I grew up in the UK and France and also the US once I was married. In Europe everyone takes vacation in August for six weeks. In the US schools are closed from May to August and hardly anyone takes a whole month vacation. Maybe two weeks.
I love that you manage to stay so normal, sane and human in the industry you work in. A lot of people without their phone for two hours would go nuts nowadays, not knowing what to do with themselves, and you treat yourself with a date. I really liked that part.
We go on holiday in Scotland all year round - go to the Canaries for heat in winter. London and Paris in spring. The only traditional holidays were 2 weeks in July but really were such workaholics we need to operate all year round.
