The Clifton Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Avon Gorge and the River Avon, linking Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset. The bridge is built to a design by William Henry Barlow and John Hawkshaw, based on an earlier design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
The bridge was opened on December 18, 1864. The main span is 214.05 m long, the total length of the bridge is 412 m. The width of the bridge is 9.45 m and the height of the pylons is 26 m. The bridge deck is located 75 m above the level of the River Avon. The first modern bungee jumping was organized on this bridge in 1979.
