In Mushoku Tensei season 2 part 2 episode 1 (or season 2 episode 13) we see Rudeus get his mansion, and encounter an automated doll along the way. But who made this doll, why is the manual in a language he, Zanoba and Cliff can't understand, and what is the lore behind the house? Haha yeah when you read Mushoku Tensei even it just seems like there was this eccentric dead inventor guy, but actually, yeah, it goes really deep!
In volume 26 Orsted it sort of implies that Orsted somehow managed to restore Laplace to his former state and spoke to him.
“They say even Laplace didn’t know who wore the armor during that battle. I heard they’d died and had no interest in finding out more. The Fighting God has never challenged me as an enemy like this before.”
“Did you…did you hear that from Laplace himself, in a past loop?”
“Yes. That, and that I am the son of the first Dragon God, and that first Dragon God was the one to lay this curse upon me.”
“And yet you have to kill Laplace.”
“Correct. To reach the Man-God, I must kill the five Dragon Generals and retrieve the sacred treasures.”
Since both demon god and technique god Laplace have lost their memory and shouldn’t know anything about the mythical age, the only way he could have heard this information would have been if he managed to re-merge the two Laplaces somehow.
Considering the D&D monster of the lich, their soul is housed in the 'treasure' and the lich doesn't die unless the phylactery/treasure is destroyed. Thus it doesn't entirely track that Orsted would have to kill, unless destroying the treasure is needed to access the seal
I think that’s an amazing theory and I honestly never really thought too hard about chaos dying.

I re-read Old Dragon's Tale recently and boy... what a great prequel and top notch fan translation.
I had kind of forgotten given how long ago I first read it but that fan translation actually captures the charm of Rifujin-sensei's prose that most of the WN translations tended to stumble on.
I'm so happy this anime is back and that you're making videos on it again. I loved this episode, especially seeing Rudy's sweet side when he's with Sylphie. I'd forgotten Zanoba was a tank, too, so I got worried for a sec, until "I am a blessed child.", when I was like "Oh ya. Right." lol
That's an interesting theory. Since I'm anime only I can't really comment much more than that, but I do love getting these deep lore lessons from you.
Isekai has change a lot in a short period of time. Nanahoshi form Mushoku Tensei, did everything she could to get home, and Suzune form The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic, could not wait to get isekai'd.
I read all of the light novels after finishing season 2 part 1 and am fucking psyched for the rest of the series. If i'm right in my counting, there should be like 4 seasons give or take, since each season as a whole covers 6 volumes
Perugious and Orsted seem both to be reincarnated as they don't have wings, a Dragon Race trait. I like your idea of treasure enabling reincarnation.
With Orsted it makes sense as he's only half dragon race and it's never stated whether he has wings or not as a baby. Perugius though should have them, and that's never explained, so maybe he is reincarnated in a new form.
O always thought that Chaos was resurrected using the Dragon's reincarnation arcane that Laplace used, but your theory is also plausible

i love your readings of Old Dragons tale. granted, i've never finished your series as i always watch that playlist to help me fall asleep. you have a very soothing and relaxing voice and i think the farthest i've gotten is a little under halfway though before i crash and fall asleep. so your first few videos in that series have a ton of views jsut from me using them as sleep material.

Having read the WN first; and only years later through your narration hearing the prequel; I can say that Chaos I always thought was omni present or some such. Able to be multiple places. With original thoughts of "Oh it was Orsted... why did they call him Mad King and what is Chaos about?"
Laplace is my current thought. the divided self made the doll; but having been divided Laplace went MAD (not to be confused with mad a word not MAD a phrase). Orsted has to stop the mad dragon king Laplace (chaos) from causing Mutially Assured Destruction (MAD). Because only Hitogami is divide from said damage enough to live allowing him to be free and reuse the remnants of that which was and remake the world in Hitogami's image with it... World domination by literally picking up the ashes of what came before.
I don't know how long Old Dragon's tale is, but I would like to see an anime adaption of it because I feel that the Dragon God race are the most interesting group of people in the Mushoku Tensei lore. I like the new kimono outfit. It's very beautiful.
Thank you! Well, length wise I think it would just be one or two light novel volumes - I have a playlist reading the whole thing out on this channel and it's not like, the kind of thing an OVA could cover, but a movie probably could.

Could it be that Chaos simply used reincarnation magic similarity to Laplace and Orsted?
Probably not. The dragon generals die ashamed of their actions and rebellion against their god. They do not seem like they would use resurrection magic even if they did know how, but if the dragon god resurrected them instead, they would accept that as a blessing. These are not characters seeking immortality, and also they all expect to die when they rebel. It just wouldn't make sense for Chaos and the others to have done that.

@@justinbarth2545I think if we do it'll be in an OVA or a kind of standalone episode like the Roxy family reunion one in season 1. We're definitely going to see what she's been doing in this period at some point, because otherwise highlighting Nina in the Badigadi episode wouldn't pay off, but this season won't get up to Eris coming back into Rudy's life, so if it's in this season it'll be in a non-Rudy episode.

Love the lore video. Was wondering about the doll and now knowing it was Chaos, makes me wonder more of what the original purpose of the doll was.
Personally I think it is what they think it is, just a guardian for his house. Chaos was the inventor and armorer in the dragon world, and his biggest accomplishment was the flying fortress Chaos Breaker, which Perugius remade in the MT world and lives in. A doll like this would be as simple as making an interesting new sword to someone capable of making Chaos Breaker, so it probably really was just a security guard.

good to see you getting your groove back. I'm interested in the ups and downs of this cour, the drama shouldn't be huge this time around, at least not enough for people to call us slave supporters. which means less laughs but also fewer headaches, so guess it depends on if one views that trade-off as worth it.
Initially, I was going to mention that Tolkien only decided that the Glorfindel in The Lord of the Rings was the same bloke who defeated the Balrog at the Fall of Gondolin much later, so Rifujin na Magonote can do the same.
But, fucking hell, Nat, that was an absolutely brilliant take. You are certainly mostly correct in this.
I'm not claiming I know anything I don't, but given ODT was written later than MT I think it's reasonable to extrapolate from the idea that he had Chaos dead in one series then wrote his death in the prequel as being a clue to what's going on rather than him changing his mind and planning to do a retcon.
@@NatalieXHunter If it hasn't been officially published, than it isn't a retcon. Personally, I always imagined it had something to do with the reincarnation technique, which apparently requires a God Gem to be performed.

Ohh yeah I like this. Also, Orsted killing the dragon generals must have been a bit tragic due to the circumstances they are in. Yet It is good to know that the dragon generals must have at least felt relieved for their insubordination to the dragon god.
Welp, the Man God has GOT to go.
The Man God reminds me of Sukuna. Sukuna is this all powerful mage who just wants to eat, chill, fight, and have his "GTA live" moments and have people respect his clout.
The Man God seems to want to just be silly, guide people towards these high moments only to make them literally lose everything so he can laugh in their faces.
When you're an all powerful god, small evil pleasures seem to be the drug of choice.
Yeah, I mean, it gets even darker when you think that (if my theory is correct and they are the OG Maxwell, Szilard and Chaos) Orsted has had to face their deaths (whether he kills them or they willingly die to help him) like, hundreds of times in different loops. It's no wonder he doesn't want to talk to Rudeus about the details too much, given he doesn't need to know.
@NatalieXHunter Woah, I hadn't thought of that. Orsted's life must have been one whole painful nightmare to live in.
@@zachjenkins3292well, remember too that until Nanahoshi and Rudeus, everyone was automatically terrified of him and hated him due to his curse. So he was all alone as well as having to trial and error these sad situations.

Man I love MT, and I love that he wrote a sequel story, but I WISH so much that Rudy and his family (non kids) were actually going to be involved in all this amazing lore. I want to see the characters I love Take down Hitogami, not some kids I barely know. Even if they end up being great, I still would rather they be around for it.
Old Dragon's Tale does show that Rifujin can write a compelling story and a protagonist that is very different from Rudy. I think the MC in the sequel will be Akihito, who was Nanahoshi's boyfriend back in Japan. It'll still be an isekai but it'll be very different from MT. I think it'll have a mix of characters we know who are longer lived than Rudy, and new characters we just got hints of like Ruijerd's daughter Luicelia. I have total faith it will be good though, because ODT proves Rifujin didn't just fluke it with Rudy. He can write all sorts of characters and make us care about them, and the lore of this world is brilliant.
@@NatalieXHunter oh I am sure, he made me like all sorts of characters. But if it's just some other badass Isekai dude, then it'll just be like every other isekai, even if it's a well written Isekai dude. I am so invested in Rudy, and how he interacts with the world. Even if he was old and was assisting his kids, I think I'd like it a lot more than to just have him be long dead during all the time and after everything he did to set up the future, and he's not even going to get to see it.
Plus even more so, I think Rudy deserves just as much as anyone to take down Hitogami!! I know we got some scenes with Rudy but that's nothing compared to actually taking him down imo

Even Laplace might not have known bc he might have been killed before the three kings reincarnated in the human world
The next book of redundancy will have the Aisha chapters and the references to the story of the human Hero Ars that talks about five five sages(dragon kings) who helped Ars which might give some interesting details
But that story might not even be true bc we know Laplace kinda sorta lied about the human Hero Aldebaran later on

Well, also Rudeus isn't Dragon race. Dragon king is a title that has meaning to them, and while Orsted has no memories of actually being in the dragon world as he was a baby, he's spent tens of thousands of years through loops learning all the stuff his father made sure would be available to him through people like (pre-split) Laplace. So he would definitely value the meaning of these things in a way Rudeus, who thinks of titles like King and even God in terms of rankings in magic or swordsmanship that people of different races can attain, does not.

This stuff isn't from Redundancy, it's from Old Dragon's Tale - there isn't a light novel version of that yet, only web novel (even in Japanese), but I do have a whole series on a playlist on my channel reading out a translation of the web novel if you want it ;)

No. If he could he would have done things differently, you would think. For instance he would have known what would happen to Laplace. The research into the magic he uses on Orsted before his death and the collapse of the dragon world is set up in ODT, and it doesn't seem like he could just casually time travel.
@@NatalieXHunter I did not mean it as a casually thing, I mean it as a trial run. He jumps to the future as a test and is the one that built the doll and house. Then when he came back the war broke out, and he used the trial run to send his son forward in time, like he did himself.
No, it was the Deagon God who sent his son to the future, and Chaos, one of his generals, who made the doll, I think you're getting mixed up.
The Dragon tribe has reincarnation powers so its very possible that the Silard,Maxwell and Chaos have reincarnated or that they simply when to the human word and managed to survive
They definitely didn't survive, their deaths are fully described, and the reincarnation thing is a specific technique (we only know of Laplace actually doing it, and that was in his demon god form). It's not something they can all naturally do (they discuss what happens to dragon race people when they die and the ritual they do with the bodies, but there's no mention of reincarnation). In fact, of all the races, they'd be the least likely to need an ability like that, as they live for thousands of years and are the strongest race - it's rare for them to die 'young', and if you've lived for 20,000 years or something would you even want to start again as a baby? If they could, then the dragon god himself would surely be able to do it, and he didn't.

Sorry to break the hopeful mood buuut. Isn't there a theory that Perugius died at some point which is why he doesn't look like a full dragon race and remember hes connection/loyalty to the dragon race?
It would beg the guestion if he reincarnated to a human family with the help of the "orb" and thus is living thanks to it now with no memories of before and with a more human like appearance. Would also explain him siding with humans too.
This would mean Orsted would have to kill him just like the revived dragon generals.

i'm happy i read the novels to mushoku and slime..... i'm a lil salty on how the quality has dropped for my 2 top shows. they both feel like the studios are just putting out content now.
Why is this a point of discussion? Strange.
All the dragon generals are confirmed to be reincarnations on some level by the Story of the original hero Ars that was in Aisha and Arss part.
They are confessing that they need to make something for the child that will come in the future and saying that they are sinners that need to attone for something they did.
Also we have the idea that the treasures in all the dragon Generals are in fact the cores of the gods because they were the ones that were used in the ritual making it clear that all of them were in possession the dragon God.
Something else to mention. The Dragons are well know to use reincarnation magic, they made it in the first place.
The confusion might be because of the translation. Actually read the original Japanese so I don't know if this is the normal convention.

Yeah, it could be the translation - I thought the treasures where parts of the dragon god's core, though he would have four others so it makes just as much sense for each of the 5 (well, 4 and Perugius, I guess they didn't bother to reanimate or reincarnate Dora) to have a whole one.

Personally, I don’t think Laplace can be made whole before the final fight, I’m sure that if he can be made whole again, it will require Orsted to kill both TGL and DGL so they reincarnate as a single entity in the future.
It would be really nice if Laplace’s third rebirth was something people were looking forward too positively, instead of being wary of it like with his DGL incarnation
There are loads of ways it could be done if Rifujin decides that's what's going to happen, though. Like, what if it is orchestrated that TGL (whose only objective is to be able to 'kill god') is the one to kill DGL, and through some dragon race chicanery that somehow makes him whole again (I'm just spitballing here, but it's an example of hundreds of ways it could be done in the story if Rifujin wants an intact Laplace in the final battle). We've never even seen TGL so it would be a waste of a legend if he isn't a factor in the end.

I've done a ranking of all the anime episodes, but the reason I haven't done a LN ranking video is because I'm still reading them. When I first read MT only up to volume 14 was translated, so I read the rest of it in the web novel. That means there are some extra bits and changes in the LN volumes I haven't read. I was waiting until they were all out in English to binge read them again, which I've started doing now, but I won't rank them until I've gotten up to the end again!
