actually this scrambler works perfect in our road ( very bad road with some potholes ) im trading off my monster and find that scrambler's soft and dull suspension gives more confident in a bad road. i was in pain riding my stiff monster . its funny that you said this bike might work for some people and thats exactly true for my case. your prediction is 100% correct
I test rode a Scrambler up and down a good mountain road and the thing I found about it is it felt fun going slower than on my Multistrada. Going around a turn at 40 on the Scrambler felt like I was going for it and having fun with the bike, and I hopped on the Multi right after and to get the same feeling on the same turn I had to go 60. The speed limit was closer to 40.
The part of the video that includes the slower riding pace.. Can we all just agree that those are stunning views on that road? I completely agree that type of riding the scrambler is build for..
I'm always happy to see people riding who know how to rev match their downshifts. In a world with quickshifters, e-clutches or electric powered vehicles this technique might become forgotten knowledge.
Again, an awesome ride. I felt the overall the scrambler design makes one more vulnerable and feels less confident on the turns. The power doesnt tapper off that easily on downshifts it seems.
I got one nearly 4 months ago (Full Throttle 2018), and rode more than 10,000 km with it. I changed the rear suspension for a Shock Factory one, and Hyperpro progressive springs in the front. Totally different bike, like on/off. This bike is perfectly adapted to small mountain roads. For off-road, it's not bad at all due to its light weight and new suspensions. Not the best off-road bike, of course, but capable. Used to have a Kawa Z900. Don't regret it at all, for my specific usage. Only negative point : the brakes. Very cool video, by the way ;)
I'm pretty sure you would have liked the engine and power delivery much more with the old throttle tube from the 2015/2016 model. There was a lot of complaints about the first models being to sharp on the throttle but after a bit of getting used too it it was amazing and very responsive. The later models lost a bit of character but it can be easely fixed by just fitting the throttle tube with the steeper initial profile from the first midel years.
I am torn between Triumph Scrambler and this one. I tried Triumph street twin 900 and it was a blast to ride! I like the sound of the triumph, haven’t tried the Ducati yet
I own a ducati urband enduro 2015, stock tires and suspension. I love the engine, I love the cornering, it is an intresting bike. Somentimes it is down to the pilot to adapt to the bike, well ridden it handles very well and stable in sweeping corners, even sharper corners, at around 140/15O km/h. It take some times to perform like that but overall I love the bike, for sure a sportbike is better in some way but it all depends in what you are looking for, but never underestimate a scrambler on the twisties ...
I used to hardcore ride a 1994 CB500 so I know what it takes to ride a less capable bike hard. Doesn't change the fact that the Night Shift is inferior performance-wise to most naked bikes out there from the same price category
What you say was right about the 7min mark . The initial part of the vid when you are flogging the bike I said to myself this guy needs a faster race bike. You tested the bike and pushed it to its limits engine and braking, which probably softened up. And then when you ease off that’s what the bike likes and it feels better as I think it’s designed for cruiser style riding nit track style riding.
Your comment at the 4 minute mark really aligns with the excitement / experience from the video. It just doesn’t sound engaging or exhilarating as you world typically find with a Ducati twin.
Not the fastest, not the best sounding, not the best handling, not even best in class. But sometimes, somehow, a bike is just something more than the sum of its parts. Easy to forget until you ride something like this.

I own the Ducati scrambler icon dark, I’ve upgraded the suspension, I have a nitron rear shock made to my weight with gear on and ktech front fork cartridges also have lower handlebars and it transforms the bike. Also a KN air filter and a termignoni race exhaust with map key wakes the engine up a little more between 4 -6.5k revs is the sweet spot. Just my opinion of course.
