@@NefariousMinds At one point I had the uncut version they released after they did the episode where Chappelle interviews Lipton as a combo. I thought I had it back up but my hard drive died and I was devastated, between the two of them 5 hours of material just gone. And what's crazy is those were not the actual uncut versions. Each had about 1 hour material left out just like how the robin williams show went on for over 4 hours.
It's insane to me that Bravo has never put up all the episodes on TH-cam or why they lock their site to just the US. The extended versions were the closest thing you would get to watching a honest podcast back in those days.

I just finished watching the special on Netflix when Dave Chappelle received The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor (2020) and then watched this. It almost brings me to tears thinking about when he had this interview and the way everything turned out for him. When he did this interview he obviously didn't know how his career was going to turn out and even mentions it (47:56); that he stayed true to himself and his comedy remained authentically Dave is just so wonderful. He is a genius and is the GOAT. I'm so happy for him.

I don't think he was aware, at this point in his career & when he was on The Actor's Studio, that he would be one of the greatest ever. He still had plenty of experiences left to experience.
He definitely knows, at this point, that he can draw an audience but he hadn't by this point done what all the great comedy giants had done, which is to drive the pole of the flag of their comedic identity directly into the surface of the Moon.
For me, Dave planted his standup flag when he told the story about his friend Daphne who committed suicide. It's a real story, it's tragic, & it's a beautiful story.
Dave truly established his commitment to his art when he told that story on stage. He didn't have to do that. He could have kept that story to himself & kept telling poop jokes but he told it, he put his personal commitment to his ethics out there in front of an audience & allowed us all to judge him.
Comedians are like journalists. Their professional work is defined by the events of their time, & that's why you can never really pin down who's the GOAT. The times change. There was a GOAT for the Fifties like Spike Jones. There was a GOAT for the Vietnam era like Carlin. There was a GOAT for the Eighties like Murphy. There's a GOAT for today.

This video factually disproves the ignorant slanderous statement about teachers, that generally wealthy predatory morons on Wall street repeat, or other ignorant human beings say about teachers. The saying that those who teach cannot do, was absolutely born in the most ignorant minds of the born wealthy and the naturally talented who never believed they needed to learn anything to improve on their talent. Teachers are mankind's greatest resources. So if you have ever repeated the other false statement I urge you to reconsider just how inhuman the most dishonestly Greedy and ignorant on earth, want to make you so you do not think they are ignorant and lost their humanity, sold out for the almighty dollar because of their lustful greed .

Him and Neal spoke about how the studio wanted the movie to be more broad and have public appeal. Dave said that he wanted it to be more like Trainspotting but with jokes. I do agree w/ you however Dave and Neal were part of the problem. They say that nearly every great movie starts with great writing. Neal mentioned that he and Dave had 1 month to write the movie but wrote it the day before their pitch with Universal. I think if Dave and Neal were so concerned w/ making a great movie that they'd put in a lot more time writing it.
