I remember I promised my mum I wouldn’t stay at the game if it went to extra time as I had school the next day, and as the game ticked over to 90 minutes I was so in a quandary to leave or stay that I almost missed Jimmy Neighbour’s goal, I looked back towards the pitch just as the ball landed at his feet. The weird part was I ran onto the pitch after the game and was probably still on the pitch celebrating at about the time extra time would of finished. Still I got home to mum shaking her head at me but smiling as she how much I loved West Ham, she never told me off or anything. RIP mum you were one in a million!

Thanks so much for posting this. It's such a breath of fresh air to be able to watch some real football as opposed to the pathetic imitiation which masquerades as it under the name of the "Premier" league. This was the premier time for football and, thank God, they can never take it away from us. Great content on all your videos - haven't watched the TV for months. They've managed to ruin that as well. Keep up the good work.

You can thank me. This footage originates from my vhs recorded at the time. The join at half time is identical, as are some of the glitches, thats how i know.! A ''friend'' sold my whu dvds on ebay years ago, and they have circulated and been raped many times since.!

I went to most of the matches in our League Cup run that season, including Tottenham at home, both legs of the semi’s, the final and the final replay. What a wonderful time that was to be a Hammer.

I was in the west side that night never heard bubbles sung louder than that night just before Goddards goal. Once they seated the west side part of our atmosphere died imo.

I travelled down from Coventry with my brother and his friends (all City supporters) and had to sit amongst the Coventry fans, high up in the stand near the TV cameras. From the first minute there was a City supporter counting down, “Only 90 minutes to go; only 89 minutes to go.”
This continued unabated until the first goal went in, but as soon as the winner was scored, an East End voice cried out, “Only 90 seconds to go!” which produced a cheer almost as loud as when the goal went in.
It was my very first trip to Upton Park and is still my most memorable.

Coventry keeper Les Sealey once had an outfielder substitute role for West Ham in a PL game a decade or so later after this game.

100 miles per hour. Fantastic stuff. Curious to why Coventry are not wearing the admiral away kit

Paul Goddard was a brilliant player but very under-rated.

Very strange kit Coventry are wearing

Third kit perhaps? Was this still while they were with Admiral with the front stripes on shirts/shorts or had a red change kit that would clash with Hammers's claret? I know the infamous choc brown change kit by Admiral was soon binned to be exchanged for red.
