the only thing i can think of while watching mein is : "why wahaj?. i fail to understand why he signed up for this after delivering the biggest hit of his career. In "mein" it almost seems like badar is purposefully undermining Wahaj for some reason. I'm so sorry he just does not look or act like a corporate bigwig/son of a CEO. He looks like bechara saad with a better wardrobe.
bad career move on Wahajs part, sorry.

Faryal Mehmood and Ushna Shah have American accents because they grew up in the Americas. Both of them could have aced Kim's character. Both are being ignored by the industry because they are opinionated and therefore, 'controversial'.Kubra Khan is wonderful too but she has a British accent.Maya's performance is great as well.I just wish she focused less on her hair and makeup and more on building her character

I really appreciate you guys providing some criticism to the Yunhi team. Maya should have learnt the lingo and done her homework with the accent (it's literally her job as an actor) . Many British actors/actresses in Hollywood learn how to speak in American accents with voice coaches and go through several workshops to brush up their skills of another language in order to get more work. I'm sorry to say this but the majority of Pakistani actors and actress don't do the job properly and in most cases it's because they look good and are commercially viable so they don't feel the need to improve. People like Sabeena Farooq, (Haya from Tere Bin and Barbeena from Kabuli Pulao) who are theatre actors and try their best to work on their craft and improve are always left behind because of producers wanting commercial appeal which is why actresses like Maya get casted. In conclusion, Pakistani entertainment is in dire need of a proper business structure when it comes to production, casting and uplifting the overall value of dramas/movies.

Yunhi - That George looked like he was about 40 years old and definitely not what I expected of that character. It got me riled up while watching the episode as well. I actually watched Made in Heaven this last weekend after Aamna talked about it and in that show pay attention to the accents of the characters who came from other countries. There was an episode where one person was from US the man has a US accent, same with the lady from Australia, yep Australian accent. The perfect person for Yunhi in the Pakistani industry would have been Ushna Shah or Kubra Khan.

If Maya put in effort she could have practiced an American accent, Shradda Kapoor isnt from the west but can immitate a perfect foreign accents. Surely an actor should be able to do that. But that would take effort. Tbh it sounded like Maya wasn't even confident speaking in English let alone the accent issue.

Kim is really disappointing in Yunhi. Insisting on meeting her ex after her husband tells her he doesn't want her to. Shes coming across as stubborn and immature and kind of heartless for ignoring such a wonderful and kind husband. Regardless of how modern you are if your spouse is really uncomfortable with something you respect it. Whether you are the husband or wife. Even goras or non Muslims or non Pakistanis would do that much for their spouse. No one would accept their spouse hanging out so much with their ex. Dawood is extremely reasonable. The director doesn't know how to balance the screen time. Till now, Zaid has just repetitive scenes because nothing is happening in his life till he will have to marry Mubarashira. They should have summed up all this happening in just 2.5 or 3 episodes. Wish Mein was given to some better director.

Mein's problem is that it is neither a grey drama just about incompatibility nor is it letting us root for anyone in particular.
Mubashira's tantrums like unnecessarily shouting on the lawyer who is helping her, or badmouthing everyone she finds, are not being humanized but we are also constantly reminded in over the top ways that she and Zaid will be end game.
Also, Mohib's character has been made to "look" like a villain, when in fact he was the victim, mentally harassed and humiliated for two years after he settled for Hina, who is also being projected as feeble and spineless. But just him "looking" like a villain and Mubashira looking beautiful is not enough. We cannot sympathize with Mubashira unless it is either explained that she has some past issues or it is concluded in some way that Mohib doesn't like strong women and wanted a feeble woman like Hina in the long run. We clearly saw how she has insulted him many times so it becomes difficult to feel bad for her.
This show would have worked better if everyone was grey and relatable because after all this, Zaid and Mubashira's love track is only gonna look forced.

Yunhi - Maya Ali a.k.a Kim (let’s forget the fact she has no American accent and the actor did zero homework to make her character believably from the US). Let’s try and remember how Kim invaded David’s privacy by going through his personal diary and found the photos of his college girlfriend which she without his consent advertised to all. Then she befriended her dad’s best friend overnight contrary to her claim she cannot trust the men in this country. Constantly refused to call her mother in law ‘Ammi’ instead of Razia even after several requests from her. Eavesdropped on several conversations. Gave terrible advise to Suraiya to elope. Stole Iqbal’s love letter without asking for her permission. But let’s all hail the mighty Kim because even after all this, she will ensure people see her as the honest, virtuous and forward looking girl who is bringing about a change. I am sorry but this is such a flawed character and her character arch is on a slippery slope now with the whole George meet-up. She met George to show how important a person’s commitment is to meet a friend who is an ex (with a hint at what an open-minded western would do, which I doubt any sane human being would do). Very disappointed in Yunhi and specially Maya Ali. David is the only saving grace of Yunhi.

Dare I say even Wahaj is looking really dull and boring. It’s as if she’s the only actress in the drama and everyone else are just Badar Mehmood’s typical ajeeb extras that he loves to throw into every other scene. His direction makes it seems like everyone was first taught to forget their acting skills and then act as worse as they possibly could. I really don’t understand how he still gets work after so many critical disasters. And I don’t understand the audience that this show is pulling in. Mein: Everybody is blaming director and not the actors. Okay the story execution is director's job, creating character arc is his job but acting in a particular scene is not his job. Lead actress who is suffering from bi-polar disorder is clueless about disorder. She should have made a litlle bit search on this before signing such role. Then Comes lead actor who looks lethargic, he is playing role of a rich arrogant boy. His body language is not supporting this role at all. It seems they have given suits to their office boy and asked him to behave like son. If Ayeza's energy level is 110 then Wahaj's energy level is 10. Didn't they read the script that says both are equally strong-headed people. Role creation is not entirely director's job. Good actors work on that.
In Idiot where everybody is acting bad, AAA and Nayyar Ijaz outshine because they are good actors. They are not hiding behind director. Saba Qamar too worked with the same director but she showed that she is Saba.

YH: Totally agree with each and every criticism. Maya Ali is really beautiful, glamourous and definitely looks the part. But its not just about her accent, she goes wrong with her words and grammar way too many times. Merely disregarding it as an incorrect accent/diction will not be right. She should have really worked hard on her part or atleast should have been guided accordingly by the director as her flaws seem very obvious. Only good looks will not save the charachter, especially a complex and layered one like Kim. I believe that the casting choice could have gotten much better if they would have gone for Ushna Shah or Kubra Khan.

In THKN , Salma's dad has definitely done something. He's not as open minded as he was shown to be. Salma's mom is what she is. If she feels something, she says it. That's not the case with her father though. He could have a clearconversation with Salma and share his concerns with her. But he gave her the impression that he'll consider Sikander while he had decided otherwise. Hence, he did called Atif's family suddenly although previously he was against getting her married early. He didn't even ask for her consent. He just said main unko han keh dun ga. Man atleast ask for her consent. That is why he comes across as a hypocrite. She used to think so highly of him.
Also, it's very disturbing how parents can completely disregard their children's valid concerns. Salma has previously mentioned to her parents how Atif misbehaved with her and even touched her. How can they ignore this? His mother already said questionable things about Salma. How could they give their daughter in this family? If a family is not respecting you and your daughter before marriage, what makes you think they will do that after marriage? From Salma's perspective, it's absolutely scary and suffocating to be getting married to a man around whom you feel so uncomfortable. A man who's marrying her only to satisfy his fragile ego, imagine what he could do to her.

If the pronunciation of 'concert' Amna is using as a reference is based on the standard/most used American accent, then Hasan pronounced 'concert' near correctly, and did not need to be corrected. Amna, in fact, pronounced it incorrectly (please Google this is you disagree). This is coming from someone born and raised in America who has an absolute obsession with grammar and a sound understanding of the range of accents used to pronounce words. I've held off on commenting on this before because I appreciate that Amna and Hasan have a close bond. However, it has really started to irk me when Amna corrects Hasan about his pronunciation of certain words. Half the time he's actually correct (keeping in mind there are more than one way to pronounce a word depending on where your accent in English is from - US versus UK). Also, I just don't find it polite to correct someone as they are speaking. This is a reminder to myself and others to be confidant in their speech and to be polite to others who may have a different accent or pronunciation. End rant :) It's possible I should have continued to hold off on commenting, but too late now :/

I haven’t watched the uncut version so I’m not sure if it’s true, BUT it would make sense given 1) his “change” of attitude, 2) the comment he made to Danish stating, “6 saal ki mehnat mitti mai”, and 3) his comment to Aruba/Michelle about “jo public dhekree hai…”, something along the lines of the image they’re creating.

I think he’s a directors actor and he needs a good strong director to bring out his true potential - case in point dnutn, tb and jbg. Mein: the support cast is terrible and the direction is so haphazard. The girl playing his girlfriend has so spark and they have zero chemistry

Yunhi: Ushna Shah should be cast instead of Maya.

22 Qadam: hassan while I agree with you about the use of the roti dough,as unpalatable given the economic status of this family, but also generally ‘wasting’ food for me is a no no, but maybe it was the writer and directors poetic licence to show that while people link women’s duty as homemakers cooks, but that these two have real passion for cricket, and if anything the expectation of them only being homemakers doesn’t thwart their desires and passion for cricket which home making won’t satisfy.Girls have a right to dream too, much like in DNUTN!

Sadly amna watched the Tamasha when Faizan flipped under the guidance of the makers as understood from the uncut. Amna, Hassan was right, Faizan was v cunning! Now he's hiding his true self.

22 qadam…I didn’t approve of atta being thrown, but they could have shown them throwing the pedas in a paraat…that said, it’s one of my favourite dramas.

#Mairi please talk about Mai Ri in Haute Bites...I feel so uncomfortable watching this cringe drama, giving the absolutely wrong message. The under age couple is presented as more mature and sensible than the older couples, and all 13 14 years old are conspiring to defame the other same age cousin like a conniving old woman, and a 14 15 years old boy is dying for the married 14 years old girl, while another 12 13 years old is dying for a 14 years old. It gives me shudders when I read comments beneath the episode where everyone is rooting for more scenes between Fakhir and Aini, 14 years old couple.

I so agree with you. I was shocked to see how people reacting to it. It's bizarre that they are creating romantic scenes between two 13, 14 year olds. It was supposed to be a drama highlighting the consequences of a child marriage but It's glorifying it.

Nice episode but one complaint why less praise for Wahaj Ali in 22 Qadam
He was great in episode but both of you didn’t give any shout out to him☺️..Rest I agree that in Mein his character wasn’t shown much in episode & I am hoping u do review Mein someday as I am hopeful too Wahaj as Zaid will be amazing in episodes ahead.
    Thanks 🙏

Started watching JAM as the starcast is impressive... however the story could have been interesting but the script is weak....hence the characters aren't likeable...still a much better view than most of the below average -over hyped serials.
