch that---Way to go for pointing this out!!!!!!!!!
Zenia Shah Yes but his version is changed from the original
No Evgenia Laguna sung the entire song in the move unedited and untouched with her vocal range Evgenia is the QUEEN of opera
This girl doesn't compare
Jessi Stepaloupuss
seriously? I thought it was edited for real!... wow!
*****
... sooo... I was right after all?
Not exactly, because the original in the movie wasn't sung by Evgenia but by Inva Mula. Evgenia did a cover herself but everything of the song^^
The part in the movie was indeed edited because they thought it humanly impossible
Bravo.
Thank you!
Cleanest version since the movie ive heard. Bravo
Im my opinion its even better in some way.
@@wolker213 It's better because it's natural. You don't hear any fake sampled synth stops in those crazy runs( which would be obvious to anyone in the music business quite honestly)..she breathes all the way through all the notes throughout the entire piece. Bravo!
What about Jane Zhang?
Did you listen to the Dimash version ? Listen to his low notes; the staccato and his last high note. Amazing
@@subliminal5543 Jane sang it well and enjoyed her performance. Of course she cannot reach the low notes as a soprano but it was delivered nicely.

yes.
Love the snarl face.
😂😂 "I hope you're ok"
Oh wait you weren't talking about her recovery from the facial expressions
I really loved this song ever since I first heard it but the computer enhancement lowered the experience. I just thought that's it wouldn't be humanly possible to sing like that - the speed of changing the tones ... this is absolutely amazing, bravo

OH MY GOD!!!!! This was a little slice of heaven! I can't believe I am just now seeing this. That scene from The Fifth Element is absolutely mesmerizing, and to have you actually sing something which is not supposed to be singable by a human is incredible. I'd love to see you actually sing the whole piece, including the operatic portion.
I agree, Laura could make it possible with ease and grace!! Powerhouse vocal delight!
You do realize that the voice in the movie is modified and therefor shouldn't be replicable by humans
you just didn't gave a damn about it and you went there
IT IS F**KING AMAZING!!!!!!!

14 years after the recording and yet still the only performance sides the original that gives me goosebumps. hope your doin well. awesome job.

I hope someone out there sponsors this incredible singer, she's beyond most singers I've ever heard.
I can't recall how many times I've watched the movie or this video. I could watch them both all day every day and still be completely, utterly, blissfully happy. So incredibly beautiful. it really annoys me that they're giving a girl in a talent show all the buzz when this woman is doing it 10 times better than she did
+Han solo It annoys ME that coloratura sopranos are singing this high and quick in opera houses, university music dept practice rooms, and all over the world, with no mics, over orchestras night after night, and yet nobody gives a sh*t unless someone is on a talent show lol. (PS. I am just adding to your comment as a tangent. I totally agree with your comment :) )
rachel stewart exactly and they claim that this piece is impossible to be sang.
MrGreenAKAguci00 No, but a portion on this song is impossible to sing.
MrGreenAKAguci00 It is still technically impossible. All of the covers come very close, but there are still incomplete musical sentences because it is physically impossible to change pitch at the speed of the original, especially since the original was spliced recordings put together specifically MADE to be impossible. The writer himself has said no one has done it perfectly, including this woman and many others.
It has more to do with the accessibility. The talent show chick showed up in my recommended while this video I had to search. And obviously someone on a big talent show will receive more attention than people in practice rooms and random opera houses
For the love of all things, please learn the first half. It will be brilliant! You have the best actual cover of this!
