With con season upon us, I wanted to take a look at the CGC Comic Book Window Bags. I wanted to see if they were going to replace my tried and true home made window boxes. The answer is YES and NO.

Interesting product! Never got comics signed before, but I think I would like to direct the artist where to sign, like your personally made bags.

Same here. I don’t want to leave it up to the artist to guess where the signature should go. Thanks for watching!

Personally I enjoy making my own window bags, but I have done some that I thought, "I wish I just had one of those window bags from CGC". I think the bottoms are rounded to leave room for the bar codes on either bottom. No one wants sig on top of the bar code. I agree with you on the blank sketch comics, but if I were you I would have put that in upside down so there was more room to draw and the curved covered areas were on the title.

Thanks for watching Lee! Totally agree with you on the curved bottom so it doesn’t catch and sliding the book in upside down. 👍🏼

Getting into comic signings, at a comic con or wonder con event where CGC is present. Would I take the book out after it’s signed and put it in a plastic bag cover, or would I just hand them the window bag and they do it all?

Hey thanks for watching! Welcome to the world of comic signings, it’s very addicting haha. If you’re using these official CGC window bags, then no, you would keep the book in them after they get signed. You just hand it over to them and they will take care of the rest. Just make sure you close the outer flap so that the cover is protected.

Should I put a back board in the window bag?

Yes, sorry I forgot to mention that.

Thanks for making this video. Wondering the best way to send these in the mail to get signed. Never submitted before but I’m sending in a high valued comic here soon. Between 2 pieces of cardboard maybe?

Also, I thought about putting arrows with marker on the outside of the CGC window bag on the outside cover. When he first gets it he will know where to sign before he even flips it open.

@@mcdmn717 hey Loren! Yes, cardboard on the front and back would be recommended so that it stays as flat as possible. I don’t think you need to write on the outside where to sign since CGC will remove the cardboard anyways. Plus you don’t want them to think outside is where you want them to sign. Hope that helps and good luck on submitting!

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense and I’m glad I asked! Thank you for putting these videos out there for us to see.

Is it a good idea to put a board in the bag with the comic for added protection ? I just received mine and am going to send my comics out for the Todd McFarlane signing and would like to know the best way.

Yes, I highly recommend putting a board in the bag. I’d put 2 in there if it’ll fit lol

Thanks for showing was wondering about those. But they are probably not for me though. Looks like I will keep making my own.
Looks like the book is handled too much when using those, also I didn't see any backing board and Looks like books can move around alot.
Checked out you window video as well. Why not just put the backing board over the comic before you cut the window this way the book is never really handled again until grading and no risk of the comic catching the bottom of the cut window.

Thanks for watching! Yeah, I’ll only use these if I’m in a hurry and don’t have the time to do my own cutouts. And thanks for watching my tutorial. That’s a great idea about using a backing board on the front so that it doesn’t catch. Didn’t think about that!
