I do wish they built onto Unity more, for sure, still! Parkour is top notch, stealth is great, animations are cool, world design is awesome! They only need to improve on the story and combat really (making combat harder is fine, but this was insane).
Ac Unity was created by a team of developers who truly loved their game. It had a lot of problems and glitches, but that was because they were constantly trying new stuff.
Tbh I think Unity was just too ambitious. The graphics, lighting, free running and crowd density is obviously the reason the game was such a buggy mess and no game since has done what Unity has attempted which shows that its still probably a bit to much to ask for even with current hardware. The closest I've seen so far to Unity crowd desinty is thr GTA 6 trailer. Also important to mention that Unitys lighting doesn't allow for a seamless day and night system.
I've seen alot online about how AC Unity and Batman Arkham Knight look better than 90% of newer games. And to some, that's absolutely true, but I think some part of its nostalgia and another part is that good art design and world design can make all the diference in the world. I think alot of more modern triple AAA releases just feel and to difereing existences are bland, uninspired, and samey. Like alot of developers are either burned out or just doing it for a paycheck, not cause they love the work.
You are right man,but look,I finished it a month ago. It has waaaay better graphics than Odyssey for example. In Odyssey,on ultra ,your pc just can't breath and for nearly the same quality,yo can play Unity on ultra, and it has a great story, better character development and is now bug free.
@@reddragon647 yeah 1 thing I still see people dog on is the story and arno as a character and I never got that although my one complaint is that every character sounds British for some reason
@@TheRed_wing You are right! Instead of hiring aome french voice actors, they just did the most british dialogues. I am ok with it,because I don't know french, but still....
@reddragon647 I've gotta turn down the MSAA on unity cause that hits hard as hell but everything else on ultra runs fine. Both run really well on my pc but I overkilled my build so that makes sense. I think unity just had more focus and less thinks to deal with in its engine so higher detailed character models where possible. But water and lighting are better in odyssey. Unity has better design, character models ,and definitely story. But I will say I think I like alexios better than Arno. Arno is fine he's just ezio 2.0. Alexios , partially due to the dialog choices, can be either a really fun character, really tragic character, or a nice balance of the too.
Meh, the game still has its fair share of bugs, and you can't link to Ubisoft if you wanna play online, but it has many great concepts that are worth going back to over and over again

@@MonsterArmy21st In comparison to Syndicate, Unity had better gameplay features overall and Syndicate had a better storyline. That being said, yeah they weren’t the best games but Unity is still a better game than Odyssey in relation to stealth assassinations and gameplay tactics. The ability to see our gameplay style when playing was something that the new games should have. They killed that feature when Syndicate came out.
I love AC Unity. It was my first game on Xbox one and my first time playing an assassins creed game. Fell in love with Arno and the game now I’m onto Syndicate with the Frye twins.
I got gifted Unity and Origins for the PS4 at the same time. I started them both within a couple days of each other. Roughly half a decade later, Unity’s the only one I revisit.
Graphics kinda did peak around 2014-2016. There's some exceptions for things developed for the most modern consoles and powerful pcs, but generally we've stayed fairly stagnant for graphical fidelity in games for almost 10 years. Mostly because it doesn't really get dramatically better, just general improvements, especially in lighting.
ur right. And besides graphics everything else is getting worse since 2014-2016. And it’s because developers used to try to impress gamers with physics and graphics then. They were making games feel like movies. Now they all make them as long as possible with repetitive objectives and pump them out as quickly as possible for people to consume. Probably that’s the reason l lost my passion for gaming already. I don’t want to grind for hundreds of hours when I do that at work. 90% of a time I forget about the story of a game while doing side content to get main character strong enough.
@KysiusGod that just means that you're looking for the wrong types of games. There are dozens of different types of games released each year yet you only seem to know about the longer ones.

Mirage looks OK, but I think progress from AC: Origins is really small for a 6 years gap. AC: Unity has completely other style, so while it looks great for 2014 I think some praising is from people that just likes this more grayish style more.
@stupididiot-tp3iw has the best in depth parkour system. Combat is fun, stealth is a little more advanced. Lots of different assassination animations. The only issue is that the story is shite.
Unity was developed for next-gen hardware. Ubisoft aimed at something on i5 2500k level, yet consoles delivered awful AMD Jaguar, so Unity was unable to hit stable 30 fps. In a way AC:Unity is a game that should be a PS5 and X|S launch title. Since it really shines when it runs on more powerful CPUs.
Ubisoft is developing multiple AAA titles at the same time, so much so that none of them are getting the desired efforts and time. Ubi needs to fix it's strategy
One of the reasons newer games are worse than older ones is because of the lack of populations (like in Unity) and lack of ambient music when free roaming (like in AC2)
Problem was during the development they prerendered all the day/night cycles and did a whole bunch of things for graphic fidelity and lost a lot of time doing that so the game had bugs on release.. that in turn caused all the focus to be on floating eyeballs and teeth instead of how groundbreaking the tech was..
man that coop was so incredibly buggy when it was live, on top of all the other game breaking bugs that just completely broke the game in the first place. it got to the point they released the dlc for free as an appology to those who pre ordered or played on release
@@OtaniNoAsagibuddy the game was a mess, plot were boring story sucked and it's the only game in the series that has little to no interaction with the ISU ( first civilization ) the parkour is dumb and the game were easy. The engine is updated in Mirage, but the fact that unit is working at 60fps on my RTX 2050 laptop! It's speaks how optimal this game is compared to today. (The bugs from unity has been patched now)
@@TheRed_wing Although the Dead Kings DLC was good but the main story was lame and boring. The biggest disappointment was not giving the opportunity to hunt down Shay Cormac from Assassin Creed Rogue. All they gave was Romeo Juliet like storytelling. The intro with Templar Jacques de Molay at first was pretty good though. Sadly Ubisoft derailed and went to completely different story line.
Ac unity is easily the best in the series with brotherhood and part 2 behind it simply because of the customization, allll the extra side missions available, multiplayer missions, and the graphics yes it’s a little buggy but not enough to ruin the game
A masterpiece suggests it is incredible in every way. This is untrue. It still glitches often, it struggles with its NPC count, the combat and stealth systems are janky, the multiplayer is borderline unplayable. Parkour is great though, if a little floaty.
So ahead of its time that gameplay physics was still raw. Me and my brother called it "moon jump creed" saying things like " wow Arno's got legs to be jumping 30ft"
Until mid-2010s, it was mostly the run for the better graphics. Now it’s the run of keeping the achieved graphics quality on higher resolution screens. When average user will have accessed to 8K screens, then well a substantial improvement in game graphics.
AC Unity is the best main AC game the combat system was the most realistic in the AC universe because it was hard to deal with multiple enemies attacks PVE also the parkour System looks fast light and stunning the only downside is the game it's self is buggy but still one of the best ACs ever
A factor I’ve noticed within graphics that even occurs with movies is that the graphics now days are often better by a long shot, it’s just a matter of it being too clean and there for not realistic. For instance, the movie The Batman looks good because the scenes are always dirty or realistic, it’s always raining which gives character as well, whereas the Avengers Endgame has beautiful cgi, but sometimes it can look to clean and therefore not realistic. Another example would be the Snyder cut vs the Sweeden cut of Justice League. Old AC games just felt gritty with its scenery and the new ones just try its hardest to make it beautiful
Unity has that resurgence in players which helps its overall redemptive arc. It’s in my top 2 AC games and I have recently gone back to it to experience the dlc and finish the platinum
I recently played 'The Order 1886' for the first time in years, since that game is basically a "technical exercise" and built from the ground up to show off what the (then) new hardware can do, it's honestly astonishing how good it still looks even now, it's absolutely spectacular visually - probably easily better than a hundred ps4 games that came along after it
Paris is also amazing, but this people did something incredible. In fact architechs uses their Notre Damme model for helping to reconstruct the church after the fire
*Assassin’s Creed: Unity* (2014), *Batman Arkham Knight* (2015), and *Alien: Isolation* (2013) are still some of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played. Only a few since then have come close, like… *Metro: Exodus* (2019), *Red Dead Redemption 2* (2018), and *Ghost of Tsushima* (2020).
I’m currently playing through ac unity and as someone who has played at least a couple hours of each assassins creed games, unity might be my favorite. Yeah it started glitchy but now I can’t find many glitches even if I try. The visuals are stunning and the crowd along with the random “stop the criminal” type mission makes the city feel alive. The animations are so smooth and parkour is fast and satisfying. After playing the ezio trilogy it felt nice to be able to assassinate an enemy and keep walking instead of stopping at them or jumping on top of them every time. Easily my favorite ac game. Only issue is that like every non rpg ac title, it only runs at 30 fps on ps5. Ubisoft needs to fix this on every ac game.
Both graphically look fine, just depends on what art direction you like more. Subtle but noticeable differences. Feels like everybody is reaching for whatever they can find to diss the new games.

Unity is the most underrated game in the franchise. It's gained traction since they brought back the parkour from Unity. Glad to see it recieving more love
Yes, video game graphics basically peaked in many ways around 2014. There were so many polygons on most of the models starting around that point that your 20 inch monitor can’t really show the difference.
I remember when assassin‘s Creed unity came out. I was getting anywhere from 8 to 14 FPS. I ended up uninstalling the game because it was unoptimized, I went back and played it after two years of updates and it ran like butter, and the game was well done.
I feel like when ps4 and Xbox one barley came out we had quality games no shortcuts and graphics that hold up to this day, think of when those consoles came out and how many good games there were during that time
Games have legitimately bottlenecked in upward advancement. There were huge jumps in creating 2D, 3D, HD etc. Then the next big thing was to simply focus on shading or whatever people won't actually notice, and bloat the game file 5 times what it could have been otherwise.
It's art design/style. The fidelity of games today is unmatched, but a lot of games don't have proper artists working on them. Just people that are smart with computers. We need artists back in gaming.
I don't think it's a matter of tech but rather art direction. They went the extra mile to make Unity look gorgeous, you can tell there was passion there. Recent AC games just feel really phoned in and flat stylistically.
i think unity is freakinly ahead of it's time, cause look at the graphics. it's still better than mirage but it's obviously look worse than recent games like rdr 2 for example

Ac Unity was created by a team of developers who truly loved their game. It had a lot of problems and glitches, but that was because they were constantly trying new stuff.
And you know this from where?
100%
Jesus feels like i just played Unity 2 years ago but it's been 10 year 😢 so much memories in this game 🎮
All of a sudden Unity is a good game. A couple of more years and Mirage will get some love too.
I'll remember this comment in a few years. I think you'll be right too.
It was just the last good game of the series
@@Max.44The last good game is AC Syndicate.
@@AIEdTechExplorersorigins has a decent story and I love bayek but yeah I agree AC syndicate was the last good AC game
Unity was bugged on release, that's why
Glad to see unity getting the recognition it deserves . Yeah it was rough at launch but they've worked hard getting it to where it needs to be
Meh, the game still has its fair share of bugs, and you can't link to Ubisoft if you wanna play online, but it has many great concepts that are worth going back to over and over again
It was way ahead of its time, still is. I’m actually surprised that Unity didn’t earn a Game of the Year status.
cuz it’s launch was(not my word) dogshit, the story wasn’t that great also but all in all, the stealth gameplay mechanics has been one of the best we have
@@Dravich I can agree, the story could of been better. Though the level of stealth in this game is mad. Choice to go in loud or quiet… prefer quiet until they spot me, then louder than a concert festival. 🤣
It was dogshit back then. Now that is the teenager in me as a sophomore in high school would say it didn't hold up to the other titles of the era.
Now, how is it aged? It did well
@@MonsterArmy21st In comparison to Syndicate, Unity had better gameplay features overall and Syndicate had a better storyline. That being said, yeah they weren’t the best games but Unity is still a better game than Odyssey in relation to stealth assassinations and gameplay tactics. The ability to see our gameplay style when playing was something that the new games should have. They killed that feature when Syndicate came out.
@warrenwoodhouse compared to today's games? Yes I agree.
Nahhh origins was fyeee
@@HASEL.mp3 Yes Origins is way better.. better characters, story, better combat, better map etc
The problem is the game devs trying to give people what they want and what the people really want is to complain.
Graphics kinda did peak around 2014-2016. There's some exceptions for things developed for the most modern consoles and powerful pcs, but generally we've stayed fairly stagnant for graphical fidelity in games for almost 10 years. Mostly because it doesn't really get dramatically better, just general improvements, especially in lighting.
yup battlefield 1 looks so good and still holds up maybe graphics did peak long time ago
@@ringofdreal1374 could be. Probably because i look for open world games, but Į want them to be as long as old AC.
the cold shadows ambience is really help the visual on unity, really good representing the France time era
Been on the unity train. Multiplayer heist missions were the best.
Still remember playing this on release. I was the only one out my mates to actually like the game
That's what I have been saying: Unity is worth playing more than mirage.
I don't agree, I really prefer Mirage xd
@@Dark.Mefistogood for you
@@Dark.Mefisto that's fair every one can have an opinion
@@phonenixagaming3892 That's true, I mean Unity absolutely wasn't bad, parkour was amazing. I'd meet you halfway, the best option is to play both and decide for oneself. (Both are included in Ubisoft + for $17 per month, I think it's worth it)
@@Dark.MefistoYeah me too but if unity had 60 fps in playstation it would be other thing
Listen, we got what we were told this time. The Problem with Ubisoft is that their Trailers and expectations most of the time don’t match the Game itself.
But with Mirage they told us everything. They listend to the community and made the game exactly as they said it would come out
Bro what? 20 hours in and Mirage is amazing. Visually beautiful.
Agreed maxed out on my pc it looked amazing. Its probally people comparing vonsole versions, where the graphics already dumbed down.
Unity is the better AC despite the bugs
@@serialboon6083you shouldnt need to play a game on a pc for it to look good having to max it out on your pc is crazy . ps5 and xbox can easily run this game with a good tv thats it and it’ll look amazing
Mirage looks OK, but I think progress from AC: Origins is really small for a 6 years gap. AC: Unity has completely other style, so while it looks great for 2014 I think some praising is from people that just likes this more grayish style more.
unity is an elite game
okay bentellect
I thought we all where supposed to hate it for no reason
@stupididiot-tp3iw has the best in depth parkour system. Combat is fun, stealth is a little more advanced. Lots of different assassination animations. The only issue is that the story is shite.
So many people were crying about how bad it is now that they fixed bugs everyone’s saying it’s so good
Well yeah, that's how people tend to react when problems are solved.
Because people thought Ubisoft couldnt do worse than unity...but they did
@@YaniFly 😂
It’s still buggy as hell to this day.
@@Phil_Leotardo I remember getting a free game out of it uni felt that bad for us
Unity was developed for next-gen hardware.
Unity was made with passion there’s no doubt about it.
The only thing that was holding it back are the yearly release schedules…
One of the reasons newer games are worse than older ones is because of the lack of populations (like in Unity) and lack of ambient music when free roaming (like in AC2)
Problem was during the development they prerendered all the day/night cycles and did a whole bunch of things for graphic fidelity and lost a lot of time doing that so the game had bugs on release.. that in turn caused all the focus to be on floating eyeballs and teeth instead of how groundbreaking the tech was..
I got unity recently and it is definitely one of the best assassin's Creed games
Is it still worth getting nowadays since no one’s probably playing it anymore? Like “Unity” makes me think you’d need to have coop to play it
@@Thej0kesta it doesn't need coop, I personally beat the game without it. So I would say yes it is worth getting
Ac unity is just a better game. Hell they even had co-op multiplayer something we had been asking about for YEARS.
yup heist was always fun with friends sadly my friends dropped it within a week i still put in the time though, unity was so much fun
@@majestic54what do u play on I still play unity
man that coop was so incredibly buggy when it was live, on top of all the other game breaking bugs that just completely broke the game in the first place. it got to the point they released the dlc for free as an appology to those who pre ordered or played on release
They’re called nostalgia glasses 😂
Or people are realizing Unity wasn't as bad as they said now that they have more to compare it to.
Nah, unity had trash story and gameplay but the graphics and parkour are genuinely so good you can put them in a modern game
@@OtaniNoAsagibuddy the game was a mess, plot were boring story sucked and it's the only game in the series that has little to no interaction with the ISU ( first civilization ) the parkour is dumb and the game were easy. I find it stupid that ppl bring up a game like unity and compare it to other AC games yes I think the RPG trilogy and mirage and every other AC is better than the most overrated game to date
Never played unity at launch. Played it recently a couple years ago and it is indeed one of the best ac games. It's not blind nostalgia
Unity on release was pretty bad. Even great Gpu at the time can't run the game well
The engine is updated in Mirage, but the fact that unit is working at 60fps on my RTX 2050 laptop! It's speaks how optimal this game is compared to today. (The bugs from unity has been patched now)
can't we just appreciate both games here?
He never said the new one looks bad
@@TheRed_wingi also didn't said that any of the games is bad.
Unity parkour and conbat was really good but the story was pretty lame and *hit unfortunately.
@@MirzaKhalid idk I like the story but I can kinda see why people don't like it
@@TheRed_wing Although the Dead Kings DLC was good but the main story was lame and boring.
Nah you trippin. The one in the usa was perfect
@@rabertoification yeah I forgot about black flag, it Indeed is the best. But Im placing no 3 right after it
Shadows and lighting look way more realistic in Mirage.
dude doesn’t understand that the games have different art styles
Exactly
I was about to say… 😂
Yeah exactly.
In search of gold we lost the diamond
Unity is simply a masterpiece and there is no other way to put it
A masterpiece suggests it is incredible in every way. This is untrue. It still glitches often, it struggles with its NPC count, the combat and stealth systems are janky, the multiplayer is borderline unplayable. Parkour is great though, if a little floaty.
So ahead of its time that gameplay physics was still raw. Me and my brother called it "moon jump creed" saying things like " wow Arno's got legs to be jumping 30ft"
personally I like the top one more, specifically the lighting, however the bottom one doesn't look bad
Unity co-op was so fun back in the day.
Until mid-2010s, it was mostly the run for the better graphics. Now it’s the run of keeping the achieved graphics quality on higher resolution screens. When average user will have accessed to 8K screens, then well a substantial improvement in game graphics.
Well star wars battlefront came out how long ago and those graphics were damn near perfect. As far as consoles go
AC Unity is the best main AC game the combat system was the most realistic in the AC universe because it was hard to deal with multiple enemies attacks PVE also the parkour System looks fast light and stunning the only downside is the game it's self is buggy but still one of the best ACs ever
It’s about art direction vs pushing fidelity for the sake of it. That’s why old games with great art styles are timeless.
Old AC games just felt gritty with its scenery and the new ones just try its hardest to make it beautiful
assassin's creed 3 remastered looks mad good still today on my legion 4080 super
Based on this clip i thought mirage definitely looks better, the problem visually is the stupid outlines around the characters
Both graphically look fine, just depends on what art direction you like more. Subtle but noticeable differences. Feels like everybody is reaching for whatever they can find to diss the new games.
From replaying unity the main thing is the weather dynamic, lighting and antialiasing that’s showing its date. It just looks off
Surprising how we can play AC Unity on our android phones now and it still looks so good!
the graphics didn't peak back then, the love put into it did
Ubisoft in the stock market tanked arround -80%.... that say alot from 100$ to 13$
I remember when unity first released and it was so hated and people swore this was the game that would end the franchise but now however many years later and it's getting a ridiculous amount of love and support. I'm all for it I only played through unity once but it's on my list of games to playthrough again
Unity needs a remaster it looks great but just imagine more combat options armor weapons n so on n the guild mechanic to unlock the stuff was absolutely awesome I miss the progression
Unity is the most underrated game in the franchise. It's gained traction since they brought back the parkour from Unity. Glad to see it recieving more love
Yes, video game graphics basically peaked in many ways around 2014. There were so many polygons on most of the models starting around that point that your 20 inch monitor can’t really show the difference.
thats why lighting in video games so important, get the same quality lighting in the newer games and it would look just as good if not better
I remember when assassin‘s Creed unity came out. I was getting anywhere from 8 to 14 FPS.
I ended up uninstalling the game because it was unoptimized, I went back and played it after two years of updates and it ran like butter, and the game was well done.
I feel like when ps4 and Xbox one barley came out we had quality games no shortcuts and graphics that hold up to this day, think of when those consoles came out and how many good games there were during that time
Im not really into assassins creed but I don’t really know which one was the old one when I started
I need to play Unity again, it got so much hate when it released, but I loved it
I don't keep up with assassins creed, and I can't tell which one is 10 years old as they both look amazing.
Games have legitimately bottlenecked in upward advancement. There were huge jumps in creating 2D, 3D, HD etc. Then the next big thing was to simply focus on shading or whatever people won't actually notice, and bloat the game file 5 times what it could have been otherwise.
And Ezio's theme still representing the series
It's art design/style. The fidelity of games today is unmatched, but a lot of games don't have proper artists working on them. Just people that are smart with computers. We need artists back in gaming.
I was just telling my brother that Unity was before its time. I just finished Unity again today.
I don't think it's a matter of tech but rather art direction. They went the extra mile to make Unity look gorgeous, you can tell there was passion there. Recent AC games just feel really phoned in and flat stylistically.
true, it is super good for its time but i prefer the style of the newer games
I still can't believe that they used such fluid and natural Parkour and we can't get anything like that anymore.
Just you not gonna lie. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
Not just the graphics. But the animations and the mechanics too.
It’s just games frfr getting brighter I usually turn the contrast or brightness down for that darker look
Unity ending was still just wow
i think unity is freakinly ahead of it's time, cause look at the graphics. it's still better than mirage but it's obviously look worse than recent games like rdr 2 for example
