In 1979, in Brownsville, Texas, i took Mexican America history. I realized how horrible we were treated as people. The Anglo-Saxons tried to break our spirits but they fail. As Corky Gonzales said, "We are still here". "I WILL ENDURE, I WILL ENDURE".

At the end of the day what you really want to say is Latino Built America Latino invented hip hop Latino invented R&B Latino invented everything black folks just came here and worked in the field. This madness has gotten insane
Something many Americans don’t know and schools are not teaching is the fact that the most commemorated soldiers during the Second World War were Mexican soldiers.
For Mexican people in the United States, the post-pandemic era, was an age of visibility and an age of invisibility, an era of voices heard and an era of voices silenced, a time of progress for many and a time of regression for some, a season of recognition and a season of repression. For those with perceived or real Mexican heritage, it was a period of growing acknowledgment alongside unyielding hostility, of newfound respect tempered by persistent prejudice. They were welcomed in word yet unwelcome in deed, celebrated in culture yet censured in law, held up as symbols of resilience while held down by policies that sought to erase their contributions. In one hand, the promise of equality; in the other, the weight of exclusion. Such were the contradictions of the post-pandemic times, a paradox woven into the fabric of a nation grappling with its own identity. Por El Semillero de la Raza, November 2024.
It has ALWAYS angered me when they say a State, Country, Nation was “discovered” by someone (not true) when that State, Country, Nation was ALREADY inhabited by ppl. Smh.

An ancestor of our family fought in the American Revolution; another, Southerner, walked North & Joined Northern forces to fight against Slavery, although raised Quaker as were some Indigenous. Many Latinos & Indigenous fought for all to be free & a master over his own destiny... Many Hispanics married into the Indigenous populations... major populations of all the Americas... Many escaped African Slaves were protected by Indigenous, both sides of the borders... and married into tribes though identify as African American or Latinos.

John Leguizamo Sir, I hold you in high regard! Muchisimas gracias! 🙏 I pray PBS picks this up every year. I think the US institution is afraid of us because we've been here from the beginning... and no generation should accept being lower in the US food chain.
Great content! I just subscribed.... THANK YOU
I watched the first episode 😢😂I got very emotional…I did a DNA test I am 18% Taino, born in ponce PR….the horror that was inflicted on my people….in San Juan there is a statue of Christopher Columbus….if bad bunny wants to get into politics…put up more billboards and include the take down of the statue in LA PLAZA DE COLON…..boricua hasta la muerte…..🇵🇷
Excellent 🎉
Why not a longer series? Why not have an internet series? Keep up the good work regardless.
Yassss ❤❤❤
Has Leguizamo gotten his origin story yet? Is he still claiming to be Puerto Rican!
When will this be on pbs??????
I wish I live in the USA to see this. I’m living in Switzerland and I don’t receive it. Thank you for showing this to the Gringos 😂😂
John, you are a better man than I. The prejudice, the hatred, from people who have never had a reason to hate, except from what they have taught, DISGUSTING
Yes to doing a longer version like Ken Burns 👏🏻 Gracias for highlighting us 🇨🇺☕️🍮🧿
Yes, it takes a nonwhite to bring this history forward. Disappointed in Ken Burns though - he ignores all the non white history and contributions.
Bravo! 👏👏👏👏🇺🇸
Amen 🙏
Leguizamo is Legend
Please share your research with all school boards, especially Santa Fe, NM. Our children need to see themselves in history.
John, I’m a Latino in Canada and I would love to be able to help you, support, and start the same for all Latinos in Canada! Please let me know how I connect with you, or someone you designate. I am a profesional person in Canada. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you. I believe Latino Canadians would benefit tremendously from a similar cause. Thanks
What platform is his Documentary being streamed ?
We need this movement in Houston!
💙💙💙
History DOES NOT LIE , speaking out , Awareness, & exposing the TRUTH!! , keep Exposing the truth , We deserve & entilted to what is owed to us & what we actualky have gone thru & went thru. , we learn from our past but we also can change the future as well
Just found this Show Ora😎🤙🏽
El gran Jodón! Very apro po
Its a fantastic series, not only for Latinos to watch, but all people. Don't learn this in school.
You ask why you are not higher along the “food chain” because you’ve been here longer… I wonder what the American Indians think? They were almost totally annihilated and to use your words lower on the food chain than Latinos. I just wanted to point Them out. Before anyone starts in on me, as a white Native Texas Democrat who was born less than an hour from the Mexican border I’m glad you’ve done this Series to inform Americans about History we wouldn’t learn anywhere else.
I think I learned way more Asian American history before learning the Latin origin of the name of the city I’m from lol
Our Latino people need to know our history and the American people need to correct the history books and tell the truth . RAZA stand up and united. Together we can make a difference. Much love to my Raza 💯🇲🇽♥️💪 viva LA Raza. Brown and proud.
Im from mexico and im white LOL whats your opinion now? in fact mexican people have large amounts of European dna hahahaha
My raza ❤❤❤
At the end of the day what you really want to say is Latino Built America Latino invented hip hop Latino invented R&B Latino invented everything black folks just came here and worked in the field. This madness has gotten insane
"Un abrazo y un be...un un y otro abrazo" 😂😂😂😂
Something many Americans don’t know and schools are not teaching is the fact that the most commemorated soldiers during the Second World War were Mexican soldiers.
👏🏻
Would love for you guys to consider the history of Hispanic in the early 1900s. Houston was build on Hispanic sweat 😓
What David Cruz that's my husband's name yayy 🤜💥🤛
word.
It has ALWAYS angered me when they say a State, Country, Nation was “discovered” by someone (not true) when that State, Country, Nation was ALREADY inhabited by ppl. Smh.
Some ask how Latinos worked in & helped formulate & build America. American Latinos w/ Indigenous ancestry have been in the Americas for Milleniums through their Indigenous ancestry... That's How! Latinos fought in every American War: The American Revolutionary War, The American Civil War, The Mexican-American War, WW1, WW2... and every police action... ETC.
