  • In this video I share my perch fishing tips to try and help anglers locate and catch big perch on lures. I’m absolutely buzzing to be Perch fishing on the river again. The temperatures are just starting to drop and so it feels like it's time!!!
    I’m on a stretch of river that I’ve not fished for perch on before, so it gives me a great opportunity to share with you my approach to trying to find and catch some decent perch on a new venue. It’s still quite mild, we’ve not hit the freezing cold temperatures of winter yet and so it’s a great time to get out there and investigate new spots.
    Thanks as always for checking out the video. Please don't forget to like and subscribe for more perch fishing content that's already in the edit!

    Another great video Nick, can't wait for the new Perch masters, started my perch fishing about 4 weeks ago caught plenty of wasps but nothing above 12 oz but enjoying it very much short 2 hour sessions at the weekend leading up to dark is all I have time for with family commitments. Catching most on the Ned rigged motor oil Squirm, tempted to give the drop shot a go but too many jacks about as I am using the Derennan 10lb trace wire you recommended and feel the drop shot on fluorocarbon would result in bite off from a jack. keep up the good work!!

    • @jayc3106
      @jayc3106 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got the same dilemma. Only getting out at dawn or dusk for short sessions and feel like using a trace is affecting the subtlety of the lure and limiting the bites I get. Switched to a fluoro leader and hooked a decent pike on just a 5cm squirm! It came off, but there was clearly damage to the leader. Might have to switch to this light trace I've seen a few people mention.

    • @Lifeonthebank
      @Lifeonthebank  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You’ll notice that I risked the Dropshot but only once I’d found a pack of decent perch. I think the problems occur when people are ‘searching’ with a Dropshot. You’ll probably encounter pike before you find the perch, I find the 10lb fine wire works ok. Had the bigger fish at the end of the video on the 10lb Drennan wire. I don’t think it will hold you back but do understand your concerns. If there’s a load of jacks present then you gotta use it, no real choice. Hopefully you’ll catch a few decent fish on the thin wire and that will build your confidence in it. Thanks again for checking out the video guys 👍👍👍🙏

    • @gothicgorey
      @gothicgorey ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What you need to use is knot2kinky 6lb wire trace lot more subtle that your standard traces and does not spook perch . Game changer for perch

    Hi nick cheers for all the great content. Abit curious as to why you were using fluro above the wire trace? I normally tie braid direct to trace?

    • @Lifeonthebank
      @Lifeonthebank  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve always added a length of fluro above the trace, mainly as it’s less visible in the water than the braid. It’s also a bit stronger than the thin braid I use, so acts as a leader that a bit more durable. 👍👍

    Good afternoon buddy. As soon as I seen that you were doing some perch fishing videos again I was over the moon. What a cracking video. Absolutely loves them perch and although I don’t get much chance to go out fishing with Work and family and stuff watching your videos always keeps me happy and keeping myself itchy for my next fishing trip when I get chance. Some cracking fish and like you see the markings on that pike were absolutely amazing. We do have some cracking fish in our waters. Whether they are big or small, it’s always nice to see them. Watching your video though made me think that my braid might be a bit on the heavy side. The rivers where I fish are a bit Snaggy and I use 20lb . Do you think it is a bit heavy ? My leader seems about right. I know it’s probably personal preference but any advice from someone who was a lot more experienced always goes along way. Anyway all the best and keep them stripey videos coming. Absolutely love them. Top man and well done sir 😊

      Maybe fish up in the water more, maybe even surface lures? If you’re using a jighead, go light to stop it dropping to the deck. 1g - 1.5g. At this time of year they’re still pretty active. They’ll hit a lure that’s moving above the snags on the bottom. I hope that helps! 👍
