  • Watch as a freight train is built at Mirror Lake, and then take a ride behind the steam local as it travels to avalanche where it makes its scheduled delivery. This video was filmed during the White Creel Railroad's 2015 Spring Meet. Thank you for watching The Steam Channel!

The lack of a cab on that steamer makes it look naked.

WOW! It's amazing! I have not yet met the railways, where one could ride on the true worked steam locomotive like as ride on a horse! ;-) Very well, many thanks!

Thank you! We had some fairly heavy cars along with us on this run. There were two hoppers filled with rock and a loaded log car..in retrospect, it was a bit too much for this Allen Models Ten Wheeler given the grades on the railroad.

What kind of whistle is that at 2:30? Sounds amazing.

Why is there a Burlington Zephyr in the thumbnail when it's not in the video? I hate when people do that.

This seems to be a dying hobby, i rarely see young people conducting these trains on videos

I created and run The Steam Channel brand to try and make inroads into reversing that trend.

Probably because by the time these guys finally finish their custom built engines, they are old men... I saw somewhere where an engine took 14,000 hours to complete.

You also don't have the resources to build your engine until you're old as well.

Hardly...I’m building an 844 and I’m by no means old. The hobby is no more expensive than buying a bunch of vision line Lionel engines. Buy 5 of those and you can have someone build you a nice road diesel for that cash.

@@TheSteamChannel Running today's Lionel trains is pretty expensive! I was in that hobby 30 yrs back and it wasn't cheap then.
