I want to share with you guys and your followers. I wrote to you about my griddle sticking and I bought the scraper from your suggestion. What I’ve learned by trail and error. I use unsalted butter on my griddle. My burgers didn’t stick and got really crispy and crunchy. The buns toasted up real nice and a 1 minute clean up. Anyone with a griddle where everything is sticking has to try it, butter must be unsalted. Hope this helps someone.
How ‘bout mixing some taco mix into the meat before cooking? Then after flipping and cheesing up, you could add traditional taco filling. “Food” for thought!
Will try. I would put onions down first, sprinkle with taco seasoning then smash on top of onion/seasoning and then do the rest! Or mix taco seas into meat before making balls. This will be great for camping to limit dishes!
This is our 3rd Cuisinart Griddler. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMcXT6_MuT0hB3ejyGQQHaeof9bwoWPUf We live in a condo, so the Griddler is our only option for preparing grilled food at home. We literally wore out Griddler # 2 (Griddler #1 was returned with a defective part and replaced, no questions asked). We love this new and improved design. Only 2 plates - instead of 4 - which counts in a small kitchen. The grease trap is a real improvement over the little cups that were sometimes forgotten and sometimes turned over! We decided to cook less with the cover closed, which seems to dry food out quickly, and we really like the result. The "sear" setting works great too. We use our new Griddler for fish to Cuban Sandwiches and beyond. I highly recommend the Griddler!
Don't question the food, just enjoy the food, be the food...this looks like it just works, all the goods and yums needed for a great griddle...another banger!!!
Cool concept. I think I would have started with the onions on the griddle and some taco seasoning, then smashed the meatballs into it for some extra flavors. Adam showed up at the best time, eating time 😊
going to try these one night this week. Friend showed me the video and wanted to do it. First thing we will do is add taco seasoning and use a more normal taco cheese.
Those are marvelous. I guess since "taco" was still sticking in my mind, i instantly thought "Okla onion & jalapeno" patty and some pico for the topper. I love that crispy tortilla look.
Brethren! This was amazingly simply and looks so good. Here is a challenge: Maybe try the taco 🌮 version next time with toppings of lettuce 🥬, sour cream, and taco sauce (instead of ketchup, mustard, onion and pickles). Griddle on!
That’s similar to what is sold here in CO as a Mexican hamburger. We put refried beans, cheese, and green chili on top instead of hamburger fixings. So delicious.
Sams club has some pre-formed Angus prime rib slider Patty's that I think would work great for this!! Definitely getting this for pool side lunch this weekend
Great review Brett! Who needs Adam anyway. Waltwins was always a one man show anyway. You know it is all you Brett...LOL! Just having a little fun. Glad to see Adam get there at the last minute to try the tacos. I see how it works, Brett does all the heavy lifting and Adam comes in to save the show by eating the food...LOL! Must be nice. Kidding of course :) Great review my friends and a very tasty one at that. Fun to watch, but I am sure even better to eat. I think adding lettuce and tomatoes would nice a nice "taco" touch to these as well. Actually, I would how these would be, by making the smashburgers with taco seasoning and using the usual taco condiments? Like a real "smash taco burger"?? That would be interesting to try. Hope you two have a wonderful weekend and a blessed Sunday. God bless!
An interesting way to cook those. Personally I like my burgers pretty much well done/ essentially crispy. I personally like mine with mozzarella cheese. I'm going to try the way that you cook those
Love your channel! Please keep in mind my next comment is not aimed at you guys. I absolutely hate the term “smash burgers.” It’s such a lazy definition of just making a thin burger. I usually stay away from “crap burger” recipes because they’re just another burger video. Not really anything special. Honestly…a burger is a burger despite how thick or thin it is. THAT being said…You had me at taco. Any cook knows you can make a taco out of darn near anything. I love tacos! So on that note, great video! Side note…a slice of cheese between the meatball and tortilla shell would be awesome. Help hold it together too.
Thank you for the comment, we under the sentiment. That said, the owner of Smashburger (the restaurant) perfected this style of pressing the burger which creates a Maillard reaction giving a strong flavored crust on the first side. It’s more than just a thin patty, and top burger experts have worked on perfecting it for themselves (George Motz for example). There’s actually a technique and “science” to it all. We appreciate its not for everyone but absolutely love making them. We appreciate you, and for sure the extra cheese would be incredible! This was first go for sure, so we’ll keep trying new ideas with it!!🤙🤙
As I saw you cook these and started to pull them off I thought for sure you were going to stack them similar to a tostada. Then I had a thought: Do that but put the condiments & sauce on like a Big Mac. A Big Mac tostada! It could be a tiktok trend! 🤣
Hey guys, love your channel and recipes. I do something a little different for Taco Smash Burgers. I use taco seasoning to season the patties and use taco fixings to dress them out. Almost every video I have watched makes a regular burger on a tortilla or adds a big mac sauce. While I'm sure this is good too, why not taco flavored taco smash burgers? We love them.
Thank you so much fam! We totally get it, the purpose for this one, is it was a TikTok viral cooking video, which is probably why you see so many “traditional” Smashburgers in a tortilla - but I’m thinking we need to revisit and do a “Smashburger” taco but more authentically “taco!”🔥🔥
Looks good. However; have you thought of using chorizo vs ground beef for a smash burger taco. Or maybe a combination of beed and chorizo? You’d want a leaner beef for this. Also you can jazz up the cheese with some sort of pepper cheddar or pepper jack (habanero would be great). How about make queso fondido (con chorizo) as your cheese sauce? I know there are many different things that can be done with this. Just seeing if this is a route you’d like to do. Enjoy your videos as always. Great job
That is so cool... it is kind of weird at first putting the raw meat on the tortilla shell, but the more you think about it, it's okay... plus it's nice you don't have to dirty a press or use any parchment paper! That looked really good, I'll have to try it out. My sister is staying over Easter Weekend and we plan to have smash burgers on Saturday, perhaps I'll do this. I think my mom will appreciate the lower carbs. Hey Adam, nice Zelda tee! I am so stoked for Tears of the Kingdom! Griddle On!
Thanks for watching - the ceramic surface is much different from the steel griddles, the nylon scraper unfortunately doesn’t hold a sharp enough edge to get under like metal. Something g we’re trying to work on with these units. Cheers.
With the ketchup, mustard and pickles, it's more like a tortilla smashburger. A smashburger taco would be garnished with something like salsa, jalapenos, guacamole, etc.
Haha! Thank you, really hung up on it - for context. We bulk film and have hundreds of cooking vids, and get a word wrong here and there. Annoying enough to make a public statement about it, huh? Cheers fam.🤙🤙
Dude I tried this. It’s so freaking greasy I could barely eat it. Buns tend to absorb some grease, but tortillas do not. Grease (not ‘juice’) flows right out of this.
Thanks for watching and the feedback - when we press and get the Maillard reaction, the crust helps quite a bit with flavor, and while there is some grease, it was minimal. Not sure if the process worked a bit different? Partly, we try to drain off excess grease before pulling it from the griddle. Sorry you didn’t have the same experience we did! Take care fam!🤙🤙
@@waltwins It may be operator error but i tried to find you original chicken fried rice recipe, which is my go-to and GREAT, but it said i needed a subscription??
Remember "juicy" = full of fat grease On that note no thanks I'll pass... Everyone loves my burgers and they don't leak liquid fat while consuming them...
Thanks - can I ask, what’s the intent of the comment then? Any cook I’ve ever met/known/studied would absolutely use the word “juicy” to describe a perfect burger - George Motz comes to mind, but for sure you gotta do it the way you like. Cheers brother.

I love the Smashed cook book. We’ve tried several and we are loving them. Thank you guys for putting this together.
Thankd for making the video! My tortillas got burnt for some reason when I cooked them at the same temp as the burgers. Any tips?

😍👍... Could you please do a southwest version of this, brothers? Thanks.😋

Looks good, but mustard and ketchup on a taco?
Genius ! Looks so good !
Flour or corn tortillas?
We prefer flour, but can be done with either. (We’ve only seen them done with flour though). Thank you for watching!
When you do a regular smash burger what is the weight of each ball you smash, and what was the weight of the ones you did in this podcast?
With the ketchup, mustard and pickles, it's more like a tortilla smashburger. A smashburger taco would be garnished with something like salsa, jalapenos, guacamole, etc.
