Thanks my sister, I would however like to put some hints on the" LUO".According to our history and ancestry, The Luo were originally from Israel, proof can be found when you trace the Jewish/Hebrew traditions and practices including naming, worship, etc. The were messengers and as such embarked on a long journey through Jordan to Egypt to Sudan and Uganda etc. The name Luo means messenger(s).Consequently they split up into different countries. The luo ethnic group is a group of people who speak a relatively related dialect with the root word/suffix "DANO" which means people or person. There is more about us..........however the luo are not nilotes.....the word nilotes was a description of their entrails or course by the white man. Luo is on it's own an independent ethnic group.

Thanks Ayaa for this insightful analysis as well as all your other works. By their nature the Luo have a strong homing instinct and connection to their local habitat and would therefore not migrate without a strong compelling reason. Could it be that at some point in our history the Luo were overrun by a much stronger group and had to flee south as they did to the present lands of South Sudan, South West Ethiopia, Eastern Congo, Northern and Eastern Uganda, Western Kenya and Northern Tanzania from the lands of the north (Egypt)?

Luwo = to follow in Kenyan Luo or gi dholuo. Waluwo is therefore we followed or we are following depending on where you place the accents. Also the prefixes or suffixes around the verb luwo help clarify tense. Else, the root word for follow
      is luwo.

Actually the opposite . The Luo were never been conquered . The Luo expanded through conquest, intermarriages and assimilation and never practiced slavery . They instead preferd to assimilate groups .
The Luo had skilled warriors including Owiny and Lwanda Magere . The Luo expanded due to their capacity to organize socially, economically and geographically . Same way the English expanded in the 18th century .
In Africa only the Somali and Fulani and to some extent the Shona or Zulu expanded . The Somali and Fulani expansion is due to nomadic lifestyles while the Zulu was due to different conflicts and conquests .
The Luo practiced River Lake fishing ,small scale farming and pastoralism and cattle keeping like other Nilotics . The Luo established several chieftaincies and kingdoms including the Luo-Shilluk Kingdom that fought Turko-Egyptian hegemony in 645AD stopping the spread of slavery .

@@kb_rtd1430 The arrival of the Luo in Bunyoro Kitara was dramatic .The Bachwezi had previously invaded and occupied Bunyoro Kitara and were subdued by the Luo through conquest .
The Luo had skilled warriors in their southward movement and are among the few groups in the continent presently spread out in at least 9 territories . The others include the Fulani through their nomadic lifestyle .
The Somali in Kenya , Ethiopia , Djibouti, Somalia . The Waswahili in Kenya , Somalia, Tanganyika ,Zanzibar ,Mozambique, Malagasy/Madagascar, Lamu, Pemba, Pate . Also the Shona and Zulu to some extent . Historically the Luo and Zulu had skilled warriors that led their settlements .

@@kb_rtd1430 The Luo-Babito assumed Kingship and rulership of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom after the Bachwezi fled and had almost a 500 year legacy that also provided rulerships for the Baganda .
The Luo-Babito Kingdom is a case study for major history departments on Black/African history including Oxford where Okot P’Bitek Ugandan Luo-Acholi Lawyer and Poet wrote his dissertations on the assimilation of the Langi into Luo .

@@kb_rtd1430 The Luo initiated the Abakama Kings adopting local bantu dialects to effect their rulership .This lasted 18 generations .
After the death of Omukama Tito Owinyi in 1971 the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom as ruled by the Luo ended following its 1967 dissolution by the Uganda government .
The Luo Babito Kingdom that controlled Bunyoro Kitara for almost 5 centuries was led by the Luo-Jo Bito clan . The Jo-Bito come from the Bito tree .
This group had moved from Bukidi in Northern Uganda originally occupying Tekidi in Agora mountains .
The success of the Luo-Babito Kingdom was replicated in Buganda and US President Roosevelt would soon visit in 1910 and was stunned at the level of organization that he found in Buganda taking the same principles to influence US democracy .

The Luo are diasporic(at least 20million spread out in roughly 9 territories) and settled thousands years with skilled warriors(e.g Owiny) through conquest, intermarriage and assimilation e.g Luo-Suba in Kenya, Tanzania and Luo-Babito in Uganda with tendencies for large families thanks to history of polygamy in the past like all other AFRO groups .
The Luo conquered several kingdoms in the past through their southward movement and contributed to banyarwanda tutsi southwest movement to present day Rwanda/Congo, influencing rulership for Luo-babito and Baganda Kingdoms in Uganda .
